PA PM: High cancer levels among Palestinians is due to “the occupation”

"[PA] Prime Minister Dr. Muhamad Shtayyeh said: 'The occupation is the main cause of some of our diseases, and the high percentages of cancer in Palestine are connected to the Israeli chemical and nuclear waste. We have 6,251 people ill with cancer, which is a high percentage relative to the neighboring states, because the Israelis use our land as a dump for waste. Therefore, we will sue them over this criminal activity against the residents and the land.'

This was said today [Sept. 22, 2019] during the opening of the National Center to Identify Cancer and Genetic Diseases - the first of its kind in Palestine - in Ramallah, in the presence of Ramallah and El-Bireh District Governor Dr. Laila Ghannam, [PA] Minister of Health Dr. Mai Al-Kaila, the [PA] Ministry of Health staff, and representatives of the private health sector."
