Fatah official on Balfour Declaration, a “colonialist crime”: “No to apology, no to compensation, and no to compromise, rather resistance”

“This anniversary of the ominous Balfour Promise (i.e., Declaration) marks 100 years since the colonialist crime and the liberation resistance that the Palestinians have been forced to carry out on the homeland in all of Palestine and the diaspora, [and] our statement still remains the same: ‘No to apology, no to compensation, and no to compromise, rather resistance until the return [of the refugees], the state, and self-determination.’”

The Balfour Declaration of Nov. 2, 1917 was a letter from British Foreign Secretary Arthur Balfour to Baron Rothschild stating that “His Majesty's government views with favour the establishment in Palestine of a national home for the Jewish people.” In 1922, the League of Nations adopted this and made the British Mandate “responsible for putting into effect the declaration,” which led to the UN vote in 1947 and the establishment of the State of Israel.
Fatah official falsely claims that Israel perpetrated Sabra and Shatila massacre

Headline: “Tirawi: The anniversary of the Sabra and Shatila [massacre] is an open wound of allowing Palestinian blood to be spilled”
“Fatah Movement Central Committee member [and Fatah Commissioner of Popular Organizations] Tawfiq Tirawi said on the anniversary of the Sabra and Shatila massacre that… the Sabra and Shatila massacre is an open bleeding wound in the scarred Palestinian memory, and that it was not the first massacre that the occupation had perpetrated against the Palestinians, and would also not be the last.”

Sabra and Shatila are Palestinian refugee camps in Lebanon. In 1982, during the first Lebanon War, Muslim residents of the camps were massacred by Christian Phalangists. The PA has a longstanding policy of falsely accusing Israel of committing the massacre or actively helping to carry it out.

PA official: Uprising against Israel over Jerusalem is the “campaign of every Arab and Muslim”
Source: Official PA daily, Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, July 19, 2017
Headline: "Tirawi calls to support the members of our people in Jerusalem in their defense of the Al-Aqsa Mosque"

"Fatah Movement Central Committee member [and Fatah Commissioner of Popular Organizations Tawfiq Tirawi] emphasized that what the occupation is doing at the Al-Aqsa Mosque is not a security step, but rather a plan of the occupation prepared in advance, which is being implemented at this time by using the latest events at the Al-Aqsa Mosque (i.e., terror attack on July 14, 2017, 2 murdered; see note below) as an excuse…
He emphasized that our Palestinian people will not allow the harming of its [Al-Aqsa] Mosque and Jerusalem.
Tirawi demanded that all the national and Islamic factions join the masses of Jerusalem residents, and not leave them on their own in the campaign. He noted that this is the campaign of every Palestinian man and woman, and moreover – of every Arab and Muslim.
Tirawi said that the Israeli occupation must understand that it is not possible that there will be peace or security and stability in the shadow of the escalating violations against Jerusalem and the Al-Aqsa Mosque, and that security solutions will not bring security and stability."

An era of sacrifices emphasizes that victory will undoubtedly come. A blessing of peace for the souls of the Martyrs of Red Tuesday, brought to those who are loftier than all of us, the honored lords.”

Muhammad Jamjoum, Fuad Hijazi, and Ataa Al-Zir “committed particularly brutal murders [of Jews] at Safed and Hebron,” according to the report by British Government to the League of Nations. They were convicted of attacking British soldiers and murdering Jews in the 1929 Hebron Massacre, in which 65 Jews were murdered. They were executed by the British in 1930.

Fatah Central Committee Member: Fatah "chooses the appropriate time and the appropriate path for choosing the appropriate method of the struggle"
Source: Official Palestinian Authority TV, Aug. 22, 2016
Official PA TV program To Palestine
Fatah Central Committee member Tawfiq Tirawi: “There are 30 methods of struggle, starting with demonstration and ending with the most extreme, armed struggle, and what is between them. Every one of these methods has its own factors, its own political conditions, it has a geographical situation. After all, currently you can demonstrate, but can you come and tell me: ‘Now I want to do an armed struggle’? How? You need geographical depth, logistical capabilities, material capabilities, etc. This matter requires of you preparation for every stage separately. There is a stage that has ended, and a stage that we have moved on to. However, have you abandoned any of the methods of the struggle? I say to you that the Fatah Movement has not abandoned any of the methods of the struggle, but rather it chooses the appropriate time and the appropriate path for choosing the appropriate method of the struggle.”

1974 Nahariya attack – On June 25, 1974, three Palestinian terrorists – Abd Al-Rahim Nasif, Ahmad Abd Al-‘Al, and Muhammad Hanafi - who had reached Israel by boat from Lebanon broke into an apartment building in Nahariya, where they murdered 30-year-old Irena Zarankin, her 10-year-old daughter Ronit, and her 5-year-old son Gilad. Zarankin’s husband Mordechai had made a rope out of sheets for them to escape out the window and blockaded the door, but one of the terrorists was waiting below and shot Irena Zarankin and the children as they climbed down. Mordechai Zarankin survived the attack. Israeli soldiers who arrived at the scene killed all three terrorists, but in the exchange of fire 21-year-old soldier Danny Senesh was also murdered.

Fatah official: We have right to fight Israel “through all means,” but “for each method of resistance there is a right time”

Ma’an TV The Ninth Program
Fatah Central Committee Member Tawfiq Tirawi: “In the Fatah political program of the Sixth Conference [in 2009]… it says liberation of the lands and resisting the occupation through all means of resistance. We haven’t omitted any type of resistance. However, we know that for each method of resistance there is a right time and circumstances, which are not right for another method. Since we are interested in a [political] achievement, in a state, freedom, and independence for the Palestinian people, we know what the interests and basic principles of the Palestinian people are. Hence, we want to realize its interests, and not to concede our basic principles. These might be temporary interests or achievements until conditions are ripe to end all other issues...”
Ma’an TV host: “How come that Israel feels secure next to Hamas, places it in the West Bank, accepts its presence and [lets it] control the West Bank like it controlled the Gaza Strip. Like a man placing a snake in his surroundings. Do you think Israel is involved in this?”
Fatah Central Committee Member Tawfiq Tirawi: “For your information, there are snakes without teeth. If Israel didn’t accept the revolution that took place in Gaza, it wouldn’t have taken place… Who among us thought that the Muslim Brotherhood would make a pact with the Americans, as happened in Egypt?…
Who created Al-Qaeda, was it not the CIA? Who established the Islamic State (ISIS)? Who invented [Jabhat] Al-Nusra? Where is Al-Nusra? Al-Nusra is in the Golan. Show me one bullet fired at Israel. They [the Americans] wanted to liberate Afghanistan before liberating Palestine.”

“Name me one thing we have given up on. Did we give up on the refugees? Did we give up on Jerusalem? Who is leading the actions in Jerusalem? Fatah and the PLO framework, irrespectively of the sizes [of the PLO factions]. Did we give up on the borders? Did we give up on our territories in the interior, from 1967 (i.e., Israel). I want to tell you something even more important. Brother Mahmoud Abbas is the president of the [Palestinian] Authority. I am a member of the Fatah Central Committee. Who told you I don’t want Jaffa and Haifa? Who will tell me that? Why, sir? First of all, the PA and Fatah are not the same thing. Brother Mahmoud Abbas is president of the PA. He talks to presidents, heads of state and others. No! I’m telling you, I want a democratic Palestinian state in which we – Muslims, Jews and Christians – will live, in all of Palestine… I want to ask those who have doubts about Yasser Arafat a question. They heard Yasser Arafat’s speeches. They heard when Yasser Arafat declared the [Palestinian] state. What did he say? Some say [he said] ‘the establishment of the Palestinian State.’ No, no. They heard the words and remembered them [wrong]. He said: ‘We announce the establishment of the State of Palestine on our Palestinian land.’ Where is the land of Palestine?”
Fatah official: Fatah led the Intifada, "no one else"
Source: Official Palestinian Authority TV, Dec. 11, 2014

Fatah Central Committee member, Tawfiq Tirawi: "We are [dealing] with politics. We are all self-sacrificing fighters and have fought in the armed struggle. We found that, in view of the conditions in the Arab [world] and internationally, we might not be able to obtain a [Palestinian] state for our people. We turned to the Oslo [Accords] and to negotiations. The negotiations failed. After that, we carried out an Intifada (i.e., PA terror campaign 2000-2005). We were the ones who led the Intifada, no one else. Now, we are leading the popular resistance (i.e., the Oct. - Nov. 2014 riots and terror that murdered 11 Israelis) – we as the Fatah movement, and with us, the PLO, or the factions belonging to the PLO."

PA forces led the Intifada

Fatah Central Committee member Tawfiq Tirawi: “I was the head of the [General] Intelligence [Services], and in the West Bank was my brother Jibril Rajoub… Honored brother: The commanders of the security establishment, our officers and soldiers are the ones who led the Tunnel Intifada (i.e., the Western Wall Tunnel clashes – 3 days of Palestinian-Israeli fighting in September 1996). They are the ones who led the Al-Aqsa Intifada (i.e., PA terror campaign 2000-2005). Today, over 300 of them – officers and soldiers – are in jail. Some of them were sentenced to over 300 years, for example Muhammad [Naifeh] ‘Abu Rabia.’ All of the Security Forces headquarters were destroyed. We have between 250 and 300 Martyrs (Shahids) from among the commanders of the Security Forces… Even if they do give us a Palestinian state according to the 1967 borders, we will not, by any means, accept a Jewish state! No leader from Fatah or the Palestinian forces in the PLO will ever recognize Israel as a Jewish state. No way. This decision is final and not open for discussion, because if it does happen, it would endanger the entire Palestinian cause, whether regarding the refugee issue or our people in the 1948 territories (i.e., Israel).”

Note: Muhammad Naifeh ‘Abu Rabia’ – A senior member of the Tanzim (Fatah’s military wing), Naifeh was responsible for the murder of 13 Israelis in various terror attacks, some of which he carried out himself. He received 13 life sentences.

Now, I am telling you – who is leading the popular ‎resistance? – The Fatah movement! … and if a minister, a member of a revolutionary ‎council from the highest level of leadership in Fatah, descends to the ground to [take ‎part in] this demonstration – [this creates] friction with the occupation. Does this mean ‎that Fatah is unserious? This is a movement of resistance, which is implementing the ‎appropriate manner of resistance to this occupation, in order to liberate a future for the ‎Palestinian people.”‎

Note: “The Jerusalem Intifada” is a reference to a period of high tension in Jerusalem, ‎from October to November 2014. In that period, Palestinians murdered 11 Israelis using ‎guns, knives, and cars, and wounded dozens. ‎
Fatah official: Ziad Abu Ein was ‎‎“assassinated and murdered in cold ‎blood”‎
Source: WAFA news agency, Dec. 10, 2014
‎“Fatah Central Committee member Tawfiq ‎Tirawi said that Abu Ein had been ‎assassinated and murdered in cold ‎blood. He added: ‘Our entire people and its ‎leadership are potential Martyrs (Shahids) in ‎resisting the occupation, and the [current] ‎stage demands that we all form a unified ‎rank against it. This is our destiny, and we ‎must therefore strengthen our unity against ‎the occupation. Our response will be more ‎resistance in all the popular, national and ‎international forums, using all forms of ‎popular resistance.’‎ [...] The [PA] Ministry of Information called Abu ‎Ein’s assassination ‘a barbaric crime and ‎state terrorism,’ testifying to the history of a ‎criminal [security] establishment that excels ‎in claiming numerous victims from among ‎the Palestinian people, proving its lust for ‎the blood of innocent people.”‎

Note: Ziad Abu Ein - Fatah Revolutionary Council member and head of the PA Committee to Resist Settlements and the Wall. Abu Ein died on Dec. 10, 2014 at ‎a demonstration in the West Bank that ‎turned violent. Immediately following his ‎death, PA and Fatah leaders claimed that ‎Abu Ein was murdered. Footage from the ‎event shows Abu Ein in an altercation with ‎an Israeli soldier who grabbed Abu Ein by ‎the neck, and later shows Abu Ein on the ground clutching his chest in pain. The ‎autopsy, which was overseen by Israeli and ‎Palestinian pathologists, revealed that the ‎cause of death was a heart attack, but ‎disagreement remains over the extent to which the altercation with Israeli forces may have caused ‎the heart attack. Palestinians have ‎continued to describe Abu Ein's death as a ‎‎"murder" and "assassination" by Israel.‎
Fatah official: "Arafat was poisoned and murdered by Israel"
Source: Official Palestinian Authority TV, Nov. 10, 2014
Official PA TV program The State of Politics hosted Fatah Central Committee member Tawfiq Tirawi.
Tawfiq Tirawi: “The security reports, the circumstances and the security evidence in our possession – we will continue the investigation, because all these data lead to the conclusion that President Yasser Arafat was poisoned and murdered by Israel. I can say that Israel is behind the assassination of Martyr (Shahid) Yasser Arafat, because it benefited most from President Yasser Arafat’s disappearance.”
Fatah leader calls to destroy Israel "from the river to the sea!"
Source: Facebook page of Tawfiq Tirawi, member of Fatah Central Committee, Aug. 5, 2014
"O our free people of resolve and sacrifice in Gaza, you are more honored than us all... We remain committed to the promise: freedom, independence, and driving out the occupier from the entire pure land, from the [Jordan] River to the [Mediterranean] Sea.
Long live free Gaza!
Your brother, Tawfiq Tirawi."
Fatah official: "The big explosion is coming"
Source: Al-Mayadeen (Lebanon), July 24, 2014

Fatah Central Committee member Tawfiq Tirawi: "These are small explosions, which happen occasionally, but the big explosion is coming. The big explosion is coming. After the big explosion, no one will know where it will lead and what its results will be... It is legal to use all means - to shoot, throw stones, to hold a demonstration and a sit-down strike. All these means will be possible and permissible for our people, and let no one say that weapons are forbidden in the West Bank."

Fatah official calls for one-state solution: Replace Israel with a Muslim state
Source: Facebook page of Tawfiq Tirawi, member of Fatah Central Committee, May 6, 2014
The independent Palestinian radio Ajyal interviewed Fatah Central Committee member Tawfiq Tirawi:
Fatah Central Committee member Tawfiq Tirawi: “In my opinion, the two-state solution has come to an end – and the one who ended it is Israel. Since the Algiers Convention [of 1988] (at which the Palestinian National Council, the legislative body of the PLO, declared the establishment of a Palestinian State), when they agreed on the 10 Points (i.e., the Ten Point Program of 1974, which called for the rejection of the existence of the State of Israel and the establishment of a Palestinian state on the entire territory of Mandatory Palestine) and on [UN Resolution] 242 (which established provisions and principles towards a solution of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict), the Palestinians have gone far towards the two-state solution, and the resolutions of the UN and the international institutions, etc. Nonetheless, we must reexamine this entire issue, and propose – as in the past – the one-state [solution]. I am in favor of one democratic state, which Fatah proposed in 1968. I am for it. Let’s all sit down together in Palestine, and shape the state as it was shaped in Lebanon – a Maronite president, a Sunni prime minister, etc. Let’s find this solution.”

Fatah official: Fatah and Hamas have same goal and same enemy - Israel
Source: Facebook page of Tawfiq Tirawi, member of Fatah Central Committee, May 6, 2014
The Palestine Today Channel interviewed Fatah Central Committee member Tawfiq Tirawi.
Fatah Central Committee member Tawfiq Tirawi: “We and Hamas – it’s true we are political rivals, but our goal is one, and our enemy is one. Everyone must understand that the enemy of all the groups of the Palestinian people is the Israeli occupation, and not one organization or another. True, we are vying for the [support of] the Palestinian public – but for a [common] goal, which is the liberation of the land and the liberation of the Palestinian people and the establishment of our independent Palestinian state… The [PA] Security Forces are the ones who led the second Intifada (i.e., PA terror campaign 2000-2005) and, before that, the Tunnel Intifada (i.e., the Western Wall Tunnel clashes – 3 days of Palestinian-Israeli fighting in September 1996), and at this very moment, there are over 300 or 400 Palestinian officers from all the Security Forces in prison. They include prisoners who have received sentences of over 200 or 300 years. And there are over 200 Martyrs (Shahids). All the headquarters of the Security Forces were destroyed. These are national Security Forces, Security Forces with a history of struggle.”

Fatah Central Committee member Tawfiq Tirawi: "Our people, people of Gaza, Gaza of resolve, of nobleness and struggle: Your freedom is near. Our prisoners' freedom and your freedom are also near, Allah willing. Fatah official: Palestinian state will have Jerusalem as its capital, will include Rosh HaNikra

He added: ‘We will not forsake a single foot of the land of Palestine – all of Palestine – and no one has the right to prevent any Palestinian from returning to the village from which he was expelled amidst the disasters of death and murder. We will establish our Palestinian state whose capital is Jerusalem, on our historic land, from Rafah to Rosh HaNikra.’”

Note: The PLO Charter first written in 1964 called for "liberation" of Palestine, meaning the destruction of Israel, adding that the PLO does not seek "territorial sovereignty over the West Bank in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, on the Gaza Strip..." However, when the West Bank and Gaza Strip came under Israeli administration following the Six Day War in 1967, the PLO rewrote its Charter in 1968, now seeking sovereignty over the West Bank and the Gaza Strip as well, lands formerly under Jordanian and Egyptian rule.

Fatah official: “The rifle is here, and it can go off at any moment”

Official PA TV Live broadcast a ceremony supporting the Palestinian state and national principles in Jericho.
Fatah Central Committee member Tawfiq Tirawi:
"A national enterprise cannot succeed without the National Liberation Movement, Fatah. We in this movement have not cast down the rifle and have not let go of the rifle. The rifle is here! The method of struggle we are adopting now (i.e., negotiations) is [only] one of the methods of struggle. But the rifle is here, and it can burst forth at any moment, with a new method and a new leadership. It will burst forth from this [current] leadership if we remain alive, because we are its people; and if we are no longer alive, [then] our sons, our young lions and you will be its people. Revolution until victory, until victory, until victory."

Fatah official claims “results of negotiations are a big, round zero,” praises “using rifles” as an alternative
Source: Official PA TV Live, Feb. 11, 2014
Official PA TV Live broadcast a cultural event in support of PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas, held under the auspices of the Mayor of Jenin.
The event was attended by Abbas’ advisor and Fatah Central Committee member Sultan Abu Al-Einein and Fatah Central Committee member Tawfiq Tirawi.

Fatah Central Committee member Tawfiq [Tirawi]: “We negotiated with our heads held high. We fought using rocks, and we became Martyrs (Shahids). We fought using rifles, and we became prisoners, heroes. Some of them are [out there] among you. Heroes who made this movement [Fatah] and all of us proud. Some of you are still waiting for freedom. Martyrs who ascended to Heaven, whom we remember with admiration…
And we know that the results of negotiations are a big, round zero. Nonetheless, we tried. And we say with heads held high: ‘No!’ Whoever from among the Zionists who thinks that Beit El and all the settlements are Israeli land, is deluded. Haifa, Jaffa, and Acre will remain Palestinian forever, and they will be nothing other than Palestinian.”
[Applause from the audience]

Note: Tawfiq Tirawi is a member of the Fatah Central Committee (since the General Fatah Conference, Aug. 4-6, 2009) and is former head of General Intelligence in the West Bank.

Fatah official: Negotiations must be reinforced by “armed struggle”
Source: Al-Mayadeen (Lebanon), Jan. 23, 2014
An interview on Al-Mayadeen TV (Lebanon) with Tawfiq Tirawi, member of Fatah Central Committee:
Tirawi: “There is no way a Palestinian state will be established in the West Bank and [the] Gaza [Strip] within the next twenty years... The negotiations are giving us nothing. The only thing that is possible is [what is called] the ‘sphere of activity’. We – all Palestinian organizations – must return to the ‘sphere of activity’.”
Al-Mayadeen TV host: “What you are saying is important. Let me say that this is new…”
Tirawi: “When we enter the ‘sphere of activity’, I’m telling you: lots of things will change.”
Host: “’Sphere of activity’, that is to say…”
Tirawi: “Resistance... All forms of resistance. My dear brother, what is resistance? Standing firm is resistance; negotiating is a kind of resistance; but there has to be something in the field to aid and reinforce it, right?”
Host: “Weapons.”
Tirawi: “Weapons or popular resistance. There are a hundred ways of resistance. [So] let’s get on with the resistance. But [this doesn’t mean] every organization can engage in resistance in whatever way it wants. It doesn’t work that way. There has to be a Palestinian strategic national plan, one that is acceptable to everyone – both to those in the PLO and to those outside the PLO and which will be implemented by Palestinians. At that point, we will see what method of resistance is appropriate for that stage, and we will act accordingly... What you are hearing from Fatah isn’t anything new... At our Sixth Convention, held in Bethlehem, we did not rule out any of our options for resistance, of which armed struggle is one.”

Fatah official: US, Israel and the Muslim Brotherhood (including Hamas) conspire against the Palestinian cause
Source: Official PA TV Live, Dec. 19, 2013
Official PA TV Live broadcast the main event marking World Teachers’ Day in Bethlehem. Several PA officials attended the event (according to Facebook page of the Head of Education in Bethlehem): PA Minister of Education Ali Zaidan (Abu Zuhri), Fatah Central Committee member Tawfiq Tirawi, Advisor to PA Chairman Abbas on NGOs and Member of Fatah Central Committee Sultan Abu Al-Einein, District Governor of Bethlehem Abd Al-Fattah Hamayel and director of the Bethlehem Education Administration Nisreen Yasser Amr.
Fatah Central Committee member Tawfiq Tirawi delivered the Fatah Central Committee speech: “We say to those who hijacked these revolutions (i.e., the Arab Spring), to the Muslim Brotherhood movement, of which the Hamas movement is a part, being its branch in Palestine: No party or group will succeed if it doesn’t keep the Palestinian cause as the highest priority in its mind. We say to Egypt – Egypt of Arabness, Egypt of Arab nationalism, Egypt of Abd Al Nasser, Egypt of the Egyptian army that crossed the Suez Canal (Beginning the Yom Kippur War against Israel in 1973, Egypt crossed its ceasefire line with Israel, crossing the Suez Canal to enter Sinai, - Ed.): ‘Yes, we are with you and against any who murder and use terrorism against the Egyptian army. The American conspiracy with the Muslim Brotherhood in the Arab homeland – its basic purpose is to take the issue of Palestine 50 years backwards. Who in Syria is talking about Palestine now? Who in Tunisia is talking about Palestine? In Yemen? In Egypt? Where are the Palestinian and his cause in these countries? This is the American-Israeli conspiracy. A just revolution began, and the Americans conspired against it with the Muslim Brotherhood’s assistance. This is the biggest conspiracy against the Palestinian cause.’”

Fatah Central Committee member Tawfiq Tirawi: "I say, from a position of responsibility, not a centimeter of Jerusalem will be liberated unless every grain of Palestinian soil is soaked in the blood of its brave people. For Jerusalem doesn't need negotiations, because negotiations will not bring Jerusalem back to us. What will bring back Jerusalem are the struggle and the resolve... We have conducted negotiations, while not laying down the rifle. It [the rifle] may be resting but we will not neglect our principles. We will rest the fighter's rest, but each period has its method of struggle. From fighting to Intifada, to popular resistance, to negotiations - but we will not abandon [our principles] - not in negotiations and not in any other way. I say, from a position of responsibility, the negotiations resulted in nothing except for the [release of the] prisoners."

Abbas representative attends convention paying tribute to released murderer

“The Palestinian General Federation of Trade Unions… conducted its elections convention in the Hebron and Jericho Valley region, attended by Dr. Saeb Erekat, who represented the President [Abbas], Member of the Fatah Central Committee Tawfiq Tirawi… At the end of the convention, tribute was paid to released prisoner Sharif Abu Dheileh, current Jericho Mayor Muhammad Jalaita and former mayors.”

Note: Sharif Abu Dheileh stabbed his employer, Avi Osher, to death in Moshav Masua in the Jordan Valley (June 1991), after having worked with him for 15 years. Abu Dheileh was serving a life sentence in prison, but was released in August 2013 as one of 104 terrorists whom Israel agreed to release to fulfill the PA's precondition for renewing negotiations.
Senior PA official celebrates “magnificent” terrorist “heroes returning from captivity”
Source: Official PA TV Live, Nov. 3, 2013
PA TV broadcast a rally in Surif, Hebron in honor of released prisoners Ziyad Ghneimat, Mustafa Ghneimat, and Najeh Muqbil.
Abbas Zaki: "How great and magnificent what you have done, oh heroes returning from captivity. How great are these men of great stature, for you sieged the prison guard. How great are you, for you knew that you are potential Martyrs (Shahids), yet your will was stronger than any [Israeli] decision and any outcome... We are the ones who planted the spirit of defiance in this nation, and we have been the school [to teach] the culture of resistance... We took up arms, and with cascades of blood we inscribed [in the books of history] victory after victory. And today, through diplomacy, by winning the world over on our side, and by removing Israel from public opinion (i.e., as a legitimate state), we will administer the poison to them drop by drop… I congratulate the Hebron District on [the return] of this group of select men. And when I mention Mustafa, Ziyad, and Najeh, I add also the great eagle Fakhri Barghouti –33 years in prison, and here he is with us! …
I would like now to recall the commander of the operation, [Muhammad] Abu Shadi Al-Tous, whom we look up to with respect. The reason they are postponing [the release of] this commander is that he angered them more by having been the commander of the operation. We also salute [his wife] Um Shadi, and every front, and [we salute] all those beloved heroes, the pioneers, the free men, the fighters, like these heroes (points to the three released prisoners)… We say to Israel: Die in your rage. Go to your cemeteries and recite over your dead whatever you recite. Here they are [who Israel said] 'have blood on their hands' (i.e., murderers); here they are [back] among their own people: fighters, knights, free men!”

Fatah official: Use violence at the right time
Source: Facebook page of Tawfiq Tirawi, member of Fatah Central Committee, Oct. 13, 2013
Fatah Central Committee Member Tawfiq Tirawi:
“When there are negotiations, the negotiations need leverage. Leverage on the ground for negotiations [can be] armed resistance, popular resistance, civil disobedience against the occupation, appeals to the UN, etc. You have to use all forms of struggle [as leverage]. True, there are circumstances that can sometimes dictate the form of struggle. At one time or another, the time may be right or wrong for it (i.e., for a certain form of struggle). But ultimately, if the Palestinian negotiator goes [to negotiate] without an activity that supports him, and with no factors that support him, his position will be weak. We have no popular resistance, to speak frankly, and we have no armed resistance. We have what we obtained by appealing to the UN, which is [the ability] to approach international institutions and organizations…
There is no Israeli partner for peace, in my opinion. We made a mistake when we recognized Israel, and we must retract our recognition of Israel. We made a mistake when we lowered our demands and [agreed to] the 1967 borders. I say, we must return to no less than the [UN] Partition Plan. This is my opinion, and this is what we must tell people – because essentially the two-state solution is over and dead.”

He turned to the audience of students and said: ‘Fatah was the first self-sacrificing fighter, (from Fedayeen - self-sacrificing fighter, someone prepared to die for a cause), the first female self-sacrificing fighter, the first stone, the first bullet, the first male prisoner and first female prisoner.’…
In addition, he spoke of the movement’s role in educating its activists towards sacrifice, giving and devotion, saying: ‘We must fulfill the role of the self-sacrificing fighter because the self-sacrificing fighter is not only the one who carries a rifle but also the one who makes decisions, serves the nation and protects the land, honor and holy places.’
In response to statements made by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who announced that there would be no return of Palestinian refugees and no Palestinian state, and who still continues to run wild [building] settlements, Tirawi -- speaking for the Fatah movement that has never forsaken the rifle, the stone and the struggle -- said that Kiryat Arba and [Gush] Etzion are not Israeli and that Nazareth, Jaffa and Haifa will remain Palestinian. Fatah official: “We will pass [this conflict] on to our children and our children’s children”
Source: Al-Manar TV (Hezbollah), Sept. 14, 2013
Member of Fatah Central Committee Tawfiq Tirawi was interviewed by Al-Manar TV (Hezbollah).
Tawfiq Tirawi: “Our conflict with this occupation is a conflict that has continued since 1917, since the Balfour promise (i.e., Balfour Declaration). I’m telling you, and trust me, it’s been passed from generation to generation. We are a generation that received it [the conflict] from the Martyrs (Shahids), from Yasser Arafat, from Abu Iyad, from Abu Jihad, from Abu Sabri and others, the Martyrs. We will pass it on to our children and our children’s children, until Palestine is liberated. Dear brother, what is important is for there to be a conscious Palestinian will, able to struggle for another 100 years in order to free this land. There will be no circumstances in which will we allow Palestine to remain occupied. This is our land and our country.”

Note: The Balfour Declaration of Nov. 2, 1917 was a letter from British Foreign Secretary Arthur Balfour to Baron Rothschild stating that “His Majesty's government view with favour the establishment in Palestine of a national home for the Jewish people” and is seen as the basis for later international commitments to establish the State of Israel.
Salah Khalaf (Abu Iyad) - A founder of Fatah and head of the terror organization Black September. Attacks he planned included the murder of two American diplomats (March 1, 1973), as well as the murders of 11 Israeli athletes at the Munich Olympics (Sept. 5, 1972). Khalil Al-Wazir (Abu Jihad) - Abu Jihad was a founder of Fatah and deputy to Yasser Arafat. He headed the PLO terror organization's military wing and planned many deadly Fatah terror attacks, including the most lethal in Israeli history, the hijacking of a bus and killing of 37 civilians, 12 of them children. Fatah official: "I salute the Islamic Jihad"
Source: Al-Mayadeen (Lebanon), Aug. 13, 2013
Lebanese Al-Mayadeen TV host: "Tawfiq Al-Tirawi, the truth is, we're talking today about the July Victory (i.e., the Second Lebanon War). You said that you're opposed to the current negotiations. What other option do the Palestinian people or Palestinian leaders have apart from negotiating? Do they have other options?"...
Fatah Central Committee member Tawfiq Al-Tirawi: "There are many options we could turn to, beginning with resistance by political confrontation, [resistance] by stones, and ending with armed struggle and everything in between. I wish to say that given the current balance of power and the current factors, the principle of armed struggle should not be abandoned, nor should the principle of resistance [be abandoned]. I would also like to say to all who say that the Fatah Movement has cast away the rifle: This is not true.
In the political guidelines [determined] in the sixth Fatah Conference [August 2009] held in Bethlehem, the Fatah Movement approved all the resistance options, including the armed struggle. Nonetheless, sometimes there are circumstances, factors and situations when the time is perhaps not right for this type of struggle. Maybe in other months a different type of struggle will be suitable. The important thing is for the struggle to remain, and for us to be engaged in constant activity against this occupation, until it ends...  I salute the Islamic Jihad, because the Islamic Jihad and the Al-Aqsa [Martyrs'] Brigades and all the Palestinian resistance brigades, their role was more central than the Hamas Movement's role... We will win, Allah willing, with different forms of resistance - popular resistance, resisting the occupation through political confrontation, resisting it on the international level, as well as armed resistance at any time."

Fatah: Force, armed struggle must support negotiations
Source: Al-Falastinia TV (Fatah Party), July 26, 2009
Tawfiq Tirawi, elected to the Fatah Central Committee at the General Fatah Conference Aug. 4-6, 2009:
"Most members of the movement believe that it is imperative to emphasize, in the political platform of the Fatah movement, that we are still under occupation and that the legitimate resistance, in all its forms, must be re-considered… This doesn't mean that we don't want negotiations, but we don't want negotiations just for the sake of negotiations. There must be factors supporting the negotiations. The negotiations are [a type of] resistance, but they must be supported – supported by the stone, by demonstrations, by strikes, sit-ins, supported by all forms of the struggle, of which the greatest, or the most violent and the final [form] is the armed struggle. . . . The negotiations always need force to influence them positively."
Jerusalem needs 1000 Shahids (Martyrs)
Source: Al-Falastinia TV (Fatah Party), July 23, 2009
Tawfiq Tirawi, Chairman of the Advisory Council of the Academy and former Head of the General Intelligence in the West Bank, addressing students at graduation ceremony, Palestinian Academy for Security Sciences in Jericho:
"Jerusalem needs thousands of Shahids (Martyrs), and so long as we are alive and you [addressing students] are among the commanders of the future, remember this: It is impossible for Jerusalem to return [to us] without thousands of Shahids. And if there is someone who thinks that America will restore Jerusalem to us, he is mistaken. [America] will not give us Jerusalem. If it won't give us Jerusalem, then how is it possible that it will give us the right of return? You have chosen these two symbols [Jerusalem and the right of return] as the name of your course [of study]. These two symbols need blood, action, effort, resistance, and Palestinian unity."

Note: 2 weeks later at the General Fatah Conference Aug. 4-6, 2009, Tirawi was elected to the Fatah Central Committee.
