Religious War
Religious War

‎"Our war with the descendants of the apes and pigs (i.e., Jews) is a war of ‎religion and faith. Long Live Fatah!”
[Official PA TV, Jan. 9, 2012] ‎

This statement was made by the moderator at a Fatah celebration and was broadcast ‎on Palestinian Authority TV.‎

The same Islam-based demonization of Jews was voiced by a young man in ‎September 2014 on official PA TV. He recited a poem that described ‎Jews as “most evil among creations… barbaric apes… wretched pigs”:‎

‎"O, you who were brought up on spilling blood
O, you who murdered Allah’s pious prophets (i.e., Jews in Islamic tradition)
You have been condemned to humiliation and hardship
O Sons of Zion, O most evil among creations
O barbaric apes, O wretched pigs.‎
‎[Official PA TV, Sept. 12, 2014]

Under the PA Fatah leadership, Palestinian society is undergoing a major shift towards ‎radical Islam. In 2010, more than 98% of Palestinians surveyed said that religion plays ‎an important role in their lives, while less than 1% considered religion not important.” ‎‎[Ramallah Center for Human Rights Studies]‎

Islamic War against Jews
An integral part of this Palestinian Islamization are the PA teachings that Islam is at ‎war with Jews. As cited above, the PA promotes hateful demonization and libels, which ‎it bolsters with religious teachings that depict Jews as Satan, monkeys, pigs and the ‎enemy of Allah. One poem that has become popular in the PA includes the words “our ‎enemy, Zion, is Satan with a tail." This poem has been recited by young children and ‎adults multiple times on PA TV.

The PA promotion of demonization is integrally linked to the PA’s promotion of ‎violence and terror against Jews. The poem cited above depicting Jews as “most evil ‎among creations… barbaric apes… wretched pigs” ended with these verses motivating ‎violence against Jews: ‎
‎“As long as my heart is my Quran and my city
As long as I have my arm and my stones
As long as I am free and do not barter my cause
I will not fear your throngs
My belt is around my waist, and my rifle is on my shoulder.”‎
‎[Official PA TV, Sept. 12, 2014] ‎

To support its teaching, the PA claims that Allah sent humanity a message through Islam’s prophet Muhammad that the killing ‎and extermination of Jews is a necessary step to bring the redemption. The murder of Jews is thus elevated by the PA as a holy act in the service ‎of Allah and humanity.

In January 2012, the PA Mufti taught that the "Hour of Resurrection" can only come after ‎the extermination of Jews:
‎ ‎
PA Mufti Muhammad Hussein: “Palestine in its entirety is a revolution… ‎continuing today, and until the End of Days. The reliable Hadith (sayings and ‎practices attributed to Islam's Prophet Muhammad)… says: "The Hour [of ‎Resurrection] will not come until you fight the Jews. The Jew will hide behind ‎stones or trees. Then the stones or trees will call: 'Oh Muslim, servant of Allah, ‎there is a Jew behind me, come and kill him.'” [Official PA TV (Fatah), Jan. 9, 2012]

PA and Fatah religious and political leaders have cited this passage on numerous ‎occasions. ‎

Hamas enshrined this religious teaching in its charter and is “looking forward” to this ‎genocide:‎
‎"Hamas has been looking forward to implementing Allah's promise, whatever ‎time it might take. The prophet [Muhammad] said: 'The Hour (of Resurrection) ‎will not come until Muslims will fight the Jews; until the Jews hide behind rocks ‎and trees, which will cry: 0 Muslim! There is a Jew hiding behind me, come and ‎kill him!'" ‎
‎[Hamas Charter, Article 7, quoting Sahih Muslim, Book 41, Number 6985]‎

Thus, according to PA religious teaching, the killing of Jews becomes a prerequisite for ‎the fulfillment of the Islamic ideal. This belief has had a significant impact on the ‎Palestinian population. In a 2011 poll conducted by the Israel Project, 73% of ‎Palestinians said they “believe” in the Hadith that preaches that it is Islamic destiny to ‎kill the Jews.

And it is not merely the theoretical ideal to kill Jews that Palestinians support. ‎Following the murder of 11 Israelis in October - November 2014, including the ‎massacre of 4 worshippers in a synagogue and the running over of a three-month-old ‎baby and other civilians in the streets of Jerusalem, a Palestinian poll found that “80% ‎support… attempts by individual Palestinians to stab or run over Israelis in Jerusalem ‎and the rest of the West Bank.” [Public Center for Policy and Survey Research (PSR), ‎Dec. 9, 2014]‎

If Palestinians are taught to dehumanize Jews as “monkeys and pigs” and are told that ‎Jews are “Allah’s enemy” whose destiny is to be exterminated by Muslims, then the ‎murder of these 11 civilians is simply part of Islam’s religious war against Jews. ‎

Islamic War against Israel ‎
In addition to the war against Jews, there is a separate religious conflict the PA ‎preaches against Israel that is defined as Ribat, an uncompromising Islamic obligation ‎to defend or liberate land said to be Islamic. Israel is considered to be Islamic land that ‎must be liberated for Allah. ‎

Mahmoud Abbas' advisor on Religious and Islamic Affairs and the Palestinian ‎Authority's Supreme Shari'ah Judge expressed this view in a speech:‎‎ ‎
‎"Al-Habbash emphasized that according to Islamic Shari'ah law, the entire land ‎of Palestine (i.e., all of Israel) is waqf (i.e., an inalienable religious endowment ‎in Islamic law) and is blessed land, and that it is prohibited to sell, bestow ‎ownership or facilitate the occupation of even a millimeter of it." ‎
‎[Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, Oct. 22, 2014]‎

Similarly, PA Chairman Abbas himself called on Palestinians to carry out Ribat at the Al-Aqsa Mosque. Abbas' statement was broadcast 19 times in 3 days on official PA TV:
"It's not enough for us to say: 'There are those carrying out Ribat' (religious conflict / war over land claimed to be Islamic). We must all carry out Ribat in the Al-Aqsa [Mosque]. It's not enough for us to say: 'The settlers have arrived [at the Mosque]'. They have come, and they must not come to the Sanctuary (i.e., Temple Mount). We have to prevent them, in any way whatsoever, from entering the Sanctuary. This is our Sanctuary, our Al-Aqsa and our Church [of the Holy Sepulchre]. They have no right to enter it. They have no right to defile it. We must prevent them. Let us stand before them with chests bared to protect our holy places."
[Official PA TV, Oct. 17-19, 2014]

PA schoolbooks likewise teach Palestinian children to view the conflict with Israel as ‎Ribat, defined as: "An action related to Jihad for Allah, and it means: Being found in ‎areas where there is a struggle between Muslims and their enemies." [Islamic ‎Education, grade 12, p. 86]. ‎

Israel is stigmatized as “an enemy” existing on Islamic land and fighting Israel is part of ‎a religious war for Islam. Palestinian youth are taught in school that their conflict with ‎Israel is "one of the greatest of the Ribat, and they [Palestinians] are worthy of a great ‎reward from Allah” and that Palestinians are “in Ribat until Resurrection." [Ibid, pp.86-‎‎87].

Another indication of the success of these PA religious teachings is Palestinian ‎support for terror in the name of Islam. According to the Washington-based PEW ‎research organization, for two years in a row, support for attacking or killing civilians in ‎‎“defense of Islam” was higher among Palestinians than any other Muslim population. ‎In 2012, 68% of Palestinians justified suicide bombings against civilians “to defend ‎Islam (31% “often” and 37% “sometimes”). The percentage of Palestinians justifying ‎suicide terror to defend their religion was twice as high as in any other Muslim country ‎polled, with the nearest being Lebanon, where only 35% justified suicide terror in ‎defense of Islam. [http://pewglobal.org] In 2013, Palestinian support for “attacks on ‎civilians… to defend Islam from its enemies” was at 62% (37% “often,” 25% ‎‎“sometimes”), by far still the highest in the world.‎

The tragic conclusion is that the Palestinian Authority has adopted and is teaching its ‎people the messages of radical Islam: On the national level, PA-Islam denies Israel's ‎right to exist. On the individual level, PA-Islam denies Jews the right to life. Until these ‎ideologies and religious beliefs are changed, there will never be an honest peace ‎process.‎

PA government warns if Israel doesn’t change its "policy" at the Al-Aqsa Mosque, it will "drag it [the region] into a religious war"
Source: Official PA daily, Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, July 29, 2015
“During the [PA] government meeting yesterday [July 28, 2015]… it stressed that the daily attacks against the Al-Aqsa [Mosque] and the worshippers are part of the crazed attack being led by the Israeli right and the settlers, under the Israeli government and its army’s protection and in flagrant complicity with them, in order to impose new facts on the ground. The [PA] government warned that if the Israeli government continues its current policy regarding Jerusalem and its holy sites, this would definitely cause the entire region to go up in flames, and drag it into a religious war.
The government saluted its people standing firm, and the Ribat fighters (i.e., Murabitin, those carrying out Ribat, religious conflict/war to protect land claimed to be Islamic), who are protecting the Al-Aqsa [Mosque] with their chests and their hands, and called on the Palestinian people, with all its parts and its popular and official institutes, wherever it may be, to stand as one protecting Jerusalem and it’s Al-Aqsa [Mosque], to carry out Ribat in it, and to come out against the plot to Judaize it.”

PA Minister of Religious Affairs calls on Palestinians to carry out Ribat to protect Al-Aqsa Mosque
Source: WAFA, official PA news agency, July 28, 2015
“[PA] Minister of Religious Affairs Sheikh Yusuf Ida'is stated that the increased Arabic and Islamic presence at the Al-Aqsa Mosque stops the plans of the occupation government and the settlers at the Al-Aqsa [Mosque] and in the holy city, and prevent their implementation.
In an interview to the Mawtiny radio station today, Tuesday [July 28, 2015], Ida’is called on anyone who can reach the Al-Aqsa Mosque to carry out Ribat (i.e., religious conflict/war over land claimed to be Islamic) in it, in order to deter the settlers from invading the mosque.
He warned of the international silence in the face of the occupation’s crimes in Jerusalem, stating: ‘The international silence gives Israel a green light to commit its crimes against our people. Every day it adds a new crime to its list, and aspires to divide the Al-Aqsa Mosque according to zones and times.’”

"Fatah spokesman Ahmad Assaf warned of the inherent danger of the plans of the Israeli occupation state, which are aimed against the Al-Aqsa Mosque and intended to take it over, in the shadow of Arab countries’ preoccupation with their internal affairs. He emphasized that the Al-Aqsa [Mosque] is an integral part of the tenets of our faith and our basic national principles, and we will defend it to our last breath... Assaf expressed sorrow regarding the Arab and Islamic silence, and stated: ‘A number of years ago, invasion of the Al-Aqsa Mosque was an unusual event that would shock the Arab countries and the world. For a while, Israel has been trying to turn these invasions into a regular event, and to some extent it has succeeded. However, it met with resounding failure [in its attempt] to defeat the Palestinian, Jerusalem, and Fatah movement Ribat fighters (Murabitin - those carrying out Ribat, religious conflict/war to protect land claimed to be Islamic) who stand firm and protect the Al-Aqsa Mosque with their bare chests.”

It stated that what occurred was a despicable crime. In a statement, it demanded of the Arabs and Muslims to do their duty to the Al-Aqsa Mosque, and held the occupation authorities fully responsible for what is happening. The council emphasized: ‘The Al-Aqsa Mosque belongs only to the Muslims, and the Jews have no connection to it – not from nearby, and not from afar. The aggression against it is leading to a religious war, and only Allah knows where it will end, and that the occupation will be the loser in it…’”

Fatah calls to protect the Al-Aqsa Mosque from Israel's "plan of Judaization" to "increase tension and turn the conflict into a religious one"
Source: WAFA, official PA news agency, July 26, 2015
“The Fatah movement emphasized the Arab identity of Jerusalem and its holy places to Islam and Christianity, and [the need to] redeem the Al-Aqsa Mosque through sacrifices. This is in order to prevent the implementation of the [Israeli] plan to Judaize it, and to [have] the invading settlers take it over. An announcement by the [Fatah] Information and Culture Commission today, Sunday [July 26, 2015] stated: ‘While Fatah declares a general call into action to protect the Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Noble Sanctuary of Jerusalem from the plan of Judaization - under which the occupation state is using its extremist settlers as a spark that would increase tension and turn the conflict into a religious one - it reemphasizes that support of Arab Jerusalem and its holy places is support of Palestine and the Arab-Palestinian national identity, as well as support of the concepts of peace embodied by the holy places of Islam and Christianity in the holy city...
Fatah saluted the Palestinian Murabitin’s (i.e., those who carry out Ribat, religious conflict/war over land claimed to be Islamic) resolve in the Al-Aqsa Mosque and their defiance to the invasion of settlers into the Noble Sanctuary of Jerusalem. In addition, it praised the citizens’ resolve and their resistance to the armed soldiers of the occupation ... It stressed that the movement’s fighters, together with the Palestinian people, are ready to take action against the [Israeli] plot and to protect the Al-Aqsa [Mosque] and all the holy places in Jerusalem - no matter how many sacrifices it takes.”

PA Mufti and Islamic council warn: Israel's "continued offensive against the Al-Aqsa Mosque warns of a religious war"

“The [Palestinian] Supreme Fatwa Council condemned the escalation of Israeli calls to invade the Al-Aqsa Mosque and hold Talmudic ceremonies (i.e., Jewish prayers) in its pure courtyards. This statement was made during a meeting of the council, led by Grand Mufti of Jerusalem and the Palestinian Territories and Head of the Supreme Fatwa Council Sheikh Muhammad Hussein, in response to the calls of the extremist, so-called ‘Association of the alleged Temple organizations’ to its supporters to carry out group invasions this Sunday [July 26, 2015], the anniversary of the so-called ‘destruction of the Temple’ (i.e., Tisha B’Av). The council regarded this call as a dangerous escalation, and an official declaration of the Al-Aqsa Mosque’s inauguration as a Jewish synagogue, as well as a pilgrimage site for Jews to hold their Talmudic ceremonies (i.e., Jewish prayers) at the expense of its Islamic character, and clarified that the continued offensive against the Al-Aqsa Mosque warns of a religious war.  In addition, it stressed that the Israeli plan to Judaize Jerusalem and the Al-Aqsa [Mosque] or to lay a hand on them is a delusion , as the only ones entitled to the mosque, its courtyards, corridors, and every part of it, are the Muslims... The council urged the citizens and Muslims in the world who can reach the Al-Aqsa [Mosque], to increase their presence in it, in order to assist it to stand firm against the plots against it, and stressed that our people will hold onto their mosque until Allah inherits the land and everything on it, whatever the required sacrifices may be.”

This was after the extremist Temple organizations called on their supporters to organize a Jewish demonstration in front of the Golden Gate (in Jerusalem’s old city walls –Ed.) this Tuesday [July 14, 2015], the 27th of Ramadan, in order to demand that the Al-Aqsa Mosque [compound] be closed to all Muslims during the anniversary of the so-called ‘destruction of the Temple.’ (i.e.,Tisha B’Av – see note). The Mufti considered this call a dangerous escalation, and explained that the continuing attack against the Al-Aqsa Mosque, its desecration, and the encouragement of the extremists to visit it, indicate an impending religious war. In addition, he stated that the calls and the aggressive plans inciting to desecrate the Al-Aqsa Mosque and its courtyards and to harm it have increased during the month of Ramadan. The Mufti called on worshippers from Jerusalem and the 1948 territories (i.e., Israel) and anyone who is able to reach the Al-Aqsa Mosque from across the homeland, to make every effort to visit it and strengthen their presence in it, in order to protect it from the ongoing and increasing attacks against it."

Headline
: "Al-Aqsa is calling you"
"O, people of the fast and people of the Quran: Palestine is the cradle of civilization, mother of emissaries, and center of prophecy. It was the first direction of prayer (i.e., Jerusalem) for the Muslims, from which the true Prophet [Muhammad] ascended to Heaven, and where resurrection of the dead will begin. On its pure land, stands the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, and the true Prophet prayed, leading the emissary prophets. It [Palestine] has been given great honor by the Lord of the Worlds, but when the corruptors defiled it, caused devastating corruption (i.e., term used about Jews in the Quran), desecrated its honor and sanctity, and killed, attacked, and spilled pure blood, it needed us to stand by its side...
In the month of Ramadan, when our footsteps crave the mosques, let us come to the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque every day, with all our strength, if we are able to do so -for the enemies of Allah from among the Children of Zion wish, through their cunning schemes, to open new channels for their economy, by opening the gates of Jerusalem (as a goodwill gesture in honor of the Ramadan, Israel wanted to allow residents of the West Bank to enter Jerusalem -Ed.). However, we are those who support the economy of our people and its homeland, and this is an opportunity for us to pray in the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque."
