Fatah spokesperson responds to Israeli newspaper: Al-Aloul has “always emphasized his full support for the legal popular resistance”

“Ziyad Khalil Abu Ziyad, a spokesman of the Fatah Movement and head of international relations in the office of the movement’s Deputy Chairman Mahmoud Al-Aloul, said that Abu Jihad (i.e., Al-Aloul) always emphasized his full support for the legal popular resistance (term used by Palestinians that includes the use of violence –Ed.). He added that there is nothing new in the article that was published on the website of the [Israeli] newspaper Yediot Aharonot [on March 10, 2017] in order to incite against the deputy president (sic). Abu Ziyad also said that at a time when the Israeli press is attempting to fish in murky waters, the Fatah leadership continues to be united and to work as one unit in full and comprehensive coordination between all of the members of the [Fatah] Central Committee, the [Fatah] Revolutionary Council, and the branch secretaries, according to Abu Ziyad’s statement.”

Abbas’ deputy says PA plans to “confront the occupation” in addition to use of diplomatic means, “Under no circumstances can we adhere to agreements with Israel”
Source: Raya, independent Palestinian news network, Feb. 22, 2017
"A few days after his appointment as deputy chairman of the Fatah Movement, it appears that Mahmoud Al-Aloul is more diplomatic when discussing the complicated topics that [the independent Palestinian news network] Raya brought up in an interview with him, beginning with his appointment as deputy chairman of Fatah, including the political changes that are shaking the region, and concluding with plans for a regional solution, the discussions of which the PA will not be included in…
[Al-Aloul said] that the position of the new American administration will be difficult for the Palestinian leadership, and noted that recently there is no choice but ‘to resist the Israeli violations.'
He said: 'We have entreated our [Arab] brothers who have largely washed their hands of us due to reasons related to them or the illusion the Americans created for them that they constitute a target for Iran and that the US and Israel can protect them.' He added: 'Some of them fell for these illusions, and gave priority to other causes.'
He revealed the fact of the existence of a 'plan' that the leadership will explain in the coming days, which relates to 'widespread political activity, which will be expressed by turning to the UN organizations and the [UN] Security Council and setting in motion the suits at the International Criminal Court against the settlements and the expected steps by the American administration,' in addition to activity on the ground whose goal is to confront the occupation.
Regarding [PA] President [Mahmoud Abbas'] allusion to stopping the security coordination [with Israel] in light of the Israeli decisions, and the possibility of taking active steps and not just making threats like many times in the past, Al-Aloul said that they are moving in the direction of 'changing the entire equation in the relations with the occupation.'

Abbas’ deputy: We must “intensify resistance activity,” claims Israel carries out “daily executions”
Source: Donia Al-Watan (independent Palestinian news agency), Feb. 21, 2017
Headline: “Al-Aloul: The two-state solution is the minimum for Palestinian[s], and the popular resistance will continue”

“Fatah Movement Deputy Chairman Mahmoud Al-Aloul emphasized that the peaceful popular resistance will continue, and emphasized that the two-state solution is the minimum to which the Palestinians can agree.
Al-Aloul said in a press interview today, Tuesday [Feb. 21, 2017], that ‘The peaceful popular resistance against Israel is an important and basic matter, and it is our option at this stage,’ and noted that sometimes it strengthens and sometimes it weakens.
Al-Aloul said: ‘As long as the Israeli aggression, the pressure, and the occupation’s crimes against the Palestinian people intensify, we must intensify the resistance activity against them.’ He noted that ‘The Israeli crimes are increasing, whether with the construction in the settlements, the land expropriation, the daily executions at the checkpoints, or the harming of the holy sites.’”

The terms "all means," "peaceful popular resistance,” and “popular uprising" are ‎often used by PA leaders to refer to events that include violence and deadly terror ‎against Israeli civilians such as rock-throwing, stabbings and even shootings. See ‎Mahmoud Abbas' reference to murderous terror as "peaceful" during the 2015-2016 ‎terror wave (“The Knife Intifada”), which included numerous stabbings, shootings and car ramming attacks in which 40 people were killed (36 Israelis, 1 Palestinian, 2 Americans and 1 Eritrean) and hundreds wounded: http://palwatch.org/main.aspx?fi=157&doc_id=16437

“Fatah Movement Supreme Leadership [Council in Gaza] member Yahya Rabah emphasized… in a special interview with [independent Palestinian news agency] Donia Al-Watan that the PA has gotten over the subject of [exiled Fatah leader Muhammad] Dahlan and considers it a thing of the past…
Regarding the appointment of Mahmoud Al-Aloul as Fatah Movement Deputy President (sic., Deputy Chairman), Rabah noted that this is a good choice, and [PA President Mahmoud] Abbas is interested in a man who will help him and not hinder him, and Al-Aloul has a great history within the movement, and he has respected standpoints as he was one of the aides of deceased Martyr (Shahid) Khalil Al-Wazir ‘Abu Jihad’ (i.e., former head of the PLO terror organization’s military wing), and added that he commands great respect from the Palestinian people and Fatah people and members.”

Headline: “Al-Aloul: The popular resistance in all of its modes is Fatah and the leadership’s choice”
“Fatah Movement Deputy Chairman Mahmoud Al-Aloul emphasized that the need for the continuation of the resistance in order to curb the Israeli occupations’ crimes and plans is the choice of Fatah and the political leadership. In an interview with Radio Mawtini yesterday [Feb. 18, 2017], Al-Aloul called to develop the popular resistance in other directions, such as construction in villages in regions that are exposed to the danger of settlement, and a broader entry into other fields, such as an economic boycott of Israeli occupation products. Al-Aloul noted that large territories of the Palestinian lands that were taken over have been returned, and that the racist separation fence has been pushed back through legal methods of popular resistance.
He added that the popular resistance in all of its modes (i.e., including violence – Ed.) is a legitimate right of occupied peoples against their occupiers, and noted the efforts to develop it in order to protect the future of the Palestinian people and its national rights.”

The election of national leader Mahmoud Al-Aloul ‘Abu Jihad’ as Deputy Chairman of the [Fatah] Movement comes as a proper part of the process of correction and the redirecting of the compass towards the Martyrs (Shahids), and out of loyalty to the wills of Yasser [Arafat] and [Khalil] Al-Wazir (i.e., former head of the PLO terror organization’s military wing), and commitment to the path of Salah Khalaf (i.e., head of the terror organization Black September), Dalal [Mughrabi] (i.e., terrorist who led murder of 37, 12 of them children), and the two Kamals [Kamal Adwan and Kamal Nasser] (i.e., senior members of the Black September terror organization).
All loyalty and appreciation for the good branch that remains of the good tree of Fatah.

Fatah Central Committee member Mahmoud Al-Aloul: (Responding to Hamas’ standpoint calling to cancel the 1993 Oslo Accords) “[The] Oslo [Accords] died a long time ago. Fatah official: "We do not renounce any option, and we believe that resistance in all its forms is a legitimate right"
Source: Official Palestinian Authority TV, Nov. 2, 2016
Official PA TV program Going to the Conference, hosting Commissioner for Mobilization and Organization and Fatah Central Committee member Mahmoud Al-Aloul, on the planned Seventh Fatah Conference
Commissioner for Mobilization and Organization and Fatah Central Committee member Mahmoud Al-Aloul: “Perhaps there are people who think that in the [recent] past the Oslo Accords took place and new and defined strategies were created that were connected to a realistic view of the situation. [However, this occurred] out of consideration for the balance of powers, and not as a strategic change. Some of the people thought that the essence of Fatah had changed, and that its strategy had changed…
Therefore, in the Sixth Fatah Conference - and we will again emphasize this in the political plan of the seventh conference – we passed a resolution that defines the identity [of Fatah], we called it a political declaration, and this declaration opens the political plan: … ‘Despite our adherence to the option of a just peace and our efforts to realize it, we declare that we do not renounce any option, and we believe that resistance in all its forms (i.e., including violence) is a legitimate right of the occupied peoples in their confrontation against the occupiers.’”

Fatah official: Shimon Peres was a "murderer and a criminal," Abbas attended his funeral because of international pressure
Source: Official Palestinian Authority TV, Oct. 11, 2016
Official PA TV program State of Politics, hosting Fatah Commissioner for Mobilization and Organization and Fatah Central Committee member Mahmoud Al-Aloul, on the criticism against PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas for attending the funeral of former Israeli President Shimon Peres on Sept. 30, 2016
Fatah Commissioner for Mobilization and Organization and Fatah Central Committee member Mahmoud Al-Aloul: “Indeed in the last few days there has been a dispute and commotion, and that has a connection to the opposition that is being talked about, opposition to [PA] President [Mahmoud Abbas in general], or opposition to his going to the funeral of… [former Israeli President] Shimon Peres, the murderer and the criminal. That is what I say about him: the murderer and the criminal. If I say that he is a murderer and a criminal, that is a different matter [than Abbas’ attendance at the funeral]. I can completely understand the step taken by the president when he went to the funeral. He is the president of the Palestinian people and the responsibility placed on him is different from the responsibility placed on me. I did not go [to the funeral], and I say that he (i.e., Peres) was a criminal. The president [Abbas] is a different matter; the president has different obligations regarding this. The entire world called him. French President [Francois Hollande], who intends to hold the international conference on which we are pinning many hopes, called him. The president has obligations that other people, who are heads of [Palestinian] factions, are free of. However, they have the right to criticize and oppose.”
