PA Education Minister: Israel is deliberately killing Palestinian children every day
Source: Official PA daily, Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, Apr. 6, 2017
Headline: “Saidam: Palestine”

“[PA Minister of Education and Higher Education Sabri] Saidam emphasized the right of the children of Palestine to a secure education and a free and dignified life, far from the fear of killing and destruction…
Saidam condemned the despicable crimes that the occupation army and extremist settlers are committing against the children of Palestine, when they intentionally and directly kill them every day, and prevent them from living and obtaining an education. He noted that the education community has lost many of its children as a result of the occupation’s violations, in addition to hundreds of children who have been wounded and permanently disabled.”
PA Minister of Education: UNRWA is prohibited from making changes to textbooks without consulting with the Ministry of Ed
Source: Official PA daily, Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, Apr. 5, 2017
Headline: "Al-Agha: UNRWA is obligated to implement the host government’s curriculum in its schools"
"PLO Executive Committee member and Director of the Department for Refugee Affairs Zakaria Al-Agha said: 'UNRWA (UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East) is obligated to implement the host government’s curriculum in its schools.' This was during his meeting with the UNRWA crisis team, comprised of the national and Islamic factions, the students' parents, and the popular committees, which was meant to discuss everything regarding the changes in the UNRWA textbooks in the PA areas.
The crisis team expressed its concern about the fact that the UNRWA administration distributed an edition that includes instructions and dictates for the teachers to change some of the teaching methods, which constitutes a blow to the culture of the Palestinian refugees’ right of return, and this concern reflects the viewpoint of the teachers, parents, and students alike.
Al-Agha emphasized that the Department for Refugee Affairs is closely monitoring this matter, as it has held a number of discussions with Arab states that are hosting Palestinian refugees, with the UNRWA administration at all of its levels, and with Palestinian [PA] Minister of Education and Higher Education [Sabri Saidam].
He emphasized: 'There is an agreement that it is forbidden to make any change to the UNRWA curriculum, which is obligated to [follow] the curriculum set by the ministry of education in all of the Arab host countries. This has also been verified by the UNRWA administration - which said that no change will be made without consultation and prior coordination with the [PA] Ministry of Education and Higher Education and its counterparts in the Arab host countries - and also by the Arab host countries and Minister Sabri Saidam.’"

Janna Jihad is a ten-year-old Palestinian girl and member of the Tamimi family, and thereby a relative of the terrorist Ahlam Tamimi who was an accomplice in the suicide bombing at the Sbarro pizza shop in 2001 in which 15 people were murdered, among them 7 children. Janna Jihad films confrontations between Palestinians and Israeli soldiers in the West Bank and Jerusalem and uploads them to Facebook. Some of these videos have featured Janna herself provoking Israeli soldiers at checkpoints.

This was said during a meeting between Saidam and [UN] Deputy Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process Robert Piper yesterday [March 28, 2017]. Saidam demanded the formation of a UN committee whose goal is to examine the incitement in the Israeli textbooks, particularly in light of the ongoing Israeli claims that accuse the Palestinian textbooks of incitement.
Saidam briefed Piper regarding the recommendations of the workshop that the ministry held recently on this topic. He emphasized that it is necessary to provide urgent protection to the Palestinian schools, and particularly those in Jerusalem, which are subject to processes of Israelization, Judaization, and a distortion of the contents of national identity.”

PA Education Minister denies Palestinian incitement in schoolbooks: Israeli schools guilty of incitement, PA education preaches “love, tolerance and freedom”
Source: Official PA daily, Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, Mar. 20, 2017
Headline: "Saidam: The occupation is the main inciter against the Palestinian people"

"[PA] Minister of Education and Higher Education Sabri Saidam emphasized that the occupation is the main inciter against the Palestinian people. He expressed his absolute opposition to all of the types of tendentious accusations against our schools and educational institutions to define them as inciting.
Saidam invited [people] to visit our schools in order to be updated on the curricula, which instill in the young minds human, global, and noble values that preach love, tolerance, and freedom. He called on everyone to open the Israeli textbooks, to examine them carefully, and to check the Israeli education methods and the content taught in the Israeli schools, and particularly the Talmudic (i.e., religious Jewish) ones among them.
In a statement he noted the series of aggressive and incessant acts by the occupation against the educational institutions throughout the homeland, and said that the occupation killed 27 students last year [2016] and injured more than 1,911 others (most were killed or injured while carrying out terror attacks –Ed.)…
Saidam presented a question to the Western states that support the Israeli schools named after Israeli murderers whose hands are covered in the blood of innocents and civilians: Who pays the salaries of people like the one who killed Martyr (Shahid) Muhammad Abu Khdeir, baby Ali Dawabsheh, his mother teacher Reham Dawabsheh, and his father (Palestinians murdered in an arson attack, see more below, Ed.), and young Abd Al-Fattah Al-Sharif (i.e., terrorist, stabbed Israeli soldier)? Who pays the salaries of the murderers of innocent children and women in the Gaza Strip, and those who buried them under the rubble of their schools and homes on ridiculous pretexts?"

PA Minister of Education glorifies imprisoned terrorist Marwan Barghouti
Source: YouTube channel of Ma’an, independent Palestinian news agency, Feb. 19, 2017
Independent Palestinian news agency Ma’an YouTube channel host: “Sister Fadwa Barghouti (i.e., the wife of terrorist prisoner Marwan Barghouti, who orchestrated three shooting attacks in which 5 were murdered) wrote a post on Facebook, which is clearly a message to the [Fatah] Central Committee – to you – and there it is written: ‘Take the positions and salaries for yourselves, but leave the homeland for me.’ A picture of prisoner Marwan Barghouti sitting in prisoners’ clothing is attached. I also noticed several mocking comments on Facebook containing political satire, about so-and-so receiving this and that [Fatah] commission - mobilization and organization, youth, foreign [affairs] - and Marwan Barghouti received Hadarim, in other words Hadarim Prison, which is to say that he was left adrift. Did you leave Marwan adrift? Honorable Minister [of Education], how do you understand this?”
PA Minister of Education and Fatah Deputy Secretary Sabri Saidam: “First of all, allow me to say that no one can skip over a man of Marwan Barghouti’s stature. He is in our hearts, and he is [a source of] pride for the Palestinian people and Fatah. In the [Fatah] Central Committee meeting only the immediate problems were dealt with.”

PA Minister of Education calls for prosecution of British government over Balfour Declaration
Source: Facebook page of PA Minister of Education Sabri Saidam, Feb. 7, 2017
Text posted on the Facebook page of PA Minister of Education Sabri Saidam

Posted text: “The government of Britain’s insistence on insulting the Palestinian people by welcoming the ruler of Tel Aviv (i.e., Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in an official visit on Feb. 6, 2017), and inviting him to a celebration that it intends to hold for the 100th anniversary of the Balfour Promise (i.e., Declaration), constitutes a deepening of its historical injustice towards the Palestinian people and the ongoing Nakbas (i.e., “catastrophes,” Palestinian term for the establishment of the State of Israel and what has happened since its establishment) that were caused to it due to [Britain], as well as cooperation with the executioner at the expense of the victim. Therefore, there is no point in demanding that Britain apologize, but rather we must put its government on trial in the world courts.”

The Balfour Declaration of Nov. 2, 1917 was a letter from British Foreign Secretary Arthur Balfour to Baron Rothschild stating that “His Majesty's government views with favour the establishment in Palestine of a national home for the Jewish people” and is seen as the basis for later international commitments to establish the State of Israel.

PA Minister of Education Sabri Saidam is asked how the PA Ministry of Education can increase the percentage of Arab students in Jerusalem that it is responsible for from the current figure of 14%, and about the PA repairing and purchasing school buildings in Jerusalem –Ed.

PA Minister of Education Sabri Saidam: “How can we deal with this war now? You know, the war is being waged every day, and every day there are important details. Some are not interested in them, but the Jerusalem resident sees them with his own eyes. We say that the campaign is not difficult and is not impossible. If you would ask someone from Jerusalem [how to fight for education], he would tell you: ‘Willpower and money.’ We are armed with desire. We are smuggling our [PA text ]books into the holy city [of Jerusalem]. Some are not familiar with this fact. I said yesterday [Feb. 3, 2017] in a meeting in Hebron: The Palestinian citizen must know first of all that the [PA] Ministry of Education and Higher Education – and I say this honestly – is smuggling its [text]books into the holy city...”

"Yesterday, the family of Martyr (Shahid) Nasser Al-Faroukh and prisoner Issam Al-Faroukh [Nov. 22, 2016] gave tablets [computers] to 30 male and female students from among the children of Martyrs in Ramallah.
The charity event was held under the auspices of the National Association of the Martyrs' Families [of Palestine], in the presence of [PA] Minister [of Education and Higher Education] Sabri Saidam, Head of the [PA] Environmental Protection Authority Adalah Al-Atira, and many children of the Martyrs and prisoners from all districts of the homeland.
This generous donation of prisoner [Issam] Al-Faroukh is from his personal salary, and the Environmental Protection Authority also gave many symbolic presents as an expression of its love for the Martyrs and their children.
The minister of education and higher education said: 'This is a new Palestinian opus written in letters of light by this genuine Palestinian family, which has sacrificed a Martyr and a prisoner, and of its own will gives gifts to our children, the students…'
Al-Atira emphasized that this is the minimum that can be given, and that it does not compare to even a part of the suffering of the Martyrs who chose the path of light for us."

Headline: “The Council for Higher Education: The occupation’s actions against the education [system] in Jerusalem are a crime”

“The [PA] Council for Higher Education condemned the Israeli occupation’s racist actions against the education [system] in Jerusalem, and primarily the brutal attack that it is waging against the Palestinian curriculum, through which it seeks to pull the Palestinian students into the Israeli curricula and universities.
These statements were made during the meeting that the council held today (Monday) [Aug. 8, 2016] in Ramallah, led by [PA] Minister of Education and Higher Education Sabri Saidam.
The council called on all of the local, international, humanitarian, and media organizations and institutions that deal with the field of human rights to come out against this attack, whose goal is to harm the educational process and blur the Palestinian national identity in the holy city.
It emphasized that the occupation’s racist steps against the education [system] and the Palestinian presence in Jerusalem require taking practical steps at the highest levels, with the support of the Arab brothers and all free people of the world, as the occupation does as it pleases in the occupied city in all fields.
Minister Saidam addressed the steps taken by the [PA] Ministry of Education and Higher Education in order to save the educational process in Jerusalem, the most recent being the distribution of the Palestinian curriculum books for free in all of the schools in Arab Jerusalem.
Saidam repeated his call to join efforts and to provide generous support, so as to preserve the education system and the Palestinian identity in Jerusalem.
He added: ‘The occupation is mustering all of its strength for the purpose of erasing the Palestinian presence in Jerusalem and destroying the education, in order to spread ignorance among the Palestinian students. It is an obligation f

He noted that the Martyrs of the Modern University College, like the rest of the homeland’s Martyrs, will continue to be the beacon that guides us and the lights that light the path to liberation for us.

In his speech, Chairman of Modern University College’s Board of Trustees Samer Al-Shuyoukhi said: ‘While it receives the graduates of this class with all honor, Modern University College remembers four of its students who were meant to participate in the joy with us and to be among us.
