PA Mufti warns of “disasters of wars, anarchy, and instability” in region following US embassy move to Jerusalem, urges Palestinians and Muslims to “sacrifice all that is dear to them”
Source: Official PA daily, Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, Feb. 26, 2018
“[PA] Grand Mufti of Jerusalem and the Palestinian Territories, preacher at the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, [and Palestinian Supreme Fatwa Council Chairman] Sheikh Muhammad Hussein warned against the severity of the American administration’s decision on transferring its embassy to occupied Jerusalem, which was set for Nakba Day (see notes, Ed.). He said that this testifies to the insolence that those who are biased in favor of the occupation have reached, while they continue to do an injustice to our people and its holy sites and to blatantly harm the Palestinian cause in an attempt to eliminate it. The mufti emphasized that this arbitrary behavior will have severe consequences that the American administration will bear. He explained that the transfer of the American embassy to Jerusalem, if it is carried out, will not be an attack on the Palestinians alone, but rather a blatant attack on the Arabs and Muslims throughout the world…and that it will not serve peace and security in the region, but rather bring upon it disasters of wars, anarchy, and instability. Sheikh Hussein added that the residents of Jerusalem and all of the Palestinians, Arabs, and Muslims will not submit to this blatant attack, and will sacrifice all that is dear to them in order to confront the American stubbornness.”

Op-ed in PA daily: Trump’s political decisions, including decision to transfer US embassy to Jerusalem, stem from a “complex, impulsive, unbalanced, and mentally unstable personality”
Source: Official PA daily, Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, Feb. 25, 2018
Excerpt of an op-ed by Muwaffaq Matar, Fatah Revolutionary Council member and regular columnist for the official PA daily

Headline: “Washington is the first loser”
“We will do no injustice to American President Donald Trump if we say that his political decisions, and particularly those that are connected to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, stem from a complex, impulsive, unbalanced, and mentally unstable personality, and in our opinion these are the main characteristics of the racist personality.
Trump is proving that he is not only aggressive, rude, and controlling, but that he is a combination of a mentality of theft and of a denial of the rights of others, and these are exactly the characteristics of the Zionist personality....”

Trump is leading a war against the Arab and Islamic nation; US and Israel are the only enemies, Trump is "fascist, Nazi, and a lunatic,” says Fatah official
Source: Official Palestinian Authority TV, Feb. 25, 2018

Official PA TV program
Topic of the Day, on US President Donald Trump being an “enemy” of the Palestinians, hosting Fatah Central Committee member Jamal Muhaisen

Fatah Central Committee member Jamal Muhaisen:
“It was incumbent on [US President] Trump - if he wasn’t a fascist and Nazi in his thinking - to respond to brother [PA] President Mahmoud Abbas’ speech and initiative at the [UN] Security Council by taking back or at least giving a positive interpretation to what he said and the ideas that he proposed… A large state like the US, which is supposed to act in order to implement international decisions and world peace, is today the one harming world peace due to this blind bias in favor of the occupation… The The US only pursues its interests, which are to destroy the Arab region so that Israel – which was planted in the region by colonialism – will rule the region and the Islamic nation will be destroyed... Therefore I say: The only enemy – and it is clear why I say the only enemy – the only enemy and only danger to the region, to peace in the region and in the world, is Israel and the US.”

PLO Chief Negotiator: Trump administration “constitutes a true danger to the security, stability, and integrity of this region and of its peoples”
Source: Official Palestinian Authority TV, Feb. 24, 2018
Official PA TV News, on the US moving its embassy to Jerusalem in May and how it is endangering the Middle East, hosting PLO Executive Committee Secretary, Fatah Central Committee member, and PLO Chief Negotiator Saeb Erekat

PLO Executive Committee Secretary, Fatah Central Committee member, and PLO Chief Negotiator Saeb Erekat: “The states have understood that [US] President [Donald] Trump’s administration is threatening the interests, threatening the international security, peace, and stability. This is the truth. Therefore our next steps, particularly when we will have a conference held in Riyadh- it’s impossible that we as the Palestinian side will allow the situation to continue as it is. We are part of this region. Our children and grandchildren are an inseparable part of this region’s security and stability for the coming generations. We have no choice but to conduct a true self-examination so that we’ll be able to stand against this danger. This administration constitutes a true danger to the security, stability, and integrity of this region and of its peoples, in the full sense of the word.”

PA Presidential spokesman and PLO chief negotiator slam US decision of date for US embassy move to Jerusalem
Source: Official PA daily, Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, Feb. 24, 2018

“Official [PA] Presidential Spokesman [and Fatah Central Committee member] Nabil Abu Rudeina said in response to the US decision to transfer its embassy to Jerusalem in May [2018] that any unilateral step will not contribute to establishing peace and will not legitimize anyone…
PLO Executive Committee Secretary, [Fatah Central Committee member, and PLO Chief Negotiator] Saeb Erekat said: ‘The American administration’s decision to recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s capital and to choose the date of Nakba Day (i.e., “the catastrophe,” Palestinian term for the establishment of the State of Israel) of the Palestinian people (the US embassy in Jerusalem is set to open on May 14, 2018, on the anniversary of Israel’s declaration of independence according to the Gregorian calendar, Palestinians mark Nakba Day on May 15. -Ed.) to take this step constitutes an arbitrary violation of international law… and the continuing destruction of the two-state solution. The choice of this date constitutes a provocation of the sensibilities of all the Arabs and Muslims, something which we most adamantly condemn.’’”

Palestinian National Council: US decision of date to transfer embassy to Jerusalem is “blatant defiance towards the international, Arab, and Islamic will”
Source: Official Palestinian Authority TV, Feb. 24, 2018
Official PA TV News, on the Palestinian National Council’s response to the decision of US President Donald Trump’s administration to transfer the US embassy to Jerusalem on May 14, 2018, on the 70th anniversary of Israel's declaration of independence

Official PA TV newsreader: “The Palestinian National Council (i.e., the legislative body of the PLO) considered the American administration’s declaration on the execution of its decision to transfer its embassy to occupied Jerusalem as blatant defiance towards the international, Arab, and Islamic will, and as an intensification of the aggression towards the rights of our people. The Council emphasized that the American administration’s insistence on carrying out the aggressive decision proves again that it has chosen isolation and to distance itself from peace in favor of the occupation, and has made it responsible for the consequences of this. The Council demanded that the Arab and Islamic nation defend Jerusalem and its holy sites, and harness their full abilities and connections in order to prevent the execution of this decision…
[The Council] pointed out that the transfer of the embassy at the same time as the anniversary of the Nakba (i.e., “the catastrophe,” Palestinian term for the establishment of the State of Israel. The US embassy is set to open on May 14, the anniversary of Israel’s declaration of independence. Palestinians mark Nakba Day on May 15 -Ed.) was meant to add to the contempt for the national sensibilities of our people who are confronting the occupation’s terror and its settlers.”

Abbas speech to UN Security Council demonizes Israel, slams US, but proposes international peace plan
Source: WAFA, official PA news agency, Feb. 20, 2018
This transcript of PA Chairman Abbas' speech before the UN Security Council on Feb. 20, 2018 was published by Wafa, the official Palestinian Authority news agency, on Feb. 20, 2018.

"Seventy years have passed since Palestine’s Nakba, from which 6 million Palestine refugees continue to suffer from the cruelty of exile and loss of human security. They continue to wander the world after the loss of their peaceful and stable lives in their homeland. They are part of the 13 million Palestinians, whose country has not yet been recognized as full Member State of the United Nations, despite the numerous resolutions reaffirming their right to self-determination and statehood on their national land.
We are the descendants of the Canaanites that lived in the land of Palestine 5,000 years ago and continuously remained there to this day. Our great people remain rooted in their land. The Palestinian people built their own cities and homeland and made contributions to humanity and civilization witnessed by the world. They established institutions, schools, hospitals, cultural organizations, theaters, libraries, newspapers, publishing houses, economic organizations, businesses and banks, with wide regional and international influence.
All of this existed before and after the Balfour Declaration issued by the British Government in 1917, a declaration by which those who did not own, giving to those who had no right. The British Government bears responsibility for the catastrophic consequences inflicted on the Palestinian people as a result..."

Fatah official, speaking on Abbas' behalf: US embassy move and recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital will be "thwarted;" Zionism "is striving to take over the world's resources by force"
Source: Official PA daily, Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, Feb. 7, 2018
"In his speech on behalf of the president [Abbas], [Fatah Central Committee member and Fatah Commissioner for Arab and China Relations] Abbas Zaki said that US President Trump's decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and transfer his country's embassy to it will be thwarted thanks to the Palestinian resolve, thanks to the resolve of the entire world – Muslims, Christians, and Jews – against this foolish decision, and by imposing international isolation on the US and the occupation… He said: 'Our conflict is not with the Jews, but rather with Zionism, which has no values and principles, and which does not attach importance to rights and laws. It includes people that are not Jews and is striving to take over the world's resources by force… [Zaki] said: 'Our position is strong - we reject that any mosque should constitute an alternative to the Al-Aqsa Mosque. One hundred and thirty-eight states in the world recognize the State of Palestine, and we demand that they revoke their recognition of Israel…' He added that the Palestinian leadership has objected to the decision to denounce [Chairman of Hamas’ Political Bureau] Ismail Haniyeh as a terrorist (he was added to the US terror list; see note below –Ed.)."
PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas rejects all negotiations with the US if Jerusalem and refugee problem are off the table
Source: Official Palestinian Authority TV, Feb. 6, 2018
Official PA TV, PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas’ speech at the opening event of the Jerusalem the Capital of the Islamic Youth 2018 conference at the PA headquarters in Ramallah

PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas: “Not only have [the Americans] taken Jerusalem off the table, but they have also spoken about UNRWA (UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East) in order to take the issue of the refugees off the table, while they caused the refugee problem. They are the central problem for the refugee problem. Nevertheless, they said: ‘The refugees are off the table, let’s talk together.’ What will we talk about? If you have taken out the refugees and Jerusalem, what will we talk to you about? We will not talk to you under any circumstances!"

On Jan. 25, 2018, US President Donald Trump held a joint press conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum annual meeting in Davos, Switzerland. Referring to how he officially recognized Jerusalem as Israel’s capital on Dec. 6, 2017, Trump told Netanyahu: "We took Jerusalem off the table.” When asked by a reporter whether Jerusalem being “off the table" meant that none of it would be part of a future Palestinian state, Trump refused to elaborate, responding: "Next question." Trump also said that the US would stop providing financial aid to the PA if they did not return to negotiations with Israel.

In early January 2018, the US froze two planned payments to UNRWA (UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East) for more than $100 million, and the US administration spoke about the need to reexamine and conduct a reform of the UN body. This occurred after the PA refused to negotiate with Israel and cut diplomatic ties with America following US recognition of Jerusalem as Israel's capital on Dec. 6, 2017.

Fatah official: "There is no such thing as the capital city of the Jews;" Israel is "exploiting religion in order to justify its massacres and the terror" against Palestinians
Source: Official Palestinian Authority TV, Feb. 5, 2018
Official PA TV program Pulse of the Fields, hosting Fatah Central Committee Secretary and Head of the PLO Supreme Council for Sport and Youth Affairs Jibril Rajoub

Fatah Central Committee Secretary and Head of the PLO Supreme Council for Sport and Youth Affairs Jibril Rajoub: “We think that Jerusalem is a holy city for all of the religions, because all of the monotheistic religions were given in Jerusalem. But we have not agreed, and will not agree, and will not allow there to be sovereignty for the Israeli occupation there or sovereignty for the Jewish religion, which we recognize, because there is no such thing as the capital city of the Jews (previously Rajoub said there would be Jewish sovereignty at the Western Wall; see note below –Ed.). There is no religion that has a capital city, other than in the logic of [US President Donald] Trump (sic., one such example is the Vatican; comment refers to Trump’s recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital)…
There will only be security, peace, and stability after the return of Jerusalem to its owners, and when Jerusalem will be open to all of the monotheistic religions for ritual purposes, and not as part of the Zionist colonialist project, which is exploiting religion in order to justify its massacres and the terror that it is committing against the Palestinian people.”

“Secretary-General of the Palestinian Liberation Front and PLO Executive Committee member Dr. Wasel Abu Yusuf… warned against [US President Donald Trump's] deal of the century whose goal is to eliminate the Palestinian cause through American decisions and reduce Washington’s aid to UNRWA (UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East). He emphasized that the Palestinian people everywhere it is located adheres to the right of return, to the fact that Jerusalem is the capital of Palestine and that it is necessary to deal with the dangers surrounding the issue – and particularly to all that concerns the American recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of the occupation entity…
Abu Yusuf emphasized that it is necessary to escalate the intifada and the resistance in all of its forms (‎i.e., term used by Palestinians, which also refers to the use of violence and terror‎) against the occupation, until [US President Donald] Trump’s decision is brought down. Abbas in rare statement: “We adhere to the culture of peace, despite the pressures to which we are subjected, such as the matter of Jerusalem and the matter of UNRWA funding”
Source: Official PA daily, Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, Feb. 1, 2018
Headline: “In joint press statements with the German foreign minister – the [PA] president: We rely on the role of Europe to reach a permanent and just peace in the region”

“[PA] President Mahmoud Abbas said: ‘We rely on the German and French role, through the European Union, and together with the US, in order to reach a permanent and just peace in the region.’ This was said as part of joint press statements with German Foreign Minister Sigmar Gabriel yesterday [Jan. 31, 2018] at the [PA] presidential headquarters in Ramallah…
President [Abbas] said: ‘We adhere to the culture of peace, despite the pressures to which we are subjected, such as the matter of Jerusalem and the matter of UNRWA (UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East) funding. We again emphasize that terror [must be] fought everywhere.’”

PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas’ statement on “the matter of Jerusalem and the matter of UNRWA funding” refers to US recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital and the US withholding funding for UNRWA.

Official PA TV host: “Many states have said that the American money is not for blackmail and that the decision-”

Fatah Revolutionary Council Deputy Secretary Fayez Abu Aita: “It is important that we, our people, and our leadership will say these things, and we have said this, that the American and other money is not for the blackmailing of our Palestinian people. We say that all of the US money - not that which it is giving UNRWA - is not worth a grain of dirt from the land of Jerusalem to the Palestinian people. Therefore the Palestinian people will not submit to this blackmail, and we say more than this: This American money is a right and an obligation of the US and of the members of the international community. What is important is that this is a moral, human, and legal obligation towards the Nakba (i.e., “the catastrophe,” the Palestinian term for the establishment of the State of Israel) for which the international c ommunity and the UN are responsible. [The UN] is the one that gave Britain the mandate over Palestine, and therefore it was required to protect the Palestinian people and help it declare independence. However, the international policy unfortunately led to the theft of Palestine and the Zionist gangs taking control…"

Palestinian “activists” disrupt American delegation visiting the Bethlehem district following US recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital
Source: PNN Palestine News Network (independent Palestinian news agency), Jan. 30, 2018
Headline: “Following the expulsion of an American delegation from Bethlehem, the American State Department said that it opposes the turn to violence as a means of expressing political positions”

“The American State Department responded in a statement to the expulsion of an American delegation that visited the Bethlehem district Chamber of Commerce and Industry this morning, Tuesday [Jan. 30, 2018], and said that it opposes the turn to violence as a means of expressing political positions.

The American State Department said in a notice from its spokesperson: ‘The program that the American Consulate General in Jerusalem organized in Bethlehem was thwarted by lawless protesters.’
According to the American State Department, this program is part of the long-term American assistance in creating economic opportunities for the Palestinians…
A group of Palestinian activists in Bethlehem this morning, Tuesday, expelled an American delegation that was visiting the Bethlehem district Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
The activists broke into the Chamber of Commerce building and one of the halls in which a workshop of a group of senior American officials at the American consulate was being held and drove them out of the room. Afterwards, they threw eggs and tomatoes at the American consulate vehicles and hit the American diplomatic vehicles with their hands and feet while repeating calls condemning the American position…
The Fatah Movement secretary at the Aida refugee camp said that the Bethlehem Chamber of Commerce and Industry, led by Samir Hazboun, welcomed the American State Department delegation at its building. This decision contradicts the national decision that called not to welcome the Americans, whose President [Donald Trump] declared Jerusalem as Israel’s capital. He added: ‘The Palestinian people will not welcome any American party.’”
