Op-ed in PA daily calls President Trump “stupid,” following his recognition of Jerusalem as Israel's capital

Headline: “The great lie”
“There is no greater lie in the Israeli media than the lie of ‘unified Jerusalem’… You have Jerusalem and we have Al-Quds. [Former Israeli Presidents and Prime Ministers Levi] Eshkol, [Menachem] Begin, [Yitzhak] Rabin, [Yitzhak] Shamir, [Ehud] Barak, and [Benjamin] ‘Bibi’ [Netanyahu] have not succeeded in unifying it… There is no border strip that separates east and west [Jerusalem], no reinforced cement separation wall, and no trenches . You drive in your car from Sha’ar Hagai, through Abu Ghosh, and enter western Jerusalem. You travel and find yourself in front of a celestial wall that tells you: ‘Here begins Arab Jerusalem.’ The atmosphere changes, a breeze scented with the fragrance of history blows, and then you say: ‘How stupid is this man whose name is [US President Donald] Trump!’
Several years ago I was visited by Dr. Jamal Al-Assadi… who translated my collection of stories A Rose to Hafeeza’s Eyes into English, together with American author Martha Moody and her little son. While we were eating lunch I said: ‘I think that [former US] President George Bush, the son, is the stupidest president that America has known.’ The author’s son stopped eating, looked at me in amazement, and said to his mother: ‘I play a game with my friends in the schoolyard [called] Stupid President Bush!’
What are the children in America playing today?”
Fatah official: US threats to cut aid to the PA are “extortionist”
Source: Wattan (independent Palestinian news agency)‎, Dec. 25, 2017
Headline: "Azzam Al-Ahmad: The PA will not be dismantled and the battle is open against the Trump administration"
"Fatah Movement Central Committee member Azzam Al-Ahmad said that the American administration is planning to take a series of steps in order to pressure the PA, among them stopping the aid and cutting off ties and relations between the sides… He noted that the American administration is talking today about ‘stopping the aid to the PA, and this is a decision that congress has already voted on previously,’ and he said: '[US President Donald] Trump's extortionist mentality regarding stopping the aid does not scare the Palestinians, who cannot be bought for money by anyone.'"

Fatah deputy chairman: “Nothing has come from the US but troubles for the Arab nation and the Palestinian people”
Source: Official Palestinian Authority TV, Dec. 24, 2017
Official PA TV program State of Politics, hosting Fatah Deputy Chairman and Fatah Central Committee member Mahmoud Al-Aloul

Fatah Deputy Chairman and Fatah Central Committee member Mahmoud Al-Aloul: “Now, what’s the story? We must s eriously return to our story with the Americans. I’ll tell you something, and everyone needs to know this very clearly… ‘But perhaps you hate a thing and it is good for you’ (Quran, Sura 2:216, Sahih International translation). This is an opportunity for us to get into an argument with the USA. If someone has an illusion or belief that the US – up till now – that something good might come from it to the Palestinian people or to the Arab nation – let them come debate us. The matter has been clarified. Nothing has come from the US but troubles for the Arab nation and the Palestinian people... Let someone examine the connection with the US, not just with [US President Donald] Trump [but rather with] all of the American administrations that have come one after the other... Let whoever has something to say [backing the claim] that something good has come from the Americans over the years for us [Palestinians] and for the Arab nation - whoever has something [backing this claim], let them come and say, ‘Here we are!’ Let them tell me what has come from the Americans in the years that have passed. Nothing at all! […] For the sake of Jerusalem we have been forced to deal with this challenge that the USA has placed. We ask the people, for Allah’s sake, we beg of you, [pay attention that] our compass [as Arabs] is towards Jerusalem. We have no enemy other than the Israeli occupation and the policy of the USA is a partner to [Israel] in the occupation. This is our main enemy.”

Op-ed in PA daily, criticizing US recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital, compares Trump to Shylock
Source: Official PA daily, Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, Dec. 23, 2017
Excerpt of an op-ed by Yahya Rabah, regular columnist for the official PA daily

“With disparaging stubbornness, matters reached the point that Trump stood before the cameras in the White House and announced this foolish and wretched decision, as if Trump premeditatedly – as the jurists say – decided to choose from among the models the model of Shylock - the American Shylock, in the style of the Jewish Shylock, whose character was precisely outlined by the great playwright Shakespeare in his famous play The Merchant of Venice, which is read by millions, and in all languages (in the play, the Jewish character Shylock is a sly moneylender who demands that a debtor repay him with a pound of flesh, before later being defeated and forced to convert to Christianity –Ed.)…
Is a man like this, like Donald Trump, fit to be the US president?”

Abbas in France: “The US is no longer a fair mediator in the peace process… We are the ones who are disseminating the culture of peace instead of war… Israel is our neighbor and we want to make peace with it”
Source: Official PA daily, Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, Dec. 23, 2017
Excerpt of PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas’ statement at a joint press conference together with French President Emmanuel Macron on Dec. 22, 2017, in France

"[PA President Mahmoud Abbas:] 'As a result of [US] President [Donald] Trump's determination that Jerusalem is the capital of the State of Israel and decision to transfer the embassy there, I have emphasized before His Honor [French] President [Emmanuel] Macron that the US is no longer a fair mediator in the peace process, and that we will not agree to any plan from it as it is biased [in favor of Israel] and violates international law… Whoever presents such a plan, according to which united Jerusalem is the capital of the State of Israel, and transfers its embassy there in violation of all of the international decisions - I do not think that he is capable of presenting a just and reasonable solution for establishing peace in the Middle East…
Everyone knows that we are among the official parties in the world that are fighting violence and terror throughout the world... We are the ones who are disseminating the culture of peace instead of war, and that is how our people is now characterized. Therefore, you see that all of the demonstrations that have been held in the Palestinian territories have been peaceful demonstrations (sic., the demonstrations have included rioting and rock throwing, and been accompanied by stabbings and stabbing attempts)… We want peace with Israel. Israel is our neighbor and we want to make peace with it and live in peace with it.'"

Supreme Shari’ah Judge, PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas’ advisor on Religious and Islamic Affairs, and Chairman of the Supreme Council for Shari'ah Justice Mahmoud Al-Habbash: "Yesterday you saw, brothers, how the world returned a slap to American President [Trump], how the entire world that the American president had threatened, stuck its tongue out at him and said: 'We are not bought with your dollars, and we are not bought with your aid. From the outset, you did not give us aid because of our beautiful eyes. You aid us for your own interest, and out of your own interests and calculations. So stop this aid!"

Abbas’ advisor: "Jerusalem is only ours… We were in Jerusalem more than 5,000 years"

Official PA TV, excerpt of sermon by Supreme Shari’ah Judge, Mahmoud Abbas’ advisor on Religious and Islamic Affairs, and Chairman of the Supreme Council for Shari'ah Justice Mahmoud Al-Habbash at the mosque in the PA headquarters in Ramallah

Supreme Shari’ah Judge and Mahmoud Abbas’ advisor on Religious and Islamic Affairs Mahmoud Al-Habbash:
"Jerusalem is only ours, only ours. They [the Americans] know it. It is a strange thing that a state that is only a little older than 200 years. takes a stand toward a city that is 5,000 years old. Where was America when Jerusalem was built, that it should decide whose capital it is? And where was Israel when Jerusalem was built? Jerusalem was here before America and before Israel and before Europe and before this entire world. We were in Jerusalem more than 5,000 years ago, and we have not left it... America, which - as they say - was born yesterday, wants to decide the fate of a city whose age is greater than history."

Abbas’ advisor mocks America and other states that voted against UN resolution on Jerusalem

Supreme Shari’ah Judge and Mahmoud Abbas’ advisor on Religious and Islamic Affairs Mahmoud Al-Habbash:
"Thank you to the civilized world that yesterday said a decisive word [in UN vote condemning the US recognition of Jerusalem], and shame on the nine usual voices – America and a few other satellite states that I tried hard to find on the map and didn’t find their names. Palau, Malau (i.e., meant mockingly), Micronesia - states that no one has heard of! Perhaps the number of their residents equals the number of residents of a ruin, or a small village, or even a street in a Palestinian city. Are these states that will decide the fate of Jerusalem? These thsings, these names of no value? Micro-nesia, micro, small. Someone wrote: ‘I thought that was the name of an antibiotic.’"

Abbas’ advisor: “America will not remain America… Jerusalem is Palestine’s capital forever”
Source: Official Palestinian Authority TV, Dec. 22, 2017

Supreme Shari’ah Judge and Mahmoud Abbas’ advisor on Religious and Islamic Affairs Mahmoud Al-Habbash:
"Jerusalem and the Al-Aqsa Mosque are greater than history, and greater than all of the nations and peoples… The one who determines the fate of Jerusalem is not the American president, and not America, and not all of the states of the world… The one who determined the fate of Jerusalem is Allah… Jerusalem is Arab, Islamic, Palestinian, and also Christian forever! Forever!... Trust in Allah, the balance will change. America will not remain America, and the present world will not remain as it is…  The most important, permanent, and influential factor in the battle for Jerusalem – and I say this to the entire nation – is the factor of religion and faith… The victory in Jerusalem is coming, it is coming. And Jerusalem is Palestine’s capital forever! Forever! And the rubbish of the American president isn’t worth – I say again – isn’t worth the urine of one Jerusalem child."

Political analyst on PA TV following US decision on Jerusalem: “The day will come when we will buy every Palestinian a rifle”
Source: Official Palestinian Authority TV, Dec. 22, 2017
Official PA TV, special broadcast on US President Donald Trump’s recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital, hosting political analyst Hani Abu Zaid

Official PA TV host: “How do these sights [of Palestinian protest] affect global public opinion, and particularly – and I want to remind you and the viewers – today [Dec. 22, 2017] French President [Emmanuel Macron] said in a press conference with [PA] President [Mahmoud Abbas] that the events and bloodshed that came following [US President Donald] Trump’s decision [to recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s capital] on Dec. 6 [2017] are unacceptable.” […]
Hani Abu Zaid: “And in the past, on this program, I told you that the day will come when we will buy every Palestinian a rifle. But always, when we agree on something, we do not violate the commitment. We have been agreeing to the continuation of a peace process before the world for 23 years - but what peace process? After all that has happened – let the president say what he will say, and let the political leaders say what they will say, but honestly, turn to the Palestinian and Arab publics – there is no longer any peace process…
On Dec. 6, the Oslo Accords were buried and the talk about that which is called the peace process stopped completely. Today we are in a new struggle, a new struggle of wills, and in a new battle that requires new methods in the political and diplomatic work, in addition to the public movement, public activity, intifada, and confrontations. We need international pressure and international aid from our Arab brothers and our friends in the world, and this is the beginning of the diplomatic action – President [Abbas] visiting President Macron in order to put in place a new mechanism on the international front, so that we will be able firstly to demand a fully sovereign state at the [UN] General Assembly, and secondly to
PA TV host and magazine editor deny Jewish historical ties to the land of Israel

Official PA TV, special broadcast on US President Donald Trump’s recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital, hosting Editor-in-Chief of the Siyasat Magazine Atef Abu Saif

Official PA TV host: “Israelis historians are coming out and saying: ‘We have proven, and the attempts have proven after 50 years of searching and research, that there is nothing that indicates a Jewish civilization (sic. , such evidence abounds).’”
Editor-in-Chief of the Siyasat Magazine Atef Abu Saif: “The Jews passed through. Their original name is the Hebrews. They actually- if we want to count how many people have passed through our land and we hosted them, fed them, gave them drink, and said, ‘We will build you a home next to us here,’ then it works out that all of the peoples of the world- and that is the value of Palestine. However, the Zionist racism came to change reality. In other words, if we- after all, the P ersians lived with us (sic., there were no Palestinians during the Persian occupation of the Land of Israel in the 6th-4th century BCE). This is the land of the civilizations... Therefore, it is impossible to say anything bad about the Palestinian people. The entire world wants Palestine, but it is not the right of anyone other than the Palestinian civilians, who are the descendants of this huge river of the civilizations, this great river of heritage and cultural values. They are the only ones who own this land.”
