US recognition of Jerusalem as capital of Israel - On Dec. 6, 2017, US President Donald Trump gave a speech formally recognizing Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and stating that he had instructed the State Department to begin preparations to transfer the US embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. Trump concluded by stating that the US is still fully committed to the peace process in the Middle East. Fatah official on US recognition of Jerusalem as Israeli capital: “All the options are open,” if decision is not withdrawn it will be “open war” on Palestinians and the Arab world
Source: Official Palestinian Authority TV, Dec. 10, 2017
Official PA TV, program Palestine This Morning, interview with Fatah Supreme Leadership Council in the Southern Districts (the Gaza Strip) member Najah Aliwa

Host: “What are the political options that currently stand before the Palestinian leadership in dealing with Trump’s decision regarding the matter of Jerusalem?”
Najah Aliwa: “As we have said, the first political step that the Palestinian leadership has taken is boycotting and not receiving any responsible party from America, and not only [US] Vice President [Mike Pence]. Any American responsible party – political, diplomatic – the Palestinian leadership will not receive them, and will not ascribe any importance to them, because the mere meeting with them is recognition of this decision, and this is a politically and internationally rejected decision… Therefore we adhere to our right, and all of the options are open, as we have said.
[…]
Host: “If the American administration will not withdraw from this decision, what can the results on the ground be?”
Aliwa: “In this way it [the US] will declare an open war against the Palestinian people and Arab people. This decision, if [the US] adheres to it, is an open war. In this way they are cutting the line of peace in this region, in the entire region and not just from the Palestinian territories…
And as the proverb says: Whoever plays with fire is burned by it, and whoever ignites a fire must know how to put it out… I think that the one who made this decision and ignited a fire did not foresee the consequences that could follow this decision, and the war will be open, and all the options are open, and no one can foresee what will be in the end...”

Op-ed in PA daily: “Israeli archaeologists… have not found a single archaeological remnant related to the third Temple”
Source: Official PA daily, Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, Dec. 9, 2017
Excerpt of an op-ed by Omar Hilmi Al-Ghoul, regular columnist of the official PA daily

Headline: "Refuting the lies [about] reality "
"As part of his excuses that are unfounded and contrary to reality, [US President] Donald Trump claimed that he did nothing but recognize the reality in Jerusalem (i.e., by recognizing it as Israel’s capital)…
He contradicted history when he claimed that Jerusalem has been the capital of Israel and the Jews for 3,000 years.
It is not the intention to examine the falsification of history and ignorance [in Trump's claim], or the alignment with the false Zionist narrative, because that is as clear as the sun. If Trump wants to know the truth, he can turn to the Israeli archaeologists who have searched for the last 70 years and have not found a single archaeological remnant related to the third Temple (sic., no third Temple has ever been built, and numerous evidence of the previous two Temples has been found -Ed.), or even other archaeological remnants that are connected to Jews in Palestine in general (sic., such archaeological evidence is abundant –Ed.)"

Abbas’ Advisor justifies salaries to terrorists’ families on official PA TV after US recognizes Jerusalem as Israel’s capital

Official PA TV, special broadcast on US President Donald Trump’s decision to recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s capital and transfer the US embassy to Jerusalem, hosting PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas' advisor on Foreign Affairs and International Relations Nabil Shaath

Official PA TV host: “Dr. Nabil [Shaath], you have monitored the [Arab] efforts up to the moment the A rab foreign ministers’ convention was held. [What is] the significance of this meeting from your perspective in light of the American position that is biased towards the occupation state and violates the international laws and legitimacy?”

PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas' advisor on Foreign Affairs and International Relations Nabil Shaath: “[US President Donald] Trump attempted to press us by closing the Palestinian [PLO] embassy in Washington (see note below –Ed.). He attempted to press us by cutting $300 million from the budget allocated to Palestine on the claim that it equals what the Palestinians pay to the families of the Martyrs (Shahids) and families of the prisoners, as if it is a crime to pay the victims of the Israeli hostile acts and Israeli crimes [an amount] that is at least enough for the needs of their families. All of these measures [are intended] to pressure us. Will our [Arab] nation stand up and cancel this [US] pressure by actually presenting the material aid in place of [the money] the US has cut and is cutting from the money intended for us?”

Source: Official Palestinian Authority TV, Dec. 9, 2017
Official PA TV News, on the cancellation of PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas’ meeting with US Vice President Mike Pence

Official PA TV newsreader: “Advisor to [PA] President [Mahmoud Abbas] on Diplomatic Affairs Majdi Al-Khaledi emphasized that President Abbas will under no circumstances receive American Vice President Mike Pence, who will visit the region in the second half of [December 2017]. Al-Khaledi said in a statement to [official PA radio station] The Voice of Palestine that there will be no meeting with Pence, and that the issue is greater than a mere meeting because the US - in its decisions relating to Jerusalem (i.e., to recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s capital and transfer the US embassy there; see note below) - has crossed red lines that it should not have crossed. Al-Khaledi rejected the American warnings regarding the consequences of cancelling this meeting, and emphasized that our people and its leadership reject any threat from anywhere.”

Abbas’ advisor incites religious war: US President Trump’s recognition of Jerusalem as Israel`s capital is “a crime against humanity... How do Muslims... allow this sin? … It will open the gates of hell”
Source: Official Palestinian Authority TV, Dec. 8, 2017

Official PA TV, Friday prayers at the mosque at the PA headquarters in Ramallah, sermon by Mahmoud Al-Habbash
.

Supreme Shari’ah Judge and Mahmoud Abbas’ advisor on Religious and Islamic Affairs, Mahmoud Al-Habbash: "This crime that American President [Trump] committed [by recognizing Jerusalem as Israel’s capital] is not only against Palestine, but also against all of humanity, against the Muslims, and against the Christians. How does he allow himself to give the keys to Jerusalem to those who are not its people? He wants to repeat the sin and crime of [former British Foreign Secretary] Balfour... How do the Muslims of the world allow this sin? How do the Christians of the world allow handing over the keys to [the Church of] the Holy Sepulchre to those who are not from Jerusalem, to those who are not Palestinians... It could be that everyone knows and everyone assumes that this sin, which the American president committed, will open the gates of hell, as Sheikh Al-Azhar said – not only in the East, but in both the East and the West. Nobody should think, wherever he is in the world, that he will be able to prevent the consequences of this sin... Jerusalem is ours and not yours. It has been ours for 5,000 years and it will remain ours until Allah will inherit the earth and whoever is on it."

Fatah official: Trump is "crazy," his recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital is "completely rejected… Jerusalem will never be Jewish"
Source: Official PA daily, Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, Dec. 8, 2017
"Fatah Movement Central Committee member, [Fatah Commissioner of Mobilization and Organization in the West Bank, and PLO Central Council member] Jamal Muhaisen said: ‘From Al-Usoud Square in the heart of Ramallah and El-Bireh, these masses have come to say to America’s crazy man [US President Donald Trump] that his decision is completely rejected, has no legal or practical value, and Jerusalem will never be Jewish and will remain Arab Palestinian and Islamic-Christian.’
Muhaisen called on the American administration and [Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin] Netanyahu’s government to again review history and learn lessons from it, as the occupation’s American arsenal has not succeeded during 70 years of aggression in eliminating the identity, right, and struggle, and these strides will also not break the will of the Palestinian people.”

Fatah Central Committee member says salaries and payments to terrorists and their families “cannot be neglected under any pressure”

Al-Ahmad referred to the fact that this American step comes at the same time as the decision published by Congress regarding reducing the amount of American aid to the PA (i.e., referring to the Taylor Force Act; see note below), in an attempt to apply pressure to stop the aid to the families of the courageous Martyrs (Shahids) and prisoners, and said: ‘The Martyrs and prisoners are equal in value to the sanctity of the Palestinian land, and taking care of and aiding them cannot be neglected under any pressure.”

PA Min. of Health spokesman, after Trump’s recognition of Jerusalem as Israel's capital: US decisions that harm us are “declarations of war against the Palestinian people"
Source: Official Palestinian Authority TV, Dec. 8, 2017
Official PA TV host: “As long as [the US] does not take notice of the language of threats to its interests, it is likely that this [language] is something necessary from all the [Arab] states and brothers – that they do something like this [and] cause the American administration to feel that it will pay a price for these foolish, uncalculated, and ominous decisions, which are not based on law or legitimacy.”
PA Ministry of Health Spokesman Osama Al-Najjar: “In other words, they need to feel, as you noted, that every decision that is made that harms the Palestinian people is a declaration of war against the Palestinian people, against international legitimacy, and against the Arab and Muslim nation. We must make the US feel that all of its interests are in the sights of the Palestinian people and the Arab and  Muslim nation, and that its economy has also entered these sights. We, as the Palestinian people, must boycott everything that is connected to the US on all levels... Currently, the truth is that there is no American patron, and we have illusions that there is an American patron –there is an American enemy that does whatever it pleases against the members of our people, and does all that the previous American administrations could not do. Therefore, currently our Palestinian people must confront the US and Israel.”

Fatah official demonizes Israel as the source of terror in the world

Official PA TV, special broadcast on responses to US President Donald Trump’s decision to recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s capital and transfer the US embassy to Jerusalem, hosting Fatah Revolutionary Council member Adnan Ghaith

Official PA TV host: “Mr. Adnan Ghaith, much was said at the international [UN] Security Council in its urgent meeting, and much of it pointed to how this [American decision] feeds the fanaticism, tension, and extremism in the region. Israel, as a terror state, is the highest form of terror...”
Fatah Revolutionary Council member Adnan Ghaith: “Certainly, what the Israeli occupation is doing against our Palestinian people in general and in occupied Jerusalem is the height of terror. In other words, the one that murders innocents in the streets and roads, the one that closes the places of worships to the worshippers, the one that allows the settlers and the patrons of the settlers to burn children and attack homes and property, the one that does all this- is carrying out ethnic cleansing against the rightful inhabitants, the owners of the land – this is the height of terror. But let me say the truth – Israel, in other words the Israeli occupation government, would not dare to continue with this terror if not for the American cover... Think that today, when the position of the US supports this Israeli occupation, we therefore say to the US: ‘In the eyes of the Palestinian people and the eyes of our people in Jerusalem you have become partners of this occupation and its crimes, its terror, and its violence against our people and against the Palestinian people.’ If there is terror in the world, its foundation is the Israeli occupation government. The one that feeds ISIS and takes care of ISIS is this Israeli occupation, and the world must completely recognize that the one that is involved in this terror is the Israeli occupation, the height of terror in t
