PA daily cartoon depicts Trump as a trash can
Source: Official PA daily, Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, Dec. 13, 2017

Text on cartoon in English and Arabic: “Trump & his Deal”

The cartoon shows US President Donald Trump’s head as a trash can. A Palestinian wearing a keffiyeh (Arab headdress) is seen stepping on Trump’s tongue that acts as a foot pedal to open the lid of the trash can, which is Trump’s hair, in order to throw away a crumpled ball of paper signifying Trump’s “peace deal.” The cartoon comes in response to Trump’s decision to recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s capital and transfer the US embassy to it.
Abbas: Jews\Israelis are skilled “in falsifying history and religion”, the Torah says the Canaanites were in Jerusalem since before Abraham until today, but the city should be "open city for all religions"
Source: Official Palestinian Authority TV, Dec. 13, 2017
Official PA TV, broadcast of PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas' speech at the emergency meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Istanbul, Turkey on Dec. 13, 2017

PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas: “Indeed [we], women and men, believe in our right and Allah’s promise to us that this sanctified city [Jerusalem] – since the Canaanite Jebusites established it 5,000 years ago – was not and will not be anything but the capital of our independent state, and [that] sovereignty in it [belongs to] the State of Palestine. By the way, I don’t like to argue about history or religion because none are more skilled than they (i.e., Israelis/Jews) are in falsifying history and religion. But if we read the Torah, it says that the Canaanites were here before our lord Abraham, and their presence has not stopped since that time (sic, there is no connection between the Canaanites and today's Palestinians) – this is in the Torah – until this very day. But if they want to falsify, they will divert the words from their place... We want it [Jerusalem] as an open city to all the members of the Heavenly religions, that they may practice their worship in it. If we will take East Jerusalem – let the Muslim, the Christian, and the Jew come and practice their faith in complete freedom, there is no obstacle.”

Abbas: Jerusalem is “a Palestinian, Arab, Islamic, and Christian city”
Source: Official Palestinian Authority TV, Dec. 13, 2017
PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas: “A hundred years have passed since this decision [the Balfour Declaration]. Now comes a different promise, which is given by [US President] Donald Trump to the Zionist movement in order to give it Jerusalem as an additional gift, as if he is giving one of the cities of the US as a gift… President Trump’s unilateral steps do not grant any legitimacy to Israel in Jerusalem. It is a Palestinian, Arab, Islamic, and Christian city, the eternal capital of Palestine. It is impossible to have a state of Palestine without Jerusalem being its capital. We won’t agree to that. There will not be peace in Jerusalem or in the world without it…  We have no doubt that these unilateral and misdirected steps will encourage the extremist and non-extremist groups to turn the struggle from a political struggle into a religious struggle. And then the world will bear the responsibility. As long as they want a religious struggle, it should bear the responsibility. This is what we have always warned it about and taken care to refuse. We ask a simple question: Who is the one that is setting the religious struggle in motion in the world? Who is the one who invented the terror organizations in the world? We are all asking and we all know the answer…"

US recognition of Jerusalem as capital of Israel - On Dec. 6, 2017, US President Donald Trump gave a speech formally recognizing Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and stating that he had instructed the State Department to begin preparations to transfer the US embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. Director of the Palestinian Women’s Union in Gaza on US recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital: “Jerusalem is being raped by the Israeli occupation”
Source: Official Palestinian Authority TV, Dec. 12, 2017
Official PA TV program Palestine This Morning, report from studio in Gaza, interview with Director of the Palestinian Women’s Union in Gaza Amal Hamad

Director of the Palestinian Women’s Union in Gaza Amal Hamad: “(Amal Hamad is asked about the influence of Palestinian women on the issue of Jerusalem –Ed.) Women are a main engine. Women are 50% of the force of society… I view Jerusalem as being raped. Jerusalem is being raped by the Israeli occupation. And the word ‘rape’ for us, as women, has great significance. Therefore women are required to struggle against this rape and for the Palestinian people’s right to liberation and getting rid of the Israeli occupation’s rape of Jerusalem. America now is absolutely not a patron of the peace process, it no longer has a true role, and it is not a mediator. It has already become a partner and ally of the occupation state, and it is a party in the conflict. The Palestinian leadership has clear standpoints: It is not meeting with American Vice President [Mike Pence], and this is a responsible and clear position. Secondly, [the leadership] has said that America has removed itself from the peace process…"

PA Ministry of Education Spokesman supports Palestinian students participating in “popular activities” against US Jerusalem recognition, calls to include PA curriculum in Jerusalem schools
Source: Official Palestinian Authority TV, Dec. 12, 2017
PA Ministry of Education Spokesman Sadeq Al-Khadour: “Let me say through [official] PA TV: Regarding the issue of regular attendance at school, the public activities complement [school activity] and do not contradict [it]. The support for Jerusalem is likely to be through confrontations at the checkpoints and the areas of friction, and it is also likely to be through activities of expression by the students through drawings, writing, poems, and active participation. We again say the [PA] Ministry of Education will also support the popular activities, without harming the regular [school] activity, particularly when most of the activities are done after 12:00 p.m.” […]
Official PA TV host: “We must mention the attack that is being waged against the curricula of the schools in Jerusalem, and the occupation’s attempt to divert the truth [and] distort the curricula. [How are you] dealing with these difficulties and transferring these efforts to Jerusalem?”
Sadeq Al-Khadour: “Jerusalem has a special status. At the end of last year [2016], we organized the Freedom Carnival with the participation of 30,000 students in Jerusalem, and thousands were at the Al-Aqsa Mosque plazas, wrote inscriptions, and waved flags… We have announced steps to support the religious ruling of his honor [PA] Mufti [Muhammad Hussein] regarding the Palestinian curriculum in Jerusalem (i.e., ruling that called to reject the Israeli curriculum.).”

PLO official: Transfer of US embassy to Jerusalem is a “declaration of war,” the “popular uprising” will become an intifada
Source: Wattan (independent Palestinian news agency)‎, Dec. 12, 2017
“Secretary-General of the Palestinian Liberation Front and PLO Executive Committee member Dr. Wasel Abu Yusuf emphasized that the Palestinian leadership firmly refuses any meeting with American Vice President [Mike Pence] or any party from the American administration. He also said that the American administration’s decision to transfer the US embassy to Jerusalem is a sort of declaration of war against our Palestinian people, and a prelude to carrying out the plots that strive to eliminate the Palestinian cause through what is called ‘the deal of the century’ or ‘the regional solution.’
Abu Yusuf said in an interview with the media outlets that the popular uprising in response to [US President Donald] Trump’s decisions will continue and become an intifada of return, freedom, and independence...”

Abbas’ advisor calls on all Palestinians to come to the Al-Aqsa Mosque, carry out Ribat there, and “protect its sanctity”
Source: Official PA daily, Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, Dec. 11, 2017
“Supreme Shari’ah Judge of Palestine, [PA] President [Mahmoud Abbas’] advisor on Religious and Islamic Affairs, [and Chairman of the Supreme Council for Shari'ah Justice] Mahmoud Al-Habbash emphasized that the occupation state is playing with fire when it attempts to change the status quo in Jerusalem…
Al-Habbash demanded that the members of the Palestinian people in Jerusalem and in the 1948 territories (i.e., Israel) and everyone who can come to the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, carry out Ribat (i.e., religious conflict/war over land claimed to be Islamic) in it, and protect its sanctity…
Al-Habbash warned the occupation government not to take any crazy steps regarding the holy city and the holy sites in it following the reckless and irresponsible decision of the American administration (i.e., to recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s capital and transfer the US embassy to it).”

Fatah secretary threatens violence: Trump’s recognition of Jerusalem “is declaration of war… we are prepared for the return to the prisons and arenas of Martyrdom-death”
Source: Official Palestinian Authority TV, Dec. 11, 2017
Official PA TV program The Occupied Capital

Secretary of Fatah in Jerusalem Shadi Mattour: “We in the Fatah Movement and in all the echelons of the Movement and the leadership have said that this [American recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital] is a declaration of war. It’s the collapse of the peace process. This will blow up the street. The Fatah Movement has begun a chain of meetings with all of the leaders on the ground in the regional branches, the [Fatah] Shabiba [Movement], and all of its offices. The issue of Jerusalem is a central issue for all of the Muslims, all of the Arabs, and all of the free people in the world. Whoever wants to play with fire in Jerusalem will bear the consequences of this [American] decision and will deal with the transfer of the American embassy to the holy city [of Jerusalem]. We believed in politics and believed in peace, but we see now that peace is killing our dream of establishing our state, and that the world recognizes Jerusalem as the capital of the occupation state. [Therefore,] we will deny politics and peace and we will return. We are prepared for the return. The leadership has said that we are prepared for the return to the prisons and arenas of Martyrdom-death (Shahada). This is an honor for us.”
