Fatah official: US President Trump is an “ignoramus… thinks he can give Jerusalem to Israel as he gave his daughter to Kushner”

Official PA radio station The Voice of Palestine, A New Day, special broadcast on US President Donald Trump’s decision to recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s capital

Fatah Central Committee member and Fatah Commissioner for Arab and China Relations Abbas Zaki: “We are standing before this ignoramus (i.e., US President Donald Trump), who has attempted to make himself like [former British Foreign Secretary Arthur] Balfour of 2017 by giving a national home to the Jews in Palestine. He came to place himself over something that does not belong to him, as if it were a business deal. Like he gave his daughter Ivanka to [Jared] Kushner, he thinks he can give Jerusalem to Israel. In other words, a business deal…
I think that now he is not only our enemy, but also his own enemy, the enemy of the international community, the enemy of Europe, of Turkey, and of the Arabs who [just] yesterday were his pawns… [Jerusalem] is [the place of] lord Muhammad’s Night Journey, [and the place of] Jesus’ resurrection. It is the earth’s gate to Heaven. This fool will not be able to change anything. Therefore, now the options are open and no one will blame us… Everyone needs to put a picture of Trump with a donkey on his head – let them burn him and hang him. We need to see [a picture of] Trump on every street and step on it… Now, I declare today that Trump has joined terror. Terror is the highest form of occupation known to man (sic., generally “occupation” and “terror” are reversed in this sentence). This terrorist occupation – currently the American administration is terrorist, it has joined the Likud (i.e., Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s party). Therefore, the extremists in Israel and Trump are two sides of the same coin.”

PA daily op-ed: “Trump will be Balfour's successor; he has taken [Britain's] place as a colonialist country in order to complete the Zionist enterprise that began with the Balfour [Declaration] 100 years ago”
Source: Official PA daily, Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, Dec. 7, 2017
Excerpt of an op-ed by Muwaffaq Matar, Fatah Revolutionary Council member and regular columnist for the official PA daily

“The most important thing at this historical moment is that the Palestinian and Arab public, and also the friends of Palestine and free people of the world, know that from our perspective, [that of] the Palestinians, [US President] Donald Trump will be [former British Foreign Secretary Arthur] Balfour's successor; he has taken down Great Britain and taken its place as a colonialist country in order to complete the Zionist enterprise that began with the British Balfour Promise (i.e., Declaration) 100 years ago…
We must always remember that the biggest losers will be the US and its pawn, the occupation state Israel, because through the crime of blowing up the bridges to peace… they are declaring war on dialogue and negotiations as a means to resolve disputes and establish peace between warring states.”

Fatah military wings in Gaza: US recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital is a “crime,” call for “armed confrontation”
Source: Donia Al-Watan (independent Palestinian news agency), Dec. 7, 2017
Headline: “Fatah’s military wings: We call on our people to [wage] an armed confrontation against the occupation”
“The Fatah Movement’s military wings in the Gaza Strip published a statement in which they condemned what they described as [US President Donald] Trump’s crime in declaring Jerusalem the capital of Israel and transferring the American embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.
Fatah’s military wings said that the American decision is worthless and is a kind of mercy killing of the peace process and agreement, and that the Palestinian people will adhere to what deceased [PA] President Yasser Arafat said: ‘There is not one among us who will concede an inch of Jerusalem, and Jerusalem will remain the eternal capital of Palestine.’ Fatah’s wings explained that Trump’s decision is a declaration of war not only against the Palestinians, but also against the Arabs and Muslims throughout the world, and they called on the Fatah members and the masses of the Palestinian people to [wage] an armed confrontation against the occupation in [all] places where it is located.”

PA PM: Trump’s decision on Jerusalem is “empty talk,” the PA will refuse US aid that is conditional
Source: Official PA daily, Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, Dec. 7, 2017
PA Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah: "[US President Donald] Trump has now taken an unprecedented step… And what did this Trump do? It is all empty talk. Just a piece of paper. It does not add or subtract. Others before him have made decisions, and what happened? The uprising of July [2017] – people without weapons – civilians - forced the [removal of the] metal detectors (refers to security measures at the Temple Mount following a terror attack there; see note below –Ed.)...
And he, who will make a million decisions, yesterday [Dec. 6, 2017] boasted, signed, and showed people. We say to him that this decision is not worth the ink in his signature. And may he hear us, and stop the aid [to the PA], which he has already stopped anyway. Two years ago he stopped the aid (sic., Trump was not president two years ago), and we say that we do not want aid and do not want anything from him. This aid is conditional, we do not want it. And we will be satisfied with little."

Palestinian reactions to US recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital: “A knife in the back,” “It will bring disgrace and destruction on the region,” “A clash is anticipated”
Source: Official PA daily, Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, Dec. 7, 2017
“Fatah Movement Central Committee Secretary Jibril Rajoub said… that the transfer of the [US] embassy proves to us clearly that [US President Donald] Trump’s administration is not objective in its relations with the two sides in the struggle, is not balanced, and does not view Jerusalem as occupied territory…
Palestinian [PLO] Ambassador to Washington [and PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas’ Advisor on Strategic Affairs] Husam Zomlot said that American President Donald Trump’s decision regarding Jerusalem is a knife in the back and a bullet that kills the two-state solution…
The Al-Azhar Institutes in Palestine said: ‘The decision to transfer the American embassy to Jerusalem cannot pass in quiet. It will bring disgrace and destruction on the region, and it is the beginning of the end of the injustice that the US, Israel, and their helpers are causing.’ They emphasized that ‘A clash with the oppressor and oppressors is anticipated for Jerusalem – with all of its men, women, Murabitin (i.e., those carrying out Ribat, religious conflict/war to protect land claimed to be Islamic), and lovers.’”

The PLO said that Trump’s decision on Jerusalem ‘destroys’ any chance for the two-state solution. PLO Executive Committee Secretary, [Fatah Central Committee member, and PLO Chief Negotiator] Saeb Erekat said: ‘Unfortunately, President Trump has destroyed any chance for the two-state solution.’ He explained: ‘I think that tonight President Trump distanced the US from playing any role in any peace process.’”

Abbas on Trump’s recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital: “These measures… serve extremist groups attempting to turn the conflict in our region into a religious war”
Source: WAFA, official PA news agency, Dec. 6, 2017
“RAMALLAH, December 6, 2017 (WAFA) - President Mahmoud Abbas said on Wednesday that with US President Donald Trump declaring that Jerusalem is the capital of Israel, he has chosen to disregard all international resolutions and bilateral agreements, preferring to ignore and contradict the international consensus expressed by many countries and leaders of the world, its spiritual leaders and regional organizations over the past few days on the issue of Jerusalem.
He said in a speech in response to Trump's decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, "These measures are a reward to Israel’s violations of international resolutions and an encouragement for Israel to continue its policy of occupation, settlements, apartheid and ethnic cleansing.”
Abbas added, “These measures also serve extremist groups attempting to turn the conflict in our region into a religious war that is dragging the region, which is living critical situations in the midst of international conflicts and endless wars. This is what we have always warned of and we have rejected and fought.”
He said, “These measures, which are denounced and rejected, are a deliberate undermining of all efforts to achieve peace, and is a declaration of the withdrawal of the United States from playing the role which it has played over the past decades as a peace broker.”
