Abbas’ spokesman: Balfour Declaration” was “crime of the century,” a “historic mistake” that should be reevaluated and corrected

Headline: “Abu Rudeina: The Balfour Promise is the crime of the century”
“Official [PA] Presidential Spokesman Nabil Abu Rudeina described the Balfour Promise (i.e., Declaration) as the crime of the century, and emphasized that it will not pass in silence.
Abu Rudeina added in a press release on the [99th] anniversary of the ominous Balfour Promise [Nov. 2, 2016] that this crime led to tragedies, uprooting, and refugees , whose price has been paid by the Palestinian people and the Arab nation, and [led] to consequences that still have an effect on everyone. Abu Rudeina called on those who issued this ominous promise to reevaluate it and correct the historic mistake, which will remain a mark of shame on the forehead of humanity.”

The Balfour Declaration of Nov. 2, 1917 was a letter from British Foreign Secretary Arthur Balfour to Baron Rothschild stating that “His Majesty's government views with favour the establishment in Palestine of a national home for the Jewish people” and is seen as the basis for later international commitments to establish the State of Israel.
