Fatah official: Fatah “has recorded the greatest acts of heroism and sacrifices and given thousands of Martyrs and prisoners”

Headline: “Fatah honored released prisoner Al-Qasrawi”
“The Qalqilya branch of the Fatah Movement and the [PLO] Commission of Prisoners and Released Prisoners’ Affairs yesterday [Jan. 10, 2019] honored released prisoner Riyad Saleh Al-Qasrawi ‘Abu Saleh’ (i.e., terrorist involved in the attempt to smuggle weapons aboard the ship Karine A; see note below), who served 17 years in the occupation’s prisons. Qalqilya District Deputy Governor Husam Abu Hamda emphasized that the prisoners’ cause is the Palestinians' main cause, and despite the American pressures, the internal plots, and the conspiring against the legitimate Palestinian leadership, the prisoners’ cause will remain our main cause in liberation from the occupation. Fatah Movement Secretary in Qalqilya Mahmoud Walweel said that the movement has recorded the greatest acts of heroism and sacrifices and given thousands of Martyrs (Shahids) and prisoners, and will keep its promise to continue to defy and impair the Israeli occupation’s aspirations to take control of the Palestinian land.”

Karine A - In January 2002, Israeli army forces seized Karine A, a ship that attempted to smuggle 50 tons of weapons including Katyusha rockets, anti-tank missiles and explosives, into the Palestinian Authority. The commander of the ship was Omar Al-Akkawi, a Fatah member and PA official. Senior PA official Fuad Al-Shubaki was behind the smuggle attempt.
