PA depicts a world without Israel
Future: A world without Israel
PA depicts a world without Israel
The Palestinian Authority makes no attempt to educate its people towards peace and coexistence with Israel. On the contrary, from every possible platform it repeatedly rejects Israel's right to exist, presents the conflict as a religious battle for Islam, depicts the establishment of Israel as an act of imperialism, and perpetuates a picture of the Middle East, both verbally and visually, in which Israel does not exist at all. Israel's destruction is said to be both inevitable and a Palestinian obligation.

The following description of Israel's founding in a Palestinian schoolbook represents the dominant dogma about Israel:

"Palestine’s war ended with a catastrophe that is unprecedented in history, when the Zionist gangs stole Palestine … and established the so-called State of Israel."
[Arabic Language, Analysis, Literature and Criticism, grade 12, p. 104]

This official PA map of "Palestine” was broadcast on PA TV in September 2011. The map includes both the PA areas and all of Israel (excluding the Golan Heights) wrapped in the Palestinian flag - a symbol of Palestinian sovereignty over the whole area - and has a key through it, symbolizing ownership. Similar maps presenting all of Israel as "Palestine" appear in Palestinian schoolbooks and are shown regularly on PA TV.
Future: A world without Israel
The PA promises its people that in the future, the State of Israel will be completely erased and replaced by a State of Palestine. A Fatah member of Palestinian parliament, Najat Abu Bakr, told PA TV that the PA supports and adopts the “stages plan.” To the world, the PA claims that the Palestinians seek the West Bank and Gaza Strip, when in fact the goal is all of Israel: “It doesn’t mean that we don’t want the 1948 borders, but in our current political program we say we want a state on the 1967 borders.” [PA TV (Fatah), Aug. 25, 2008]

Fatah Central Committee member Abbas Zaki reiterated this position on Al-Jazeera TV:
“It is impossible to realize the inspiring idea or the great goal in one stroke… Israel will come to an end… If I say that I want to remove it from existence, this will be great, great, [but] it is hard. This is not a [stated] policy. You can't say it to the world. You can say it to yourself.” [Al-Jazeera TV, Sept. 23, 2011]

The following words from a song on official PA TV, which started to appear in 2012, expresses longing for the day that Jaffa, Acre, Haifa and the Galilee, all in Israel, will be part of “my country” (“Palestine”) where all cities would be accessible "with no borders":
"I wish I could enter my country with no borders...
I will go about in Bethlehem and in Al-Aqsa [Mosque], which is held captive...
I do not forget Jenin or Nablus, and the Galilee
I do not forget you, Jaffa…
To Jerusalem, to Ramle, to Acre, to Haifa, oh Lord...
I wish I could enter my country with no borders." [PA TV (Fatah), Feb. 9, 2012]

The PA’s using culture to long for the destruction of Israel is not new. Many examples can be seen in this section below, including a music video, which aired on official PA TV from 2007 – 2009 and promises the liberation of “Palestine,” listing numerous Israeli cities as “Palestine”:
"We will liberate the Land of the religions … Palestine is Arab in history and identity… From Jerusalem and Acre, from Haifa and Jericho and Gaza and Ramallah, from Bethlehem and Jaffa, Be'er Sheba and Ramle, and from Nablus to the Galilee, from Tiberias to Hebron.”

Finally, the newest PA schoolbooks teach that "Palestine will be liberated by its men, its women, its young ones and its elderly." [Arabic Language and the Science of Language, grade 12, p. 44]

Girl in poem on PA TV: "A Zionist stole the land of Palestine,” TV host: “Soon, Allah willing, we will return to our land”
Source: Official Palestinian Authority TV, Nov. 1, 2018

Palestinian girl Nour:
"A Zionist stole the land of Palestine,
War, destruction, murder, and wailing,
We were uprooted and the world called us refugees (i.e., in 1948),
We have sacrificed millions of Martyrs for the sake of your return, Palestine…
We said a year, two years – they have become 70 (i.e., since Israel's creation in 1948),
Rebel, rebel, O people of the giants,
And shoot with your fire, like volcanoes,
So Jerusalem and the Al-Aqsa [Mosque] will return to us, O Muslims…
And Allah willing we will be victorious, and everyone will be witnesses,
We are returning. By Allah, we are returning,
Even if the entire world gives up on you, your children won’t, O Palestine…”
Official PA TV host of The Best Home: “Bravo! […] I want to tell you, as my friend Nour has said, we are returning. Soon, Allah willing, we will return to our land… Every one of us can resist the occupation wherever he is, and in our different ways so we can bring back Palestine. Children, are we capable of bringing it back? Are you sure? Good.”

Abbas advisor: “The Palestinian people’s struggle will not end and will not fade until the expulsion of the last of the criminal settlers from our land”
Source: Official PA daily, Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, Oct. 14, 2018
“Supreme Shari’ah Judge of Palestine and [PA] President [Mahmoud Abbas’] advisor on Religious and Islamic Affairs Mahmoud Al-Habbash called to put the occupation’s leaders, the occupation government, and the settlers on trial for terror and war crimes. This is following the terror crime that the terrorist settler gangs committed against the Al-Rabi family, which caused the death of Martyr (Shahida) Aisha Al-Rabi (48) (sic., at the time of writing it was unclear whether Jews or Arabs threw rocks at Al-Rabi’s car and killed her; see note below)… at the Za’atara occupation checkpoint, before the eyes and ears of the occupation’s soldiers who were at the site, and under their protection (sic., Israeli soldiers did not protect the rock-throwers or enable their attack). Supreme Shari’ah Judge [Al-Habbash] emphasized that this despicable crime is a war crime… He emphasized that the Palestinian people’s struggle will not end and will not fade until the expulsion of the last of the criminal settlers from our land, and until our people achieves freedom through the end of the oppressive occupation – something that they view as far-off, while we view it as near.”

Qalqilya District Governor to UNRWA delegation: “The Palestinian people is prepared to sacrifice that which is most precious to it in order to protect the sanctity of the right of return”
Source: Official PA daily, Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, Oct. 12, 2018
“Qalqilya District Governor Rafe' Rawajbeh met with a delegation from UNRWA (UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East) in his office yesterday [Oct. 11, 2018]… Rawajbeh gave a detailed explanation regarding the situation of the refugees and their suffering. He noted that 70% of the citizens in Qalqilya are refugees, which necessitates aid to the refugees, and expressed opposition to the reduction of the services given by UNRWA. The district governor noted that the refugees have many concerns, and what increases these concerns is the American bias in favor of the occupation by exerting pressure on UNRWA and ending its existence (apparently refers to the US cutting aid to UNRWA; see note below –Ed.). He added that [Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin] Netanyahu and [US President Donald] Trump will leave in the end, but any harm to the issue of the refugees will not be forgotten, and the Palestinian people is prepared to sacrifice that which is most precious to it in order to protect the sanctity of the right of return.”

PA TV host of kids’ program: Refugees have not “relinquished [their land] or their right to return to it”
Source: Official Palestinian Authority TV, Sept. 22, 2018
Official PA TV program The Capital

Official PA TV child host: “Now my friends, we will move to a new segment in today’s episode, and that is the segment: ‘The uprooted village.’ You know that there were many people who left their homes under coercion and left their lands because of the occupation. But it is clear that they have not forgotten their land and have not relinquished it or their right to return to it, particularly as these villages [are located around] the capital [Jerusalem].”
“The great dream of Palestinians is to liberate Palestine from the [Jordan] River to the [Mediterranean] Sea,” says head of Palestinian university
Source: Official PA radio station The Voice of Palestine, Sept. 13, 2018

Rector of Al-Istiqlal University in Jericho (The Palestinian Academy for Security Sciences) Saleh Abu Osba:
"I always say that life without dreams is empty. As I see it, we the Palestinians have a great dream before us: To liberate Palestine from the [Jordan] River to the [Mediterranean] Sea. This dream will remain before us and requires of us willpower. Our people’s willpower is strong. The proof of this is the thousands of prisoners and the thousands of Martyrs who have fallen to realize the dream of liberating Palestine."

PA daily article describes Palestinian refugees in Lebanon dreams of returning to a country they have never seen or visited
Source: Official PA daily, Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, Aug. 31, 2018
Headline: “The Palestinians of Lebanon: Our honor is in our return”
“Every Palestinian that lives in Lebanon asserts when he talks about the right to return to his country that this is a right that is not subject to the decision of the occupation state or of its supporters, rather it is subject to basic diplomatic, humanitarian, and national principles that do not include conceding this sacred right, as they read and learned from the wills of their fathers and the Martyrs (Shahids). Many of those from the generation of the Nakba (i.e., “the catastrophe,” Palestinian term for the establishment of the State of Israel) have already died and did not succeed in realizing their dreams and hopes to return to the cities and villages of Palestine; but they sowed the hope, will power and courage in the heads and hearts of their grandchildren and children so that they would continue the path of struggle until they see Palestine with their own eyes, live within it, and are rid of the title ‘refugee.’"

Op-ed in PA daily: “Everyone who was born to a Palestinian father is a refugee”
Source: Official PA daily, Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, Aug. 1, 2018
Excerpt of an op-ed by Omar Hilmi Al-Ghoul, regular columnist for the official PA daily

"I wish to emphasize as a Palestinian and as a refugee – there is no Palestinian, Arab, or foreigner who will agree to be called a 'refugee,' and this includes a 'political refugee.' This is because every person wishes to live in the place where his forefathers were born, and where he grew up and spent his childhood in its spaces… And whoever thinks that anybody wishes to bear the name 'refugee' – unless the person himself wished to emigrate and move away from his homeland for the purpose of studies, livelihood, or even love – is naive… Everyone who was born to a Palestinian father is a refugee; he is necessarily a refugee, whether [US Representative] Doug Lamborn or [US President] Donald Trump wishes it or not."

Abbas’ advisor invents Palestinian history: Palestinians have been on this land for 6,000 years, we were here “before Judaism, Christianity and Islam... Peace will begin with the removal of Israel from the occupied Palestinian land”
Source: Official Palestinian Authority TV, July 12, 2018
Official PA TV News, broadcast of a Fatah Revolutionary Council meeting held in Khan Al-Ahmar, a site where Bedouins have constructed illegal structures on state land

Supreme Shari’ah Judge, PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas’ advisor on Religious and Islamic Affairs, and Chairman of the Supreme Council for Shari'ah Justice Mahmoud Al-Habbash: “Today, here, we remember 6,000 years of Palestinianness of this land. Six thousand years since the Arab Canaanites built the city of Jerusalem (sic., the Canaanites were not Arabs), even before our forefather Abraham reached this land. We were here not only before the settlements, we were here before Israel, and we were even here before the Jewish religion, before Judaism, before Christianity, and before Islam. The Palestinians were here and will remain here, and the foreigners will leave… The… call is to the Israeli people – do you want peace? Peace will begin with you leaving here. Peace will begin with the removal of Israel from the occupied Palestinian land and with the transfer of all of the land of occupied Palestine, and primarily Jerusalem with all of its details and contours - the Al-Aqsa Mosque, the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, and the Al-Buraq Wall (i.e., the Western Wall of the Temple Mount) - which will be transferred to the independent Palestinian state, as it is responsible for protecting the holy sites.”

Fatah Secretary in Tubas Mahmoud Sawafta: "For many long years, all of the projects that the enemies have attempted to impose on us and that the occupation has attempted to impose on us - and the largest of these projects was the Civil Administration – all of these projects have failed... Indeed this people is great and this blessed land that has a great people in it - all of the occupations that have attempted to impose their hegemony on this land have been defeated in this region as a result of this people’s determination. The Mongols, Tatars, Timur Lang, Crusaders, and English were defeated here... And we say today too that the deal of the century (referring to US President Trump's as yet unpublished peace plan for the Middle East –Ed.), which the American delegation has brought to the region in an attempt to impose it, will not pass."

Iranian Al-Alam TV program Guest and Dialogue, on International Al-Quds Day and US President Donald Trump's Middle East peace plan, hosting Fatah Central Committee member and Fatah Commissioner for Arab and China Relations Abbas Zaki

Fatah Central Committee member and Fatah Commissioner for Arab and China Relations Abbas Zaki: "All of this American recklessness and arrogance has crossed every line. From here I say: This proves that America is devoid of culture, devoid of history, and they think that if they massacred the American Indians, they will also massacre the Palestinian people. No! [...] Now, we have said to Israel: Take a state in the [1967] borders, and we are in these borders. But soon, this will no longer be. They have refused, we refuse- Allah willing our state will be from the [Jordan] River to the [Mediterranean] Sea, we will finish this matter, and we are willing to accept them in a democratic and secular state that contains Jews, Christians, and Muslims in an equal manner. And we do not want Israel and this Zionism. Let them go, we will finish it. We and the Jews are friends, in other words... But this propaganda of theirs that says: 'We want a state for Jews in Palestine’ – this, I think, from a historical perspective, they want to gather so they will be annihilated. Nobody accepts them.”
Host: "Even Europe did not accept them."

Article in PA daily: Palestinian “refugees” born and living in the West Bank miss homes they have never seen or been to
Source: Official PA daily, Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, May 9, 2018
Note: The following text is the English version of the article that appeared in the UK newspaper The Daily Mail

Headline: "70 years after exodus, Palestinians dream of return"
"Thaer Sharkawi, 31, has never visited the place he calls home.
The Palestinian was born and raised in the Amari refugee camp in the occupied West Bank, but for him his house is 50 kilometres (30 miles) away in the town of Kafr Ana inside what is now Israel.
Kafr Ana hasn't actually existed for decades -- demolished in the weeks after Sharkawi's grandfather fled in 1948 -- yet he knows there was a boys' and girls' school and can vividly picture the orange groves his great-grandfather tended.
‘I haven't been there but I have heard about it,’ he told AFP. ‘I studied about it and read about it on the internet.’"

One is that our people has not forgotten and will not forget its land and its rights, and that Israel will not be able to live in peace and security as long as we do not achieve our legal rights. The second message is directed to the international community by emphasizing that it is impossible to shelve our people’s cause, and that our people will not accept any deal other than the deal of return to its land and its homes from which it was expelled.”
