PA and Fatah officials threaten consquences of moving the US embassy to Jerusalem

In Ramallah, a mass protest vigil was held in the Al-Manara Square that the Fatah Movement in the city called for, with the participation of leaders and representatives of the national forces
District Governor of Ramallah and El-Bireh Laila Ghannam said: ‘The transfer of the embassy to Jerusalem means an end to all that was said about the two-state solution and the peace process,’ and added that everything taking place in Jerusalem relates to the Palestinians and all Muslims, Christians, Arabs, and free men in the world who believe in the right of our people to a state…

Fatah Central Committee member Jamal Muhaisen said that the transfer of the embassy to occupied Jerusalem is an uncalculated act on the part of President-elect Trump, whose implementation will turn the US from a state biased toward the occupation into a partner in the aggression against the Palestinian people, and into a state that is outside the law and international legitimacy.
Muhaisen added: ‘Transferring the embassy will destroy the possibilities of peace, and the response to it if it is implemented will be confrontation with the occupation on the ground by all possible means ‎(term refers to events that include violence against Israeli civilians such as rock-‎throwing, stabbings, and shootings -Ed.)‎, alongside the political and legal actions of the leadership and the cancellation of the recognition of the State of Israel.’ …

In Hebron, Fatah branches in the Hebron and Bethlehem districts organized a protest vigil yesterday as a sign of opposition to the transfer of the American embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. District Governor of Hebron Kamel Hamid, Fatah Central Committee member Abbas Zaki, PA Parliament (Legislative Council) member Sahr Al-Qawasmi, and several Fatah Revolutionary Council members participated in the event…
The district governor of Hebron noted that Jerusalem is ‘a symbol of the intifadas, the conflicts, and the wars, but also a symbol of stability, peace, and love. Whoever dares [to act] against it will burn in its fire, and it is the red line of everyone respectable in the world.’ He emphasized that this is the message of the Palestinian people, the leadership, the Martyrs (Shahids), the wounded, the prisoners, and the political factions. He added that the leadership has turned to all the presidents in the world and the American administration regarding the danger constituted by this position, which threatens the security, stability, and the two-state solution.

Fatah Central Committee member Abbas Zaki mentioned the danger of the decision to transfer the American embassy to Jerusalem, and warned against the danger of the position and its consequences. He noted that the Fatah Central Committee has decided to oppose this decision by all means.’

Fatah Revolutionary Council member Khawla Al-Azraq said: ‘This [protest] vigil was organized at the initiative of Fatah to respond to the unbalanced American decision that exposes the truth of the position of the US that is biased in favor of Israel, which denies the rights of the Palestinian people to security and the establishment of its independent state.’ She explained that the event is the beginning of a plan of action for a struggle that will be implemented on the ground ‘and will reflect the position of Fatah regarding all the actions of the occupation and the American administration.’ …

Hundreds of citizens demonstrated yesterday in the center of Nablus in protest over President Trump’s intention to transfer his country’s embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem…
District Governor of Nablus Akram Rajoub said: ‘This demonstration is a Palestinian national message to the world that expresses in a clear voice that the change in the American policy, and in this sarcastic manner, constitutes a message to the Palestinian people and all free men in the world that there is no Palestinian state, no national rights for the Palestinian people, and no hope for the people of Palestine to establish its state whose capital is Jerusalem.’ …

Fatah Central Committee member Mahmoud Al-Aloul emphasized in a speech on behalf of the national activity factions that the occupation is committing many crimes against the Palestinian people on a daily basis, which are being joined by President Trump’s intention to transfer the American embassy to Jerusalem, which means the destruction of every agreement and any hope for the establishment of the Palestinian state, and the perpetuation of the occupation. Al-Aloul added that the Palestinian people is prepared for any sacrifice for Jerusalem and the land of Palestine, and cannot agree to this step.”
