Fatah official: We need to act against the “colonies” (i.e., Israeli settlements) through revolt and sabotage

Official PA TV program Speak Openly, hosting Fatah Central Committee member and Fatah Commissioner of Information, Culture, and Indoctrination and Chairman of the PA-supported Yasser Arafat Foundation Nasser Al-Qidwa, on the American administration’s position on the two-state solution.

Fatah Central Committee member and Fatah Commissioner of Information, Culture, and Indoctrination Nasser Al-Qidwa: “We as Palestinians need to fulfill our obligations. We need to wage a true, firm, and clear battle against the colonies (i.e., settlements). It is very difficult for me to understand how it can be that a Palestinian citizen works in a colony. How can that be? It could be that his answer would be ‘It’s a livelihood for my children.’ I respect that. But that tangibly threatens the future of these children. This threatens their existence…
We need to express our true struggle and our resistance to the colonies through demonstrations, protests, gatherings, revolt, and even, I tell you, acts of sabotage as part of the confrontation against the colonialists and the colonies. It cannot be that we the Palestinian people will run from them, while the opposite needs to be the case. The young people need to fill a primary role in defending their villages and defending their refugee camps. Against this entire matter. All of this must happen. Because that is what will make the world say ‘Okay, you fulfilled your obligations, and now we need to fulfill our obligations’ - whether there is a deal or isn’t a deal, whether there is a peace process or isn’t a peace process. There is no choice but to enter this battle against the settlement colonialism, and to break this Israeli enterprise, because that is what will lead us to national independence. There can be no national independence as long as the Israelis think that they can continue their colonialist enterprise.”
