Following US declaration on Jerusalem, Islamic Jihad terror org calls on Palestinians to “escalate the Jerusalem intifada... and strengthen and escalate the resistance”
“The Islamic Jihad Movement yesterday [Dec. 7, 2017] demanded to act to end the [Fatah-Hamas] rift and unify the Palestinian ranks around the fundamental national principles, and to act to rebuild the PLO and [Palestinian] National Council (i.e., the legislative body of the PLO).
[Islamic] Jihad Movement Spokesman Daoud Shihab said at a press conference yesterday in Gaza City that it is necessary to come out decisively, in force, and by all means (i.e., term used by Palestinians, which also refers to the use of violence and terror) against the plot to eliminate the Palestinian issue through what is called the American ‘deal of the century,’ which [US President Donald] Trump inaugurated in his declaration of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.
He added: ‘We demand that the PLO, in light of this dangerous development, declare the failure of the attempts for a [peace] agreement, annul the Oslo Accords, and refuse to obey the obligations deriving from it, and particularly through providing security cooperation with the enemy in all its forms.’
He called on the Palestinian masses to escalate the Jerusalem intifada, integrate all of the national and Islamic activity factions into it, and strengthen and escalate the resistance throughout our occupied land, particularly in the West Bank.”

US recognition of Jerusalem as capital of Israel - On Dec. 6, 2017, US President Donald Trump gave a speech formally recognizing Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and stating that he had instructed the State Department to begin preparations to transfer the US embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. Trump concluded by stating that the US is still fully committed to the peace process in the Middle East. Following his speech, Trump signed the waiver to delay the transfer of the embassy, and apparently will continue to do so until preparations for the transfer have been completed.
The terms "all means”, "all means of resistance," “all forms,” are used by PA leaders to include using all types of violence, including deadly terror against Israeli civilians such as stabbings and shootings, as well as throwing rocks and Molotov Cocktails.
