President of Al-Quds University on Trump’s recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital: The US "must understand that the Palestinian people will resist this decision… whatever the cost of its resistance"
Source: Official PA daily, Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, Jan. 30, 2018
Headline: "The president of Al-Quds Open University speaks at a conference on the latest developments in the Palestinian arena"

"President of Al-Quds Open University and [Fatah] Revolutionary Council member Prof. Younes Amr spoke at a conference organized yesterday [Jan. 29, 2018] by the [Fatah] Shabiba Student Movement and the student council at the Yatta branch of the university on the latest developments in the Palestinian arena…
He said that [US President Donald] Trump's promise (i.e., recognition of Jerusalem as Israel's capital and promise to transfer the US embassy to it; see note below) is more dangerous to the Palestinian people than the Balfour Promise (i.e., Declaration), by virtue of which Britain gave Palestine to the Jews, and therefore Trump and his racist administration – which is biased in favor of the occupation – must understand that the Palestinian people will resist this decision with all of its strength and will not let it pass, whatever the cost of its resistance to the decision may be. At the moment we are at the stage of popular resistance to the decision, and it is possible that it will move on to a different stage.
He explained that the Canaanite Palestinian people has been under many occupations, all of which have passed, and that [PA] President Mahmoud Abbas spoke correctly when he said: 'We are remaining here and will not leave; the occupation is the one that will leave. Trump's declaration of Jerusalem as the capital of the occupation is meaningless, and our people and its leadership will continue to defy and stand firm. The Jews have no religious connection to [Jerusalem], and their connection to it is a connection of military occupation (sic., the last sentence in this quote was said by Younes Amr, not Mahmoud Abbas).'

“Fatah Movement Commissioner of Mobilization and Organization [in the West Bank, Fatah] Central Committee member, [and PLO Central Council member] Jamal Muhaisen said that the activities of rage against US President Donald Trump’s decision on Jerusalem [declaring it Israel’s capital], and against the unwanted visit of his Vice President Mike Pence will continue in all of the districts…
Muhaisen emphasized that ‘the various national activities and their continuation are part of the Palestinian struggle to end the occupation, because in his latest declaration Trump put an end to America’s role as any sort of a mediator in the political process.’”

US recognition of Jerusalem as capital of Israel - On Dec. 6, 2017, US President Donald Trump formally recognized Jerusalem as Israel’s capital and instructed the State Department to begin preparations to transfer the US embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. Trump added that the final borders of Jerusalem will be determined during negotiations.
PLO and Fatah official in Lebanon: “we are moving in the direction of… a gradual intifada while using all of the means of struggle”
Source: Falestinona, website of Fatah's Information and Culture Commission in Lebanon, Jan. 23, 2018
Headline: “Abu Al-Ardat: Despite all of the attempts to harm it, Fatah continues and is still capable of dealing with all of the difficulties and responsibilities”

“[Q:] ‘In your opinion how is it possible to deal with [US President Donald] Trump’s decision [declaring Jerusalem Israel’s capital] on the diplomatic, political, and popular level? And what is your evaluation of the Arab, Islamic, and international positions regarding this decision?’
[Fathi Abu Al-Ardat:] ‘…Currently we are moving in the direction of a combined effort of political and diplomatic activity together with activity on the ground, which is expressed in a gradual intifada while using all of the means of struggle against the occupation in order to make the occupation pay a price. This is particularly so because the UN guarantees the right of the peoples subjected to occupation to resistance in all of its forms, including that which is armed (refers to UN Resolution 3236; see note below –Ed.). At the same time, we must let our people in the Interior (i.e., Israel and the PA areas) consider what the appropriate form of confrontation is, as it is impossible to apply any specific attempt to another place and time, and the decision on this matter is in the hands of the Palestinian leadership and factions.’”

PA leaders and officials have legitimized Palestinian violence by quoting UN resolution 3236 which "recognizes the right of the Palestinian people to regain its rights by all means." The PA interprets "all means" as including violence against civilians, but has chosen to ignore the continuation of the resolution which states that the use of "all means" should be "in accordance with the purposes and principles of the Charter of the United Nations..." The UN Charter prohibits targeting civilians, even in war.
Speech by Egyptian Imam broadcast on official PA TV: US administration’s recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital “will feed the violent extremism and cause its spread throughout the world”
Source: Official Palestinian Authority TV, Jan. 22, 2018
Official PA TV program Palestine This Morning, a video is shown of a speech by Imam of the Egyptian Al-Azhar Institute Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb at a conference for Jerusalem held in Cairo

Imam of the Egyptian Al-Azhar Institute Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb: “We completely reject the American administration’s recent decisions, which nothing more than [a piece of] paper for the Arab and Islamic world and the free people of the world. Therefore, they are completely rejected… The conference [participants] and all of the Arabs, Muslims, and free people of the world in the east and west are behind them, warning that if those who published this decision (i.e., to recognize Jerusalem as Israel's capital) do not hurry to take back their decision immediately, it will feed the violent extremism and cause its spread throughout the world from the east to the west.”

Unrepentant released prisoner: “The rifle was and remains solely [for use] against the occupation”
Source: Official PA daily, Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, Jan. 21, 2018
Official PA TV show Giants of Endurance, on the need for Palestinian unification against Israel under the leadership of PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas, hosting former Palestinian prisoner Muhammad Abu Rizq

Official PA TV host: "Tell us about your reception in which they did not shoot [in the air in joy]. There was a decision of the family itself that 'We do not want shooting in the air there.' Tell us about the matter while we are in this [Balata refugee] camp."

Former Palestinian prisoner Muhammad Abu Rizq: "There was a difficult decision for me and my dear family and close friends. There was communication with some of the brothers, members of the [Fatah] Central Committee, and members of the [Fatah] Revolutionary Council. And we also had a true desire that the reception would be official. A reception where the governor would be present together with commanders of the security forces, and any brother that could be present – welcome. We worked as much as possible to make a genuine change of high quality there and so that there would be a genuine reception that inspires pride among the people…
We were and still are proud of this phenomenon [of receptions without shooting]. We are struggling so that this will be repeated with many prisoners, and also in joyous events and all of the celebratory events, as the rifle was and remains solely [for use] against the occupation."

Hamas congratulates family who executed their son after finding out he cooperated with Israel, saying what they did “constitutes a wonderful example of the victory of the religion and homeland”

Headline: "Hamas blessed what the Barhoum family did regarding its collaborator son"

“The Hamas Movement in Rafah blessed the Barhoum family's revenge against the collaborator who helped the occupation reach three [Izz A-Din] Al-Qassam [Brigades] (i.e., Hamas’ military wing) commanders - [Muhammad] Barhoum, [Raed] Attar, and [Muhammad] Abu Shmala – during the 2014 aggression (i.e., the 2014 Gaza War).
The movement said in a notice today, Friday [Jan. 19, 2018], that what the Barhoum family did proves its rootedness and the depth of its affiliation with the resistance project, and constitutes a wonderful example of the victory of the religion and homeland…
It should be noted that that this morning the Barhoum family renounced Ahmed Barhoum and executed him after it was proven that he was a collaborator of the Israeli occupation."

Fatah official in Gaza after US recognition of Jerusalem: “All the options for defending and protecting this Palestinian, Arab, and Islamic right [to Jerusalem] are open”
Source: Official Palestinian Authority TV, Jan. 10, 2018
Official PA TV, program Palestine This Morning, report from official PA TV studio in Gaza on the responses and protests to US President Donald Trump’s decision to recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s capital and transfer the US embassy to it, interview with Fatah Supreme Leadership Council in the Southern Districts (the Gaza Strip) member Najah Aliwa

Official PA TV host: “Let’s talk about the things that were organized yesterday [Dec. 9, 2017] and before then that stood out: the processions and protests against the transfer of the American embassy to Jerusalem.”
Fatah Supreme Leadership Council in the Southern Districts (the Gaza Strip) member Najah Aliwa: “First of all, I want to direct a blessing of honor to our Palestinian people that is standing firm, our people that [launched] a spontaneous uprising, without orders and instructions – this is Jerusalem. Jerusalem is a red line. Anything that touches Jerusalem touches the entire Palestinian people. It touches the heart and soul of the Palestinian people…
The Palestinian people is well aware of its rights. It knows well that Jerusalem is the eternal capital of the Palestinian state, and therefore there is no concession. Jerusalem is a red line, no one can approach it. All of the options stand before the Palestinian people. All the options for defending and protecting this Palestinian, Arab, and Islamic right are open... Fatah will not veer from the wise decision of the Palestinian leadership. All of the options are open, until the American leadership or American administration takes back its irresponsible decision that was made – I think – in a moment in which clear vision was absent in the American administration.”

Fatah Revolutionary Council Deputy Secretary Majed Al-Fatiani: “Fatah has not relinquished the resistance, but we in Fatah think that the resistance needs to serve the political goal that we are working for, which is to establish the Palestinian national identity, the independence of the Palestinian homeland, and the establishment of the Palestinian state whose capital is Jerusalem. We will continue in our resistance to this occupation.”

Fatah official: "On its 53rd anniversary the Fatah Movement says that it is not putting aside its options of struggle"
Source: Official Palestinian Authority TV, Dec. 31, 2017
Official PA TV, special broadcast following US President Donald Trump’s recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital, hosting Fatah Central Committee member and Fatah Commissioner of NGOs Dalal Salameh

Fatah Central Committee member and Fatah Commissioner of NGOs Dalal Salameh:
“Certainly, there would not have been and will not be any political achievement if there is no impetus, and what is impetus basically? The Palestinian revolution, the armed struggle, your rifle, your struggle, your movement from capital to capital when you are far from your country and homeland, your people that is under the occupation in its struggle, its sacrifice, [and] in the rocks of the first Intifada (i.e., Palestinian wave of violence and terror against Israel, 1987-1993)-”
PA TV Host: “Today the legitimate non-violent struggle.”
Dalal Salameh: “In other words, all of these constant things in the different forms of struggle, certainly they are what will lead to political content in one way or another, and to the Palestinian revolution, as it has a goal. In other words, it is an idea, it strives to get rid of the occupation and establish an independent sovereign state, and for the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, the achievement of these legitimate rights for the Palestinian people; it has a path – a path of struggle for our people, and on its 53rd anniversary the Fatah Movement says that it is not putting aside its options of struggle. It continues with its options of struggle... We will continue our popular resistance, our public movement, we are continuing in this direction; and the occupation, yes, it is not free, [the occupation state] must pay the price for the continuation of its occupation, and our popular struggle continues and escalates.”
