Fatah official: “The ominous Balfour Promise is the greatest crime” ever committed against the Palestinians, Israel was founded for colonial reasons

“Fatah Movement Central Committee member and [Fatah] General Commissioner for Arab and China Relations Abbas Zaki issued a call to the national parties and progressive political forces in the Arab homeland for the 100th anniversary of the Balfour Promise (i.e., Declaration), in which he demanded that they consider Nov. 2, 2017, as a day of Arab rage in all of the Arab capitals and cities. This is in order to expose the shamefulness of the British position and vilify it by publishing statements and letters of condemnation, and embarking on public processions as a sign of condemnation of the ominous Balfour Promise.
Zaki explained that this is meant to force Britain to bear its moral, political, humanitarian, and legal responsibility for the consequences of the oppressive promise, and to demand that it correct the historical injustice that led to the uprooting of our Palestinian people, its expulsion, and the occupation of its homeland. This [would be] through a sincere apology for the crime it committed, which rises to the level of the greatest war crimes that have been committed against inhabitants, children, and the deprived peoples that are struggling for freedom and justice.
He said that the ominous Balfour Promise is the greatest crime that has been committed against the Palestinian people for 100 years, and it is a type of strengthening of the strategic interests of the colonialist forces, which adopted, supported, and strengthened the Zionist project, goals, and presence in Palestine, the heart of the Arab homeland. This was in order to prevent its unity, take over its resources, divide it, split it, and undermine its stability, so that Israel would always be a hostile body to its surroundings and require backing from the colonialist states.
He added that this promise is invalid according to all of the political, legal, moral, and historical standards, because it relates to Palestine as if there were no native inhabitants there. Britain also received a mandate over land that does not belong to it, and therefore, according to international law, it cannot concede a single handbreadth of it to another body other than its native inhabitants.”

The Balfour Declaration of Nov. 2, 1917 was a letter from British Foreign Secretary Arthur Balfour to Baron Rothschild stating that “His Majesty's government views with favour the establishment in Palestine of a national home for the Jewish people.” In 1922, the League of Nations adopted this and made the British Mandate “responsible for putting into effect the declaration,” which led to the UN vote in 1947 and the establishment of the State of Israel.
