Norway ambiguous about aid cuts to PA based on PMW proof on terror spending

Headline: “Norway denies a decision was made to halt the financial aid to the PA”

“Norwegian Ambassador to the PA Hans Jacob Frydenlund denied yesterday [May 15, 2016] to Ma’an (i.e., independent Palestinian news agency) that Norway has decided to stop its financial aid to the Palestinians. The Norwegian ambassador notified top Palestinian officials that there is no change in his country’s policy regarding the aid given to the PA.

It should be noted that earlier yesterday the Israeli Foreign Ministry spokesman [ADD NAME] stated that ‘Norway has notified Israel of its decision to halt the financial aid that it gives the Palestinians, which might reach “terrorists” or their families.’

The spokesman added that Director-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dore Gold spoke with Norwegian Ambassador in Tel Aviv Jon Hanssen-Bauer and told him that Israel appreciates the Norwegian government’s decision.”

In May 2016, PMW presented its report “The PA’s Billion Dollar Fraud” to Norwegian government officials. PMW’s report led to a debate in Parliament about Norwegian funding to the PA. In addition, Norwegian Foreign Minister Børge Brende confronted Abbas about the PA’s policy of rewarding imprisoned Palestinian terrorists with salaries.
