Jerusalem under assault
"Judaization" of Jerusalem
Jerusalem under assault
In 2009 the Palestinian Authority has initiated an unprecedented campaign of historical revision and anti-Israel libels concerning Jerusalem, the focal point being the erasure and denial of 3,000 years of Jewish history in Jerusalem.

In addition, the PA disseminates the libel that Israel is acting both to expel Arabs from Jerusalem and to destroy the Al-Aqsa Mosque. The Jerusalem libels are designed to evoke religious hatred by portraying Israel and the Jews as a threat to Arabs and Islam.

This section documents the recent intensification of the Palestinian Authority's campaign of distortion, historical revision and hate incitement surrounding Jerusalem.

This cartoon with the caption "Judaization of Jerusalem" shows, from right to left, a sinister-looking Jew first sharing the chair with an Arab and then shoving him off.
[Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, official PA daily, Feb 24, 2009]
"Judaization" of Jerusalem
Since Jews are said to have no connection to Jerusalem, nor any right to live in the city, any Israeli action in Jerusalem is defined as "Judaization" and an attempt to erase the city's supposedly authentic Islamic Arab character. The PA has launched an incendiary libel campaign which presents as fact the lie that Israel is acting to destroy the Al-Aqsa Mosque and to expel Arabs from the city. The goal of this PA alarmist campaign is to promote fear and hatred of Jews and Israelis.

[It should be noted that the PA allegation that Israel is pursuing a policy of ridding Jerusalem of its Arab inhabitants is blatantly untrue. In fact, according to May 2009 statistics released by the Jerusalem Center for Israel Studies, since Israel’s liberation of all of Jerusalem in the 1967 Six Day War, Jerusalem's Jewish population has increased by 186%, with the Arab population of east Jerusalem growing by 291%, almost twice the growth rate of the Jewish population.]

“Yesterday [Oct. 10, 2017] an unprecedented escalation in the settlers’ attacks against the religious and civilian sites in the West Bank was recorded. The Israeli occupation forces continued yesterday – on the second consecutive day of the closure of the Ibrahimi Mosque (i.e., Cave of the Patriarchs) to Muslims in occupied Hebron to protect more than 20,000 Jewish settlers who came to the mosque in order to hold ceremonies for the Sukkot holiday…
Director and Head of the Guardians of the Ibrahimi Mosque Sheikh Hafzi Abu Sneineh said that the occupation authorities are Judaizing Hebron in different ways, including through the media, while pointing out that the number of settlers who invaded the Ibrahimi Mosque during the Sukkot holiday that the Israeli media is noting is not precise, and that through this they are trying to draw additional settlers to visit Hebron and the Ibrahimi Mosque. [Abu Sneineh] said: ‘The Ibrahimi Mosque will remain a religious site for Muslims only, and the Jews have no right of any sort to it.’”

PA Government claims rebuilding of Silwan synagogue south of Al-Aqsa “constitutes a new aggression against Jerusalem” and was done for political, not religious, reasons
Source: Official PA daily, Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, Sept. 26, 2017
Headline: “The [PA] government: The participation of senior Israeli officials in the inauguration of a synagogue south of the Al-Aqsa Mosque is a new aggression against Jerusalem”

“The [PA] national unity government said that the participation of senior Israeli officials in the ‘inauguration’ of a synagogue south of the Al-Aqsa Mosque constitutes a new aggression against Jerusalem, and a serious blow to the natural status and the Arab-Islamic landmarks of the city (refers to the reinauguration of a historical synagogue; see note below –Ed.).
Official [PA] Government Spokesman Yusuf Al-Mahmoud said in a statement yesterday [Aug. 25, 2017]: ‘The [Palestinian] national unity government thinks that the establishment of a synagogue in Silwan, south of the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, stems from purely political reasons that are connected to the character of the Israeli occupation government. [The synagogue] is part of the settlement enterprise and has no connection to religion’…
Al-Mahmoud again mentioned the warnings of the leadership and government against the government of Israel’s policy, which is liable to lead to religious wars that nobody wants. He demanded that the international community and free world intervene to put an end to the tensions immediately, and act seriously to establish peace and security in the entire region.”

Silwan synagogue – the Ohel Shlomo Synagogue – A historical Yemenite synagogue in the Silwan neighborhood of Jerusalem, which was destroyed after the British expelled the Yemenite Jewish residents of the neighborhood in the 1930s amid Arab riots. The synagogue is now being restored (2017).

This was due to a folk song in which he praised his homeland and its Martyrs (Shahids), wounded, and prisoners. (the song glorified terrorist Omar Al-And, murderer of 3 Israelis -Ed.)
Al-Barghouti's arrest was preceded by 'a huge amount' of incitement and racism by the Israeli leaders, which led in recent months and even before that to the cancellation of freedoms, killing, abuse, settlement, Judaization, and demolitions, in blatant violation of human morals and standards... The occupation state - which has a record packed full of assassinations, especially against politicians, artists, writers, and authors - has already closed Palestinian radio stations and news channels on the pretext of incitement in the past..."

Official PA TV program Panorama of the Hour, on the Al-Quds and the Return Summer Camp for children in Gaza, hosting Director-General of Refugee Camps in the PLO Department for Refugee Affairs ‎Mazen Abu Zaid

Director-General of Refugee Camps in the PLO Department for Refugee Affairs ‎Mazen Abu Zaid: “In the shadow of the recent events in Jerusalem, the attempt [by Israel] to take control of the Al-Aqsa Mosque, and the Judaization of Jerusalem, the summer camps had to be called “Jerusalem and the Return” indicating a very close connection - not just to return to Jerusalem, but to all of the Palestinian villages and cities from which our forefathers were expelled. The close connection to Jerusalem is because it is an important and dear part of our Palestinian land, and it is a basic part of the Muslim and Christian nation’s holy sites. Therefore they need to be named this, as it is important that our small children be aware and know what is happening in [current] events, as they are the foundation of the future."
