Jerusalem under assault
"Judaization" of Jerusalem
Jerusalem under assault
In 2009 the Palestinian Authority has initiated an unprecedented campaign of historical revision and anti-Israel libels concerning Jerusalem, the focal point being the erasure and denial of 3,000 years of Jewish history in Jerusalem.

In addition, the PA disseminates the libel that Israel is acting both to expel Arabs from Jerusalem and to destroy the Al-Aqsa Mosque. The Jerusalem libels are designed to evoke religious hatred by portraying Israel and the Jews as a threat to Arabs and Islam.

This section documents the recent intensification of the Palestinian Authority's campaign of distortion, historical revision and hate incitement surrounding Jerusalem.

This cartoon with the caption "Judaization of Jerusalem" shows, from right to left, a sinister-looking Jew first sharing the chair with an Arab and then shoving him off.
[Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, official PA daily, Feb 24, 2009]
"Judaization" of Jerusalem
Since Jews are said to have no connection to Jerusalem, nor any right to live in the city, any Israeli action in Jerusalem is defined as "Judaization" and an attempt to erase the city's supposedly authentic Islamic Arab character. The PA has launched an incendiary libel campaign which presents as fact the lie that Israel is acting to destroy the Al-Aqsa Mosque and to expel Arabs from the city. The goal of this PA alarmist campaign is to promote fear and hatred of Jews and Israelis.

[It should be noted that the PA allegation that Israel is pursuing a policy of ridding Jerusalem of its Arab inhabitants is blatantly untrue. In fact, according to May 2009 statistics released by the Jerusalem Center for Israel Studies, since Israel’s liberation of all of Jerusalem in the 1967 Six Day War, Jerusalem's Jewish population has increased by 186%, with the Arab population of east Jerusalem growing by 291%, almost twice the growth rate of the Jewish population.]
Fatah official claims there are "Israeli attempts to Judaize the Al-Aqsa Mosque"
Source: Donia Al-Watan (independent Palestinian news agency), Apr. 6, 2016
Headline: "Al-Qawasmi: The settlers' invasions of the Al-Aqsa Mosque are an Israeli crime that we will not ignore"
"Fatah Spokesman Osama Al-Qawasmi stated that the invasions by the extremist settlers, led by the extremist [Yehuda] Glick, of the Al-Aqsa Mosque plaza constitute a crime against the Islamic holy sites and the Palestinian people's rights, a scandalous violation of international law, a gross offense against Muslim sensibilities and harming of their rights to their blessed mosque, and an Israeli attempt to establish facts on the ground and turn the settlers' invasions of the Al-Aqsa Mosque into a routine matter – which will not happen under any circumstances. In a press statement, Al-Qawasmi emphasized that the Palestinian people will come out against Israeli attempts to Judaize the Al-Aqsa Mosque, and establish facts on the ground under different slogans. Likewise, he emphasized that the Al-Aqsa Mosque and its plaza will remain an Islamic mosque and nothing else, and that it is a red line [that cannot be crossed]. He also added that any attempt to change the status quo before and after the Israeli occupation that began in 1967 will lead to a complete explosion of the situation in the occupied territories."

The PA considers any presence of Jews on the Temple Mount an "invasion."
Head of PA Jerusalem council: Israel "Judaize[s]" holy sites "to prove to the world" that the land is theirs
Source: Ma’an, independent Palestinian news agency, Mar. 17, 2016
"Secretary-General of the PA’s Islamic-Christian Council for Jerusalem and the Holy Places Dr. Hanna Issa stated… 'The Israeli occupation has stolen a large part of our cultural heritage and worked to Judaize it and change the names of the holy sites in order to find a place for itself on this land and to prove to the world that it [the land] has belonged to its forefathers for thousands of years, especially since it has media outlets working to forge history. We are not afraid of our heritage being eroded, but rather of it being stolen by the Israeli occupation.'"
Israeli construction in Wailing Wall plaza is a “callous attack against the Islamic holy sites”
Source: Official PA daily, Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, Dec. 6, 2015
Headline: “The [PLO] Executive Committee: The building of Jewish facilities on the Al-Buraq plaza (i.e., the Western Wall) is a callous attack against the Islamic holy sites”
“The PLO Executive Committee warned against the grave dangers of the occupation municipality’s promise to build Jewish facilities on the Al-Buraq (i.e., Western Wall) plaza in Jerusalem. The committee emphasized that this is a callous attack against the Islamic holy sites, their uniqueness, and their position among the Palestinian people, and the Arab and Islamic peoples. During its meeting yesterday [Dec. 5, 2015] in the presidential compound in Ramallah, led by President Mahmoud Abbas, in the presence of Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah, the committee tasked the political committee with the establishment of a mechanism for the implementation of the Central Committee that were made last March, including the limitation of security and economic relations with the occupying authority, ‘Israel.’ The committee emphasized that in order to fight all the expressions of terror in the region and the world and defeat them, it is necessary to end the Israeli occupation and establish an independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital, in the June 4, 1967 borders. This is because the continuation of the occupation feeds all of the types of extremism and violence in the region and the world.”
Fatah officials at rally for dead terrorist accuse Israel of trying to “Judaize Jerusalem”, dividing the Al-Aqsa Mosque, and “desecrat[ing] the sites holy to Islam and Christianity”
Source: Ma’an, independent Palestinian news agency, Nov. 14, 2015
“The rally to eulogize Martyr (Shahid) Muhannad Halabi, which the Islamic Jihad movement organized in the Salim Afandi Hall in El-Bireh on Saturday afternoon [Nov. 14, 2015], turned into a national wedding, during which everyone agreed on the importance of the continuation of the Jerusalem Intifada, a natural response to the occupation’s aggression, settlement and Judaization campaigns...
PLO Executive Committee member and Deputy Secretary-General of the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine (DFLP) Qais Abd Al-Karim ‘Abu Laila’... expressed his pride in the cry [Halabi] uttered for the place from which Prophet Muhammad Ascended to Heaven [the Al-Aqsa Mosque] and as a sign of opposition to the humiliation of our mothers and sisters who are carrying out Ribat (i.e., religious conflict/war over land claimed to be Islamic) in the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque.
He said that this Intifada sent two clear messages, the first to the world, that the existing situation, in which the occupation continue to expand the settlement, to Judaize Jerusalem, and to desecrate the sites holy to Islam and Christianity, cannot continue, and that its continuation will lead to our resistance...
PLO Central Committee Member and Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine (DFLP) member Omar Shehadeh [said]: ‘The Intifada which Halabi detonated succeeded in preventing the division of the Al-Aqsa Mosque and spoke out against the ghost of Jerusalem’s Judaization.’ In addition, he emphasized in this context his belief that in the end our people will liberate its land, and the whole world, from the affliction of the Zionist project.”

PA daily demonizing op-ed claims Israel “Judaize[s] Jerusalem”
Source: Official PA daily, Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, Nov. 5, 2015
Op-ed by Muwaffaq Matar, columnist for official PA daily
Headline: “You do not have a future on our land, O Lapid, and get out of our sky!”
“Do not leave us. Continue to weigh on our chest, to kill our children and young people, to Judaize Jerusalem and our holy sites, to uproot us from our land, and to bring foreign Jews in our place, and to build homes for the Jewish ISIS in place of our homes! Remain, and we love your occupation, your injustice and terror, and get up every morning grateful for your Talmudic bloody crimes. Remain with your robbers’ swords in your hands... We do not want an independent Palestinian state with its capital in  Jerusalem. Your state which violates international law is enough for us... Who told [Israeli Parliament (Knesset) member Yair] Lapid that the Palestinian people does not want to get rid of the occupation? Who convinced Lapid that the Palestinian people wants to see the settlements on its land, army camps, tanks, tractors, soldiers and officers, into whom orders and Talmudic rabbis’ rulings have been injected, which allow the spilling of the blood of Palestinians, the original owners of the land? ... Does Lapid not know that the occupationis like a virus and the settlement is like cancer, and you are supposed to remove them from your body, and not the opposite? Unless the fabricating genius wants to take apart the body, cut it up, and crumble it, in order to keep its viruses and cancers!”
PA TV host: The Protocol of the Elders of Zion is authentic Jewish plan to "Judaize" the world
Source: Official Palestinian Authority TV, Nov. 4, 2015

Imad Hamato, Professor of Quranic Studies at the University of Palestine in Gaza and host of weekly PA TV program on Islam: "The Prophet [Muhammad] said: “The Israelites killed 42 prophets in one day. 170 men came and ordered them to do good and abstain from evil, so they [the Israelites] killed them in the evening.”
They are the slayers of the prophets and the slayers of the innocent. There is a falsified Biblical base to their path of blood... [Israel] erases the Islamic traces and fingerprints in Jerusalem. This is a serious matter - Judaization of the land. In addition, the Judaization of people, Judaization of their thinking and education. This is a serious matter – the Judaization of people.
Then they began to Judaize education by flooding the media, as was written in The Protocol of the Elders of Zion: “We have to strive that the Westerner, the Arab, the American and the Australian will hear only what the Jews want him to hear.” They focused on this matter. Now, they have entered the 4th serious stage, the Judaization of the Islamic faith."

PA daily warns of Judaization of Jerusalem and “the slaughter of Jerusalem’s identity by the Zionist occupation”
Source: Official PA daily, Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, Nov. 1, 2015
Excerpt from article by Imad Arian which was published in the Al-Bayan newspaper in the Emirates
Headline: “The destruction of the Al-Aqsa [Mosque] is imminent”
“What is happening in the field reflects the grave danger to Jerusalem and the Al-Aqsa Mosque, as Judaization of the city and the shattering of its Palestinian-Arab-Islamic identity indeed constitute the slaughter of Jerusalem’s identity by the Zionist occupation, which has entered unprecedented stages. Likewise, the possibility that the Al-Aqsa [Mosque] will be destroyed, and that the alleged Temple will be established [in its place] stands before everyone, after the extreme right government and the Talmudic organizations associated with it have turned it into practical steps, which nobody doubts any longer… It could be that the destruction of the Al-Aqsa Mosque is imminent at this stage and the coming stages, in light of the absence of any regional or international actions to deter the Zionist aggression.”

The party sent its honor and admiration to Palestine’s glorious women, who have always proved that they are partners and fighters who lead the ranks.’

“Fatah Central Committee member Sultan Abu Al-Einein stated: ‘President Mahmoud Abbas is the head of the Palestinian legitimacy and president of all Palestinians. The Fatah movement stands united at its people’s side, with no side-disputes and takes a responsible standpoint in our people’s recent confrontations.’ Moreover, he emphasized that he personally supports, with all his might, the uprising and the intifada of our young people, aimed at defending Jerusalem and the Al-Aqsa Mosque, and this is the [Fatah] movement’s position. Abu Al-Einein added that the fact that the occupiers revoked his VIP document will not influence his position calling to support the uprising and the intifada of our heroic Palestinian people, in order to defend Jerusalem against the Judaization and crush the plot to divide the Al-Aqsa Mosque according to areas and times...
Abu Al-Einin continued responding to the report: ‘There are no disagreements in Fatah, and there is no right and left. It leads its heroic people in crucial historic moments, and there is no room for supporters and opponents, in light of this crucial historic situation of our national cause. We will undoubtedly defeat the arrogance of the cowardly settlers who are protected by the occupation army, armed with billions of dollars, while we, our youth and our children come out with our cold weapons (i.e., stones, knifes, etc.) to fight back and to defend our Al-Aqsa [Mosque] from any kind of defilement.”

PA Minister of Religion: Israel has “evil plot” to build “alleged Temple in place of the Al-Aqsa Mosque” and “every Palestinian will forego his right to life to protect the holy sites”

Headline: "Sheikh Yusuf Ida'is to Al-Quds: 'The Arab countries must make strong decisions to save the Al-Aqsa Mosque'"
“Sheikh Yusuf Ida’is, Minister of Religious Affairs in Palestine, called on the Arab countries to make strong active decisions to save Jerusalem and the Al-Aqsa Mosque from the occupation… During his interview with Al-Quds, the Minister of Religious Affairs praised the efforts that Egypt, Jordan, and Saudi Arabia are making in order to help the convoy of Palestinian pilgrims [to Mecca] and provide them with everything they need…
Below is the content of the interview:
What about the Al-Aqsa Mosque and the threats it is experiencing? Jerusalem needs a lot and is in danger, and the Al-Aqsa Mosque is in danger. I attest before you that every Palestinian will forego his right to life in order to protect the holy sites and the honor of the Arab and Islamic nation. I believe that Israel is deluding itself if it plans to take over the Al-Aqsa Mosque, and it will not succeed in doing so. This has already happened in the past, when it decided to harm us, and the intifadas (Palestinian wave of violence and terror against Israel, 1987-1993, and PA terror campaign 2000-2005 –Ed.) arose in order to protect the [Al-Aqsa] Mosque, and it sacrificed Martyrs (Shahids)…
What about your visit to Egypt, and what did you conclude with the religious authorities? I visited some of the religious authorities in Al-Azhar, Dar Alaftaa, (i.e., the central authority for Fatwahs), and the seat of the head of the Sharifs (i.e., descendants of the Prophet Muhammad), and they all agreed unanimously that there will be practical, real, serious actions in the field in order to aid Jerusalem and its residents in their resolve and their resistance to the occupation, and in preventing the evil plot to Judaize the holy city and establish the alleged Temple in place of the Al-Aqsa
