Source: Official PA daily, Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, Apr. 16, 2018
“The popular campaign to release leader Marwan Barghouti and the rest of the prisoners sitting in the occupation’s prison marked the 16th anniversary of Fatah Central Committee member Marwan Barghouti’s arrest yesterday [April 15, 2018] at a rally held at the Palace of Culture in Ramallah, with the participation of hundreds of members of our people.
Fatah Movement Deputy General Leader (i.e., Deputy Chairman) and [Fatah] Central Committee member Mahmoud Al-Aloul blessed prisoner Marwan Barghouti. He noted: ‘On the anniversary of Fatah Central Committee member Marwan Barghouti’s kidnapping, (i.e., terrorist who was arrested and imprisoned for orchestrating attacks in which 5 were murdered) we salute him and all the prisoners of freedom for their day – Prisoner’s Day that will take place in two days – since they are a symbol of our pride, and they are in the hearts of all our people.’ …
He added: ‘The anniversary of Marwan Barghouti’s kidnapping takes place at the same time as the anniversary of the death as a Martyr (Shahid) of leader Khalil Al-Wazir ‘Abu Jihad’ (i.e., terrorist, responsible for murder of 125)… Khalil Al-Wazir was and will remain our example and a role model… He emphasized that the leadership opposes all of the external pressures concerning the prisoners, which [PA] President Mahmoud Abbas emphasized: ‘If we will only be left with a few Dirhams (i.e., a currency in some Arab states), we will allocate them to the families of the prisoners as a sign of appreciation for their sacrifice.’"

US recognition of Jerusalem as capital of Israel - On Dec. 6, 2017, US President Donald Trump formally recognized Jerusalem as Israel’s capital and instructed the State Department to begin preparations to transfer the US embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. Trump added that the final borders of Jerusalem will be determined during negotiations.
On Feb. 23, 2018, the US State Department announced that the US embassy will open in Jerusalem on May 14, 2018. The date is the anniversary of Israel's declaration of independence in 1948 according to the Gregorian calendar.

PA Ministry of Information attacks Taylor Force Act, says “the freedom Martyrs and our brave prisoners are not highway robbers or gang members, but rather one of the elements of the legitimate resistance to the occupation”
Source: Official PA daily, Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, Mar. 24, 2018
"The [PA] Ministry of Information said that the American Congress’ demand to stop paying the Martyrs’ (Shahids) and prisoners' allowances (mukhassasat) in return for the continuation of the aid to the institutions of the Palestinian state is a continuation of the political extortion, extremism, and support for the occupation.
It said that the decision proves that Washington and [US] President [Donald] Trump's administration are not just biased in favor of the occupation and the settlement enterprise, but have become a part of [Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin] Netanyahu's government, officially joined the extremism and racism, and ignored the fact that the American Constitution promotes freedom and justice. The ministry emphasized that the freedom Martyrs and our brave prisoners are not highway robbers or gang members, but rather one of the elements of the legitimate resistance to the occupation, which is supported by international law."

PA Ministry of Information attacks US Ambassador David Friedman, calling to put him on the global terror list
Source: PA Ministry of Information website, Mar. 22, 2018
Headline: "The [PA] Ministry of Information: Friedman is the ambassador of the settlements and the advocate of extremism"

"The [PA] Ministry of Information threw light on US Ambassador in Tel Aviv David Melech Friedman's life story, whose name has become prominent in [US] President [Donald] Trump's administration, and who is known for his extremist positions which support the settlement enterprise and which contradict international law and the resolutions of the [UN] Security Council and General Assembly.
Friedman is a Jewish lawyer with expertise in bank failures. He is one of the four sons of [the late] Morris Friedman, rabbi of the conservative synagogue Temple Hillel in New York…
What stands out in the life story of the ambassador who is biased in favor of the occupation is his volunteering to head the institute American Friends of the Beit El Institutions (sic., American Friends of Beit El), which gives $2 million annually to a settlement that was established on lands north-east of occupied Ramallah, and at whose checkpoints dozens of Palestinians have died as Martyrs (Shahids), been wounded, and been tortured. Friedman claims that there is no problem of occupation…
The American ambassador writes a column in the notorious newspaper Arutz Sheva, which is published in the Beit El colony, and which constitutes a platform for incitement against the members of our people. Through it, Friedman presents opinions that oppose the two-state solution…
The [PA] Ministry [of Information] calls to put Ambassador Friedman on the global terror list, as he violates international law, supports the settlement enterprise, and promotes ethnic cleansing, and dark racism.”
PA Ministry of Foreign Affairs declares US Ambassador Friedman’s behavior "the ugliest kind of Antisemitism"

Headline: “[PA] Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates: Friedman’s positions are antisemitic and racist and disqualify him”

“The [PA] Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates said in a statement that US Ambassador [to Israel] David Friedman’s statements, positions, and hostile behavior towards the Palestinian people and its national rights and human rights constitute a blatant deviation from diplomacy and its conventions, the ugliest kind of Antisemitism, and a scandalous violation of international law…
The statement also said: ‘From day to day Friedman proves that he is an ambassador of the settlers and their gangs. He holds the ideology and positions of the extremist right-wing in Israel, which are based on perpetuating the occupation and the settlement enterprise, on enmity towards the Palestinian people, and on negating its national and human existence.’”

Abbas’ Fatah Movement attacks US for cutting aid to UNRWA and closing the PLO offices in Washington
Source: Official PA daily, Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, Mar. 21, 2018
Headline: “Fatah: The US is behaving with political hypocrisy of the highest order”

“The Fatah Movement said that the American administration is behaving with political hypocrisy of the highest order towards the Palestinian people and [PA] President Mahmoud Abbas. Fatah Movement Spokesman Osama Al-Qawasmi noted in a press release yesterday (Tuesday) [March 20, 2018] that the White House stops the aid to UNRWA (UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East) and our people, and [then] convenes a conference for saving the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip; it closes the PLO offices [in Washington] in accordance with the decision of Congress that defines the PLO as ‘terrorist,’ and then invites the president to visit the US and move forward in the political process. He emphasized: ‘The slap of the century (in Arabic rhymes with “the deal of the century,” US President Donald Trump’s as yet unannounced Middle East peace plan –Ed.) will not pass. We are united around President Mahmoud Abbas and his brave, firm, and clear positions facing this Israeli-American aggression.’”

In early January 2018, the US froze two planned payments to UNRWA (UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East) for more than $100 million, and the US administration spoke about the need to reexamine and conduct a reform of the UN body. This occurred after the PA refused to negotiate with Israel and cut diplomatic ties with America following US recognition of Jerusalem as Israel's capital on Dec. 6, 2017.

PLO US office closure - On Nov. 17, 2017, the American administration announced that the PLO has violated a 2015 Congressional mandate, which states that the PLO cannot operate an office in Washington if the Palestinians try to get the International Criminal Court to prosecute Israelis for crimes against the Palestinians
Oped by PLO official: US Ambassador Friedman is “the most loyal propagandist of the occupation, the settlers, and the criminals” for demanding PA condemn terror attacks
Source: Ma’an, independent Palestinian news agency, Mar. 21, 2018
Excerpt of op-ed by Director of PLO Commission of Prisoners’ Affairs Issa Karake

Headline: "The American ambassador in Tel Aviv condemns!"

"American Ambassador in Tel Aviv David Friedman condemned the fact that the PA did not condemn the operations (i.e., terror attacks) against the settlers. He made this condemnation while wearing a settler hat and carrying a gun and hoe, after registering as a member of the price tag and hilltop youth settler organizations, which kidnapped and burned Martyr (Shahid) Muhammad Abu Khdeir and the Dawabsheh family (sic., the attacks referred to were not committed by any organizations; see notes below –Ed.).
The American ambassador is the most loyal propagandist of the occupation, the settlers, and the criminals. He does not think about the Palestinians killed as [in his eyes] our dead are not living creatures. Only the Israelis are good and they have priority among the creations. We are the lowly Arabs . The Israelis' blood is different and their souls are different, and therefore they must be given everything. The land, the promise, and the skies belong to them. They are allowed to kill, commit crimes, occupy another people, and remain alive.
Mr. Ambassador… the aggressor, foreigner, and murderer does not become the victim who is in need of your condemnation and tears…

Abbas: US Ambassador to Israel is "son of a bitch"
Source: Official Palestinian Authority TV, Mar. 19, 2018

PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas' speech at a meeting of the Palestinian leadership at the PA headquarters in Ramallah

PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas: “They [the US] decided to transfer their embassy to it [Jerusalem], cut their allocations to UNRWA, and consider settlement legal. This was said by more than one American official, the first of them is their ambassador here in Tel Aviv, David Friedman, who said: "They are building in their land." Son of a bitch! (Lit: “son of a dog”) They are building in their land? He is a settler, his family are settlers, and he is the US ambassador in Tel Aviv, so what do we expect of him?”

Fatah official attacks US over Jerusalem decision, demonizes Israel, and accuses Israel of “defilement of the sanctified places in Jerusalem,” and calls riots and terror attacks as “epics of courage”
Source: Official Palestinian Authority TV, Mar. 6, 2018
Fatah Central Committee Secretary and Head of the PLO Supreme Council for Sport and Youth Affairs Jibril Rajoub: “What American President [Donald Trump] did when he omitted Jerusalem with a single stroke from the final resolution issues provides a recipe for continuation of the war and adds fuel to the fire, and this is inappropriate conduct... The US, led by Trump, is working to cover up for the organized state terror that is being led by a government that includes extremist fanatics, while the actions of murdering and arresting children, destroying homes, and expropriating lands constitute the height of terror, which requires international intervention to restrain its wild behavior... The official, settlement, rabbinic, and Jewish extremism is what feeds the phenomena of extremism in the region, through that which the settlers are committing with the support of the occupation government: arson, murder, expropriation, imprisonment, humiliation, and defilement of the sanctified places in Jerusalem – and especially the incessant invasions of the Al-Aqsa Mosque, which is thanks to American support and partnership…
The people of Jerusalem – who in July 2017 recorded epics of courage with their bared chests by defending the Al-Aqsa Mosque and Jerusalem (refers to riots and terror attacks; see note below –Ed.) – raise their eyes to the young Muslims through you (i.e., participants at the conference) with much hope, faith, and resolution.”

PA Prime Minister claims "there is a monetary and political blockade" imposed by the US, and that the PA has not received aid from the US in two years
Source: Official Palestinian Authority TV, Mar. 3, 2018
Official PA TV News, on the Palestinians being unwilling to trade their principles for financial support

Official PA TV newsreader: “[PA] Prime Minister [Rami Hamdallah] emphasized that the leadership is withstanding political and financial pressures that the US has been exerting on Palestine through a monetary blockade for approximately two years. He emphasized his opposition to trading the basic national principles in exchange for political money.”

PA Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah: “As much as we are facing a difficult situation, and as much as there is a monetary and political blockade. – By the way, the US blockade is not from this year. For two years they have not been paying us. We are making do and everything is fine. We always say that it is impossible to trade firm national positions in exchange for any political money. We do not want political money. Will we relinquish Jerusalem in exchange for political money? It is impossible to relinquish Jerusalem, or one grain or bit of our land.”
PA government holds US “fully responsible” for “consequences” of transferring US embassy to Jerusalem, refugee issue is “root and heart” of the conflict
Source: Official PA daily, Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, Feb. 28, 2018
Headline: “The [PA] government emphasizes its support for the [PA] president’s initiative and holds Washington responsible for the consequences of transferring the embassy to Jerusalem”
“The [PA] government… held the American administration fully responsible for the consequences of transferring the embassy to Jerusalem. It demanded that the international community oppose this declaration and translate this opposition into action – particularly the EU states – by hurrying to recognize the State of Palestine in the 1967 borders whose capital is East Jerusalem…
The government emphasized that the issue of the refugees is the root and heart of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, which will only be resolved when a just and agreed upon solution is found for the problem of the refugees, according to UN General Assembly Resolution 194.”

PA Mufti warns of “disasters of wars, anarchy, and instability” in region following US embassy move to Jerusalem, urges Palestinians and Muslims to “sacrifice all that is dear to them”
Source: Official PA daily, Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, Feb. 26, 2018
“[PA] Grand Mufti of Jerusalem and the Palestinian Territories, preacher at the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, [and Palestinian Supreme Fatwa Council Chairman] Sheikh Muhammad Hussein warned against the severity of the American administration’s decision on transferring its embassy to occupied Jerusalem, which was set for Nakba Day (see notes, Ed.). He said that this testifies to the insolence that those who are biased in favor of the occupation have reached, while they continue to do an injustice to our people and its holy sites and to blatantly harm the Palestinian cause in an attempt to eliminate it. The mufti emphasized that this arbitrary behavior will have severe consequences that the American administration will bear. He explained that the transfer of the American embassy to Jerusalem, if it is carried out, will not be an attack on the Palestinians alone, but rather a blatant attack on the Arabs and Muslims throughout the world…and that it will not serve peace and security in the region, but rather bring upon it disasters of wars, anarchy, and instability. Sheikh Hussein added that the residents of Jerusalem and all of the Palestinians, Arabs, and Muslims will not submit to this blatant attack, and will sacrifice all that is dear to them in order to confront the American stubbornness.”

Op-ed in PA daily: Trump’s political decisions, including decision to transfer US embassy to Jerusalem, stem from a “complex, impulsive, unbalanced, and mentally unstable personality”
Source: Official PA daily, Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, Feb. 25, 2018
Excerpt of an op-ed by Muwaffaq Matar, Fatah Revolutionary Council member and regular columnist for the official PA daily

Headline: “Washington is the first loser”
“We will do no injustice to American President Donald Trump if we say that his political decisions, and particularly those that are connected to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, stem from a complex, impulsive, unbalanced, and mentally unstable personality, and in our opinion these are the main characteristics of the racist personality.
Trump is proving that he is not only aggressive, rude, and controlling, but that he is a combination of a mentality of theft and of a denial of the rights of others, and these are exactly the characteristics of the Zionist personality....”
