PLO official: “From now on we will return to using the expression ‘the American imperialism’ and not ‘the American administration’”

Official PA TV program From the Interior, on the High Follow-Up Committee for Arab Citizens of Israel and the Palestinian national and Islamic factions calling for a general strike against the Jewish Nation-State Law on Oct. 1, 2018, hosting PLO Executive Committee member, Secretary-General of the Palestinian Popular Struggle Front (PPSF), and head of the PLO Department of Labor and Planning Ahmed Majdalani

Official PA TV host: “Do you see that after all these developments there is a possibility for a two-state solution, particularly after [the displaying of] the American position that supports Israel?”

PLO Executive Committee member and head of the PLO Department of Labor and Planning Ahmed Majdalani: “Look, this is an issue of struggle, an issue of struggle with the Israeli occupation and with the American imperialism. From now on we will return to using the expression ‘the American imperialism’ and not ‘the American administration.’ This expression, which has been lacking in the Palestinian political literature in recent years – it is appropriate that it be honored again, because the American imperialism has not changed in the last 30 years. It is still the same imperialist policy.”

Jewish Nation-State Law – law passed by the Israeli Parliament on July 19, 2018, which codifies in Israel's Basic Law that Israel is the home of the Jewish nation with Jerusalem its capital, and the Hebrew calendar its official calendar. It establishes Hebrew as the sole official language and grants Arabic a special status, and it recognizes Jewish and Israeli holidays, memorial days, and the Jewish Sabbath as national holidays and days of rest - while guaranteeing the right of all Israeli citizens and residents to celebrate their holidays and days of rest. The law, which passed with 62 in favor, 55 against, and 2 abstentions, has sparked controversy within Israeli society.
