PA municipality names street after Venezuelan president Hugo Chavez
Source: Official PA daily, Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, Apr. 26, 2018
“The Aqaba Municipality north of the city of Tubas named one of the town’s streets after former Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez. This was in the presence of Venezuelan Ambassador to Palestine Maher Taha, General Supervisor of the [PA] Official Media Ahmad Assaf, [PA] Security Forces Spokesman Adnan Al-Damiri, and Acting Tubas District Governor Ahmed Al-As’ad. Taha thanked our people for this gesture. He emphasized that his state is making every effort to strengthen the ties between the two states.
He added that the naming of a Palestinian street after Chavez testifies to the strong connection between the two states, which affirms the statement: ‘Palestine is Venezuela, and Venezuela is Palestine.’”

Hugo Rafael Chavez Frias (1954-2013) was President of Venezuela from 1999 until his death in 2013. He endorsed a socialist, anti-Imperialist political ideology. Chavez was a vocal critic of America and Israel, calling Israel worse than Hitler in its treatment of Palestinians. His anti-Zionism and close relations with Iran led to allegations of Antisemitism by the Simon Wiesenthal Center.
Fatah condemns US-led attack on Syria, demands world also focus on Israeli “massacres” against Palestinians
Source: Official PA daily, Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, Apr. 15, 2018
"The factions yesterday [April 14, 2018] condemned the Western tripartite act of aggression that the US, Britain, and France perpetrated against Syria… The Fatah Movement said in a statement by the Commission of Information, Culture, and Ideology that the tripartite military attack on the land of the Arab republic of Syria constitutes illegal use of military force, as it took place without a mandate from the [UN] Security Council, and therefore is liable to have severe consequences regarding the situation in Syria, the region's security, and its welfare. The movement also emphasized its strong opposition to any use of chemical weapons, whose use has been internationally banned... Fatah Central Committee member and [Fatah] Commissioner of Mobilization and Organization [in the West Bank] Jamal Muhaisen... demanded that just as the world claims it is worried about Syria’s children, so too it should worry about Palestine’s children, stop the Israeli massacres against them, rein in the Israeli occupation, and put an end to its actions against the members of our people."

PA daily op-ed calls attack on Syrian chemical weapon facilities “barbaric,” accuses an “Anglo-Saxon-Israeli colonialist plot” of being behind violence in the region
Source: Official PA daily, Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, Apr. 15, 2018
Excerpt of an op-ed by Omar Hilmi Al-Ghoul, regular columnist for the official PA daily

"The US, Britain, and France – and by implication Israel too – perpetrated an imperialist and barbaric act of aggression against the Arab republic of Syria. Warships launched 110 missiles from the Mediterranean Sea towards several civilian and military targets (sic., three chemical weapon facilities were attacked) in Syrian territories, but the criminal attack was a resounding failure and did not succeed in achieving any of its political goals, and its message arrived weak and wretched.
However, the problem was not the scope and level of the message, but a problem of principle – a violation of the sovereignty of an independent state and UN member. The attacking states did not receive any mandate from the UN for the attack in Syria. The talk about the use of chemical weapons against the Syrian civilians in Douma on April 7 [2018] is a big outright lie... The regime does not bear sole responsibility for the present situation; the Anglo-Saxon-Israeli colonialist plot and its mercenary Takfiri (i.e., A Muslim who accuses other Muslims of heresy, referring to organizations such as ISIS and Al-Qaeda) pawns are the most responsible for Syria's present situation."

He also said that [US President Donald] Trump will no longer have a role in the political process or a [peace] agreement between the Israelis and Palestinians.
Zaki’s statements came after Hezbollah Secretary-General Mr. Hassan Nasrallah’s speech at a mass demonstration for Jerusalem held in the southern quarter of Beirut, in which he called on the Palestinian people to carry out a third intifada in response to American President Donald Trump’s recent decision, as part of which he recognized Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.
