PA daily columnist criticizes Hamas for collaborating with Israel

Columnist Adel Abd Al-Rahman:
Headline: "Al-Zahar changes the facts"
"In a new interview with the BBC satellite station in Arabic… Hamas political bureau member Dr. Mahmoud Al-Zahar said that the Martyr (Shahid) and symbol, Yasser Arafat, and Mahmoud Abbas, 'changed the political entity that had been called… ‘the PLO,’ and made it into ‘the CIO,’ the 'Collaboration with Israel Organization.'
There is no doubt that the two presidents, the former and the current, of the PLO have played a central role in strategic political changes achieved by the Palestinians and they are seen as the spiritual and operative fathers of all the changes, climaxed by the signing of the Oslo Accords on Sept. 13, 1993. They did not do what they did out of the goodness of their hearts or in order to cooperate with Israel. Their aim was to gain a Palestinian foothold on Palestinian land, as a prologue to achieving the national objectives: freedom, independence, self-determination, and the right of return for Palestinian refugees, on the basis of International [UN] Resolution 194. All this while the Hamas movement… distanced itself from the armed struggle, from the Martyrs, the PLO, and the national objectives…
All these blows to the unity of our ranks and to our national objectives were carried out by Hamas in coordination with the Israeli occupation and aggression state. Even bombing operations against Israelis fit in with the Israeli agenda, since they came before or together with each redeployment of the Israeli occupation army in Palestinian territories. Likewise, the black revolution of mid-2007 was carried out in cooperation and coordination with Israel, since this revolution is a strategic treasure for Israel."
