PA official: Arafat provided medical insurance for Fatah fighters
Official Palestinian Authority TV - June 1, 2015

Official Palestinian TV program A Nation is Built.
Haidar Ibrahim, past Deputy Minister of Minstry of Labor: “First of all, we want medical insurance [for workers]. There are workers who can’t pay for a loaf of bread. It’s already been a year or two [that the insurance has been halted]. President Arafat, may his memory be blessed, paid for insurance for the Al-Aqsa Martyrs’ Brigades soldiers, and then the funds were given to the most needy workers, etc. After that it was halted. It’s the government’s responsibility.”

Note: The Al-Aqsa Martyrs’ Brigades - established by Arafat in 2000, when he started the PA terror campaign (the second Intifada). He unified separate Palestinian armed groups into a single body under the name The Al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades, which is still Fatah’s official military wing today, and is on the US and EU list of terror organizations.
