Libel: Israel murdered Arafat
Libels
Since the Palestinian Authority was established it has systematically indoctrinated young and old to hate Israelis and Jews. Using media, education, and cultural structures that it controls, the PA has actively promoted religious hatred, demonization, conspiracy libels, etc. These are packaged to present Israelis and Jews as endangering Palestinians, Arabs, and all humanity. This ongoing campaign has so successfully instilled hatred that fighting, murder and even suicide terror against Israelis and Jews are seen by the majority of Palestinians as justified self-defense and as Allah’s will.

Throughout history bogus conspiracy accusations have been used to incite hatred, violence, and mass murder. The myriad conspiracy libels concerning Israel, Israelis and Jews are an integral part of the Palestinian Authority’s ongoing hate promotion. PA libels claim that Israel conspires to infect Palestinians with AIDS, spread drug addiction, conspired and successfully murdered Arafat, and more. The PA’s goal has been to inculcate hatred to the degree that fighting and murdering Jews and Israelis will be glorified as heroic self-defense.
Libel: Israel murdered Arafat
When Yasser Arafat became sick and died in November 2004, the PA spread the libel that Israel poisoned Arafat. It is possible that the claim that Israel killed Arafat with poison was designed to connect Arafat with the Islamic tradition that Jews poisoned Muhammad, Islam’s Prophet:
“Aisha [wife of Muhammad] narrated: The Prophet in his ailment in which he died, used to say, "O 'Aisha! I still feel the pain caused by the food I ate at Khaibar [Jewish tribe], and at this time, I feel as if my aorta is being cut from that poison." (Sahih al-Bukhari, Volume 5, Book 59, Number 713)

Indeed, PA Minister of Religious Affairs Mahmoud Al-Habbash made that very connection in a Friday sermon broadcast on PA TV. Al-Habbash preached that Arafat was murdered in the same way as Muhammad, repeating three times that Muhammad died from poison given to him in Khaibar - a town known for being Jewish in Islamic tradition:
"Yasser Arafat died a Martyr (Shahid) - we don't have the slightest doubt that they (i.e., the Jews/Israelis) killed him. One way or another, they killed him. Even Allah's Messenger [Muhammad] - they (i.e., the Jews) killed him with poison. When he was dying, he said to his wife Aisha: 'I feel the same pain I felt from the poison that I ate at Khaibar (Jewish village).' Poison that he ate at Khaibar. He continued to feel the pain until he died. 'I feel the same pain I felt from the poison that I ate at Khaibar.'" [Official Palestinian Authority TV, Nov. 8, 2013]

PA: Arafat died of AIDS
Countering the libel that Israel poisoned Arafat, Ahmad Jibril, Head of the PFLP-GC (Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine - General Command), stated frankly on Al-Manar TV that the PA leadership is aware that Arafat died of AIDS:
"When [Palestinian Chairman] Mahmoud Abbas came to Damascus, I asked: 'What was found in the [medical] inquiry of the death of brother Arafat?' One [of the group] said: 'Frankly, the French gave us the medical report, and the cause of Arafat's death was AIDS.'" [Al-Manar (Hezbollah TV) July 5, 2007]
This information about Arafat’s cause of death has never been released to the public.

To give credence to the libel that Israel killed Arafat, the PA concocted an international conspiracy in which Israel initiated the murder plan, the US approved it (with certain conditions), and the French doctors who treated Arafat concealed the truth in order to salvage the peace process.

Investigation into the cause of Arafat’s death
In 2012, the PA decided to take samples from Arafat's remains to test if he had been poisoned. In November 2013, a Swiss and a Russian team published the results of these tests. The Swiss team concluded that the tests were "coherent with a hypothesis of poisoning." However, a member of the team also stated that "our study did not permit us to demonstrate categorically the hypothesis of poisoning by polonium." The Russian report concluded that "there was insufficient evidence to support the theory that Yasser Arafat died in 2004 by polonium poisoning." [Reuters, Nov. 8, 2013]

The circumstances surrounding Arafat’s death remain unclear, and tests have yielded inconclusive results. In response to reports about Arafat being poisoned, The Independent wrote the following:
"A leading British biomedical scientist says it is 'highly unlikely' that former Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat died in a French hospital in 2004 from a lethal dose of radioactive polonium... Professor Nicholas Priest, who formerly headed the biomedical research unit of the Atomic Energy Authority in Britain, told The Independent that, while poisoning by polonium 'cannot be totally ruled out,' the symptoms were very different from those of the Russian dissident Alexander Litvinenko, who died in London in 2006... He pointed out that polonium would be naturally produced in the bones of anyone buried as a by-product of the bones absorbing lead from the soil, a point, he said, that 'the authors of the report understand but the journalists do not'... Professor Priest said it was 'far too dangerous and scientifically unjustified' to calculate how much polonium was in Arafat's body on the basis of 'such tiny concentrations of polonium.'"

Regardless of whether Arafat was poisoned or not, the PA continues to blame Israel for Arafat’s death without any proof or backing for this claim.

The following are examples of this PA libel, in their own words:
Official PA daily: Israel's leadership poisoned Yasser Arafat
Source: Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, June 18, 2014
By Muwaffaq Matar, regular columnist for the official PA daily
"This action (i.e., the kidnapping) is - if not a deliberate act on the part of Israel meant to achieve the goal described above (i.e., to weaken the PA) - a free gift to Israel from some group or regional power that shares a common goal with Israel: To convince large countries and friends of the Palestinian people to retract their recognition of the abilities of the Palestinian Security Forces, and to weaken these countries' faith in the possibility of the success of the two-state solution... Everyone knows that the Netanyahu government has used the disappearance of the three settlers [as an excuse] to conduct security operations the likes of which have not been seen in the Palestinian West Bank since the end of Operation Defensive Shield, which culminated in the siege of the Muqata'a (the PA Presidential Headquarters in Ramallah) and the poisoning of the leader President Yasser Arafat by the leadership of the occupation state."

Operation Defensive Shield - a large Israeli military operation in April 2002 in response to the many suicide bombings during PA terror campaign (the second Intifada). Israel put Arafat under siege and invaded six of the largest West Bank cities in an attempt to destroy the terror infrastructure.

Op-ed by Yahya Rabah – a columnist for the official PA daily.

Official PA daily: "Israel made dozens of secret and overt attempts to assassinate him [Arafat]... culminating in his siege and poisoning"
Source: Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, Jan. 22, 2014
Op-ed by Yahya Yakhlif, head of the directorial council and editor in chief of the official PA daily
“And as I said [before], Yasser Arafat had been a target throughout the entire [period] he led the revolution and the PLO, and Israel made dozens of secret and overt attempts to assassinate him, from the moment he entered the territories occupied in 1967, through the attack on his central base in Al-Karameh, the Israel Air Force attack on his operational headquarters in Hammam Al-Shatt in Tunisia and other events which were not publicized, culminating in his [being under] siege and poisoning in the Muqata’a (the PA’s Presidential Headquarters).”

Al-Karameh - In 1968, Israeli army forces attacked the Al-Karameh village in Jordan, where Fatah terrorists were launching attacks on Israel. Arafat used the event for propaganda purposes, declaring the battle a great victory that erased the disgrace of the 1967 Six Day War defeat.
Hammam Al-Shatt - In October 1985, Israel Air Force warplanes attacked the PLO headquarters in Hammam Al-Shatt near Tunis, in retaliation for the PLO’s hijacking of a yacht and murder of 3 Israeli tourists off the coast of Cyprus a few days previously. The attack destroyed the PLO headquarters and, according to Israeli sources, killed approximately 60 PLO members, including leaders of the group responsible for the murders of the Israeli tourists and several of Arafat's bodyguards. Arafat himself was not present at the time of the attack.
PLO official: Israel murdered Arafat and now threatens Abbas
Source: Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, Jan. 20, 2014
“At the end of its evening session in Kuwait yesterday [Jan. 19, 2014], the United Arab Parliament called on the Arab countries to fulfill their financial commitments to support the Palestinian budget…
In a speech to the Parliament, [former] Chairman of the Palestinian National Council (i.e., the legislative body of the PLO) Salim Al-Za'anoun… addressed the Palestinian leadership’s position, which rejects the pressure and threats of withholding aid in the event that [it] fail to comply with the proposals it has received – [threats] which included harming the permanent rights of our people, as well as the declarations and accompanying open threats from high-ranking Israeli officials against the life of President Mahmoud Abbas, which were similar to those that preceded the murder of Martyr (Shahid) President Yasser Arafat.”

Official PA daily: Israel and the US conspired to get rid of Arafat, now they target Abbas
Source: Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, Jan. 18, 2014
Op-ed by Adel Abd Al-Rahman, regular ‎columnist for Al-Hayat Al-Jadida
‎“The crazy battle against President ‎Mahmoud Abbas is nothing new, but ‎operates according to a systematic plan ‎targeting all leaders who believe in peace. ‎This is because Israel is not interested in ‎the existence of rational Palestinian ‎leaders; rather, [Israel] wants demagogical ‎leaders it can continue to hide behind, to ‎enable it to shirk from the commitments of ‎the political settlement and to carry out its ‎plans for the destruction of the national ‎cause.‎
This is why, during the term of [former Israeli ‎Prime Minister Ariel] Sharon, it resorted to ‎getting rid of the leader and symbol Yasser ‎Arafat, using excuses lacking any ‎foundation. Unfortunately, the [George W.] ‎Bush administration conspired with the ‎Israeli government from the moment it ‎assumed power, and the coordination ‎between them merely strengthened after the ‎attack on the [Twin] Towers in September ‎‎2001. They loudly praised and lauded ‎President Mahmoud Abbas’ taking office in ‎‎2005, but when the head of the PLO held ‎fast to the national plan, the Arab Peace ‎Initiative, the legitimate international ‎decisions, the US Road Map and the ‎Annapolis decisions, they started laying ‘the ‎blame’ on him, saying he wasn’t ‘a partner ‎for peace’ and even described him as ‘more ‎dangerous’ than Arafat.”‎
PA officials accuse PM Sharon of murdering Arafat and other Palestinian leaders
Source: Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, Jan. 12, 2014
"The Palestinians hastened to welcome the news of Sharon's death. Deputy-Secretary of the Fatah Central Committee Jibril Rajoub told [news] agency [Agence] France-Presse: 'Sharon committed crimes against the Palestinian people and he is a murderer and responsible for the murder of deceased leader Yasser Arafat.' He added: 'We wished for him to be put on trial before the [International] Criminal Court in The Hague for his crimes against the Palestinian people and its leaders... Sharon established the official terror network against our people and he is the hero of Israel's state terrorism crimes in the Sabra and Shatila refugee camps in Lebanon in 1982.' In addition, he said that he [Ariel Sharon] 'is responsible for the murder of Arafat, of Secretary-General of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine [PFLP] Abu Ali Mustafa and of Hamas leader Sheikh Ahmed Yassin, as well as for the murder attempt on Khaled Mashaal, head of the Political Bureau of Hamas and on many Palestinian and Arab leaders.'
Fatah Central Committee member Sultan Abu Al-Einein, who was a PLO military commander in 1982, said: 'Sharon is a war criminal and a murderer and was directly involved in a number of massacres carried out against the Palestinians, beginning with the massacres at Deir Yassin and Qibya, continuing with the Sabra and Shatila massacre and ending with his final crime, which is the murder of Yasser Arafat... I wished for the day to come on which we would put Sharon on trial before an international court but now he is dead. I'm not sorry for his death and the death of murderers and criminals like him, whose crimes still live on today in our blood.'"

This Israeli occupation tried in the past and continues to try to injure the Palestinian [national] leadership in order to impose a [different] leadership that will agree to compromises.”

PA daily: Investigations reveal Arafat was poisoned and France covered it up
Source: Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, June 9, 2013
Headline: “Citing a French newspaper –Lebanese [newspaper] Al-Diyar: ‘Arafat was murdered by a chemical substance sprayed on his pillow’”
“The Lebanese Al-Diyar newspaper stated that the investigations in France [regarding Arafat’s death], as reported by a French newspaper, found that he was poisoned. [The newspaper also stated] that the French physicians determined the type [of the poison] and that it is a chemical substance. The newspaper added that French authorities refused to publish this matter so as to avoid a conflict with the Israelis. Therefore, former President of France, Jacques Chirac decided to leave the matter as one of France’s biggest secrets.
Military and security circles believe that a simple, colorless and odorless chemical substance was sprayed on the pillow on which Arafat slept and that this is the reason the poison entered his ear and skin pores.
The newspaper noted that France will not publish any findings but will leave the role of exposing the truth to the court and will only submit the blood test data and pictures, without providing information about the chemical substance, due to Israeli pressure.”
PLO senior official: Israel wants to “get rid” of Abbas, just as they did Arafat
Source: Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, June 3, 2013
Headline: “Erekat: ‘Lieberman calls to get rid of President Mahmoud Abbas and we have written proof of this’”
“Member of PLO Executive Committee, Saeb Erekat said: ‘Israel intends to get rid of President Mahmoud Abbas, as was the case with President Martyr (Shahid) Yasser Arafat, for sticking to his principles. This is proven by handwritten letters from Minister of Foreign Affairs, Avigdor Lieberman.
In an interview to Mawtini Radio, Erekat said: ‘Every Palestinian who adheres to East Jerusalem as the capital of the State of Palestine within the 1967 borders, to the return of the refugees and to the release of the prisoners – Israel does not see him as a partner, [believes that he] does not want peace and thinks that he must be gotten rid of by any means possible.’ He emphasized that there is concrete proof, among it, letters written in Lieberman’s handwriting.”
Columnist in official PA daily: Israel poisoned Arafat
Source: Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, Jan. 20, 2013
From an article by regular columnist Adel Abd Al-Rahman:
“The difficulty that emerges from the [common] policy of the various Israeli political forces, especially the right-wing forces, shows that the country of ethnic cleansing is descending towards fascism and towards triggering war in the region. [Israel] is substantiating its colonialist nature, it being no more than a new Crusade against the region, so that it is impossible for it (i.e., Israel) to co-exist and blend with the countries of the region and their peoples. Therefore, the Arab nations must… profoundly reassess the Arab peace initiative that Israel killed as soon as it was announced at the 2002 Beirut summit, when it [Israel] invaded the towns and villages of the [West] Bank, laid siege to leader Yasser Arafat and later assassinated him by poisoning."

Narrator: “Wondering about the nature of Arafat’s disease continued. Did he really fall ill, or had Israel managed to poison him?”
Nabil Shaath: “In my opinion he died of poisoning, and I have no doubt about this. The problem, of course, is how and who brought the poison, and how was it administered? Those are the questions we have.”

Boy: "I was very, very sad when Arafat died as a Shahid (Martyr), because he was a good man and he was a fighter. He did things through struggle, he participated in the struggle and did not make peace and so on. He wanted to fight."
Boy 2: "Yasser Arafat was a very, very important president. He stood up to all the enemies and was not afraid of anyone. And anyone who approached - he managed to stop him. All the Jews and the Israelis and the people who are against us, were afraid of him. When he died, he died of poisoning."

Boy 3: "Arafat used to say: "They want me dead, they want me prisoner, but I say to them: Martyr! Martyr! Martyr!"

"Erekat ( PA chief negotiator) described [Israeli Foreign Minister, Avigdor] Liberman's statements as 'impudent', and said that their aim was to incite to the murder and physical annihilation of President Abbas, as was the case with the late Martyr (Shahid) Yasser Arafat, who was murdered for no wrongdoing… Erekat declared again that the Palestinian Authority is not opposed to negotiations, and that it is prepared to return to the negotiating table on condition that settlement [activity] is stopped, that recognition is granted to a Palestinian state on the '67 borders, and that the prisoners are released."

Adel Abd Al-Rahman, columnist for official PA daily:
“It is certain that the Palestinian leadership… and all sectors of the nation will support exposing the truth about the criminal assassination of the leader and symbol, Arafat, that was perpetrated by the Israeli apartheid state and its agents.
The leadership will certainly provide whatever is needed to expose the truth to the [Palestinian] people, the Arabs, and the entire world, in order to lay responsibility on the Israeli organized-terror state and on the US for poisoning the eternal leader, Arafat. This is because Bush, Jr. and Sharon were partners in the assassination and the physical elimination of the former President.”

PA daily columnist: Israel poisoned Arafat
Source: Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, July 5, 2012
Op-ed by Wael Barghouti:
“Concerning the Martyr (Shahid) death of Yasser Arafat, it is important to discover the substance that they used to poison him, but even more important to discover who brought the substance into the [Ramallah] headquarters and put it in the leader’s personal belongings – but it won’t be at all hard to figure out who it was that supplied the substance, especially since the former head of the Israeli Security Services, Avi Dichter, was quick to deny yesterday that Israel was responsible for the assassination, when he told Israel Army Radio that Israeli ‘security’ had not touched Arafat’s food. As the old saying goes, “a stolen hat burns on the head of the thief (i.e., a thief cannot ignore his guilt, and will deny it.)”
PA daily columnist promotes Arafat libel: Former Israeli PM Sharon killed Arafat
Source: Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, June 5, 2012
Columnist for official PA daily Adel Abd Al-Rahman:
"There must be an acknowledgement, in a responsible manner – and the Palestinian leadership should be the first to admit – that the Oslo Accords, despite positive sparks here and there, were not accords that reflect the Palestinian aspiration… They were like a great minefield in which the leadership placed itself and the people. Proof of this is that since their declaration in 1993 and their signing on Sept. 13, 1993 at the White House, the Palestinian people has not taken a single step forward. On the contrary: in 2002, [then-Israeli Prime Minister] Sharon carried out a clear war crime when he re-occupied the West Bank, and killed the leader of the Palestinian people [Yasser Arafat], along with others."

"In a press release published yesterday, Fatah spokesman Ahmed Asaf denounced … the 'lies uttered by the Iranian [Ayatollah] Khamenei concerning the eternal Martyr (Shahid), Yasser Arafat, in the presence of Ismail Haniyeh.' The [Fatah] movement denounced Haniyeh's silence in the face of Khamenei's accusations against the leader of the Palestinian revolution and resistance, Yasser Arafat… The press release said: 'Khamenei and the one who refrained from saying the truth to his face, Ismail Haniyeh, know that the Israeli occupation assassinated the leader of the Palestinian people because of his insistence on our people's rights and his adherence to the legitimate resistance to occupation and settlement, until he died as a Martyr following a three-year siege on his presidential quarters.'…

     Al-Qidwa:
"There is a belief among all of us – among the Palestinian people and, I think, also among a large portion of the Arab nations – that Yasser Arafat died as a Shahid (Martyr) as a result of being poisoned by the Israeli side. That is a belief which, to tell the truth, is widely held among us, and we have said this many times. There are many proofs of this, starting with the Israeli actions against the late president, the decision of the Israeli government to bring down Yasser Arafat, and the reiteration of this decision on more than one occasion, the imposition of the bloody military siege on him for a long time, and so on. Also, there are the medical reports, and specifically the French medical report, which give clear indications in this direction, even if it does not provide us with decisive proof."

We raise it again because we have not yet received the clear-cut response to which our nation is entitled, and it is our obligation to obtain it.      "The special advisor to Yasser Arafat said Monday that he will soon release new information on the death of the late president. In an interview with Ma'an Radio, Bassam Abu Sharif said research conducted by British forensic experts had revealed that Arafat was poisoned with thallium. New information had also come to light, Abu Sharif said, adding that he would present it to an investigation committee. Abu Sharif said he had warned the president to remain alert for Israeli assassination attempts. In 2004, Arafat fell ill while besieged by the Israeli military in his Ramallah headquarters. He was flown to Paris for treatment and died at Percy Hospital on 11 November 2004. The Guardian newspaper quoted a medical report by French doctors identifying disseminated intravascular coagulation as the cause of the president's death. DIC is a secondary condition however, and the ultimate cause of death was never revealed. In the months preceding Arafat's death, Israeli officials had publicly contemplated assassinating the leader, fueling speculation that he was murdered."
Former advisor to Arafat: British toxicologist confirms that Arafat was poisoned
Source: Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, Jan. 10, 2011
Headline: “Produced from rare seaweed – Abu Sharif: President Arafat was assassinated using Thallium poison, a dangerous liquid with no color, smell or taste”
“Personal advisor to the late President Yasser Arafat, Basam Abu Sharif, has disclosed the results of an analysis (conducted over several months) concerning the type of poison used in the assassination of President Yasser Arafat. He said that these results were confirmed by the top criminal toxicologist in England.
He announced that the poison is called Thallium, and is a strange poison which is not in use and whose presence, effects and symptoms are difficult to detect. He added, ‘This dangerous poison is a colorless liquid, with no smell or taste. It is produced from rare seaweed, and may be put into water or food without detection, or injected with a needle into arteries, veins or human skin.’ He said that British and European toxicologists are not familiar with this poison, but the criminal toxicologist identified it. It is very effective, and no antidote can stop it five hours after it is injected or consumed. He emphasized that the expert who carried out the analysis had confirmed that this poison gradually destroys the body’s systems one after another (the liver, kidneys, lungs, and then brain) until it kills it.
He added that the time period needed to kill someone using this poison varies from person to person, depending on his build, his age, and the ability of his bodily systems to hold out. He noted that this period varies from two to eight months, giving criminals the opportunity to distance themselves from the scene of the crime.”

Nasser Al-Qidwa, head of the Institute for Commemoration of Arafat:

“We shall not forget Yasser Arafat’s death as a Shahid (Martyr), and we will not tire of insisting on the need to obtain the final piece of evidence of the assassination of our leader, of his poisoning. We were convinced of this from the outset, and we emphasized Israel’s responsibility in every way, but we want a clear proof, and we will obtain it. We promise this to you…
We promise you that we shall remain loyal to Yasser Arafat’s path of struggle and giving, until we achieve our national objectives, for the sake of which he died as a Shahid (Martyr). We uphold the memories of our Shahids and send greetings to our heroic prisoners in all the prisons of the occupation [Israel]. We ask for mercy upon the soul of Yasser Arafat, father of Palestinian nationalism, and our promise is that we shall continue to follow his path.”

Former PA Chief Justice of the Religious Court, Sheikh Tayseer Al-Tamimi: Arafat died of poisoning

“[Arafat] didn’t suffer from any of the diseases of old age, such as blood pressure, diabetes, or atherosclerosis. The President did not suffer from any illness. The acute deterioration of his death in this rapid manner proves that he died of poisoning, in addition to the severe thrombocytopenia [“thin blood”], which I saw with my own eyes at the hospital in Paris. Even after his death, this thin blood continued. This proves [corrects himself] the poison proves that he was poisoned; extremely thin blood. Poison is the sole factor that prevents the clotting of blood.”

France hid truth about Arafat's murder
Source: Official Palestinian Authority TV, Nov. 11, 2005

Bassam Abu Sharif, former adviser to Arafat:
"According to the confirmed information I have, former Israeli Minister of Defense Shaul Mofaz spoke to Sharon in the following manner: 'This is a chance to get rid of Yasser Arafat...' Sharon was silent for a moment, and then looked [at Mofaz and said], 'Only if it could be done in a way that the accusing finger wouldn’t be pointed at Israel.' These are the exact words.
When I found out about this, I wrote a letter to... Yasser Arafat, in which I warned him of their desire to kill him, probably by means of poison. The letter's date is clear, this is the letter [shows the letter]. The black [marking] is [the marking of] Yasser Arafat, the lines were drawn by Yasser Arafat. This is the date, June 5, 2002... The Israelis planned to kill him by poison, because of Sharon's promise to the Americans that [Arafat] will not be killed by bombing.
The source, and this is the first time I'm saying it... I saw him after the death and burial of Arafat. I asked him, and he replied that the French know about this. I think that the French hid this matter because France is a powerful country that isn't interested in igniting the area, and is interested in peace and the establishment of a country for the Palestinian nation, and reviving the topic would mean that every Palestinian would see it as his duty to avenge [the death of] Yasser Arafat."

"The President didn't suffer from any illness related to the known diseases of old age - blood pressure, diabetes, artery blockage. The President didn't suffer from any illness. The severe deterioration of his health, in this rapid manner, verifies that he was killed by poison [by Israel]. In addition to the severe thinning of his blood, which I saw with my own eyes in the hospital in Paris. Even after his death, this thinning of his blood continued."

"For breakfast, he would drink milk and cornflakes. I would prepare it for him during the morning hours... The President's food always had to be checked. The same thing with lunch... Arafat's poison is an army secret
Source: Official Palestinian Authority TV, Nov. 11, 2005

Ahmad Abdul Rahman, Arafat's Cabinet Secretary:
"This issue will continue to occupy every Palestinian's mind, how Yasser Arafat became a Shahid [Martyr for Allah]. The French medical report comprises 572 pages. [The report] doesn't state that Yasser Arafat was suffering from a specific disease from which his death resulted. It said that Yasser Arafat's death didn't result from one of the known diseases.
Therefore, conclude what this means. He was exposed to some kind of poison. The poison is an [Israeli] army secret and, as you know, no one knows the poison's secret, except for the person who prepared it."
