Libel: Israel to destroy Al-Aqsa Mosque
Libels
Since the Palestinian Authority was established it has systematically indoctrinated young and old to hate Israelis and Jews. Using media, education, and cultural structures that it controls, the PA has actively promoted religious hatred, demonization, conspiracy libels, etc. These are packaged to present Israelis and Jews as endangering Palestinians, Arabs, and all humanity. This ongoing campaign has so successfully instilled hatred that fighting, murder and even suicide terror against Israelis and Jews are seen by the majority of Palestinians as justified self-defense and as Allah’s will.

Throughout history bogus conspiracy accusations have been used to incite hatred, violence, and mass murder. The myriad conspiracy libels concerning Israel, Israelis and Jews are an integral part of the Palestinian Authority’s ongoing hate promotion. PA libels claim that Israel conspires to infect Palestinians with AIDS, spread drug addiction, conspired and successfully murdered Arafat, and more. The PA’s goal has been to inculcate hatred to the degree that fighting and murdering Jews and Israelis will be glorified as heroic self-defense.
Libel: Israel to destroy Al-Aqsa Mosque
Both Fatah and Hamas have generated and sustained religious hatred by disseminating the libel that Israel is attempting to destroy the Al-Aqsa Mosque. With close to 100% of Palestinians identifying themselves as believing Muslims, this claim is highly
inflammatory and is often combined with the call to “defend Al-Aqsa” from the Jews. The Al-Aqsa libel includes numerous fabrications: Israel was behind a mosque fire in 1969; Israel is currently digging under the mosque in order to topple it; Israel plans to replace it with a new Temple; Israel is preparing a missile attack on the mosque, and more. This libel has been actively promoted since 1998.

This Hamas TV cartoon video depicts demonic Jews digging under the mosque in an attempt to topple it.

The following are more examples of the Al-Aqsa libel:
Fatah spokesman condemns "continued [Israeli] invasions of the Al-Aqsa Mosque"
Source: Official PA daily, Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, Feb. 4, 2016
Headline: “Alayan: The operation (i.e., terror attack, 1 killed) in Jerusalem proves that the occupation cannot force a security solution with the Palestinians”
“Official Fatah Spokesman in occupied Jerusalem Raafat Alayan stated that the Israeli occupation’s violations against the Palestinian people, especially in occupied Jerusalem, can only lead to more resistance and more attacks by our people, who refuse the occupation in all its forms. Alayan noted that the Palestinian people cannot accept the Israeli violations in the holy city – the continued invasions of the Al-Aqsa Mosque, the demolition of homes, the arrests, the attacks against citizens and women, the distancing of Jerusalem residents from Jerusalem and the Al-Aqsa Mosque, and holding onto additional Martyrs’ bodies – and it cannot be that they will pass without natural responses."

Ahmad Abu Al-Rub, Ahmad Zakarneh and Muhammad Kmeil - Three Palestinian terrorists in their early 20's who shot and stabbed two Israeli police officers at the Damascus Gate in Jerusalem on Feb. 3, 2016. One of the officers, 19-year-old Hadar Cohen, was fatally wounded and died of her wounds. The second officer was seriously wounded. The terrorists, who attacked the policewomen after they were asked for identification, were carrying machine guns, knives, and pipe bombs, leading the police to suspect they were planning a mass attack against civilians. The terrorists were shot and killed at the scene by Israeli police.

PA Minister calls on Palestinians “to protect the holy sites and ward off the dangers”
Source: Official PA daily, Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, Jan. 18, 2016
Headline: "Al-Husseini met with a delegation"
"[PA] Minister of Jerusalem Affairs Adnan Al-Husseini met yesterday [Jan. 17, 2016] with a delegation of activists and [representatives of] institutions from the Qalandiya refugee camp… He reviewed the difficult situation affecting the occupied capital, and the arbitrary Israeli actions against the residents of Jerusalem and the Islamic and Christian holy sites, and especially against the Al-Aqsa Mosque. Al-Husseini called… to continue to protect the national enterprise, to join the masses, and to protect the holy sites and ward off the dangers hanging over them. Al-Husseini emphasized that the leadership… adheres to the sacred right of all refugees to return to the lands from which they were exiled… Muhammad Abu Habseh, father of Martyr (Shahid) Anan Abu Habseh (i.e., terrorist who killed one), said that Palestine's Martyrs live with their Lord. He noted that they would not have made their sacrifices had they not believed in the inalienable right of the Palestinian people to their homeland, and the need to defeat the occupation and purify the Christian and Islamic holy sites from their impurity, and especially the Al-Aqsa Mosque."

Issa Yassin Assaf and Anan Abu Habseh – 21-year-old and 20-year-old Palestinian terrorists who carried out a stabbing attack at the Jaffa Gate in the Old City of Jerusalem on Dec. 23, 2015. One Israeli was killed and another was wounded in the attack. Israeli police shot and killed the two terrorists and accidentally shot and killed an Israeli who was trying to stop the terrorists.
Fatah official: “The current Zionist strategy… is based on the effort to build the alleged Temple in place of the Al-Aqsa Mosque”
Source: Al-Dustour (Jordan), Dec. 16, 2015
"Fatah Central Committee Member Abbas Zaki said that Jordan is considered the present refuge for all oppressed, and emphasized that Jordan's stability is a real strength for Palestine. During the mass rally in the [Jordanian town] Zarka at the compound for professional unions, organized two nights ago [Dec. 14, 2015] by the popular committee for the support of the popular uprising [in Palestine], to mark the anniversary of the Palestinian Stone Intifada (i.e., Palestinian wave of violence and terror against Israel, 1987-1993), he added that the current Jerusalem Intifada is the fruit of the renewed willpower in Palestine, and is an undirected intifada, arising as a result of the inability to coexist with the Zionist occupation… He noted that the Zionist entity carries out organized terror against the Palestinian people, as they are assembling Zionist organizations, like the Zionist Irgun and Haganah (i.e., Jewish defense forces in the pre-state period) gangs, which carry out terror and intimidate. He stated that the right of return of the Palestinian people who was exiled from its land will be guaranteed if Jerusalem is returned, and added that the liberation of Jerusalem can blow up the current Zionist strategy, which is based on the effort to build the alleged Temple in place of the Al-Aqsa Mosque."
Fatah official: Palestinian terror is response to Israeli “crimes against our people and the sites holy to Islam and Christianity”
Source: Official PA daily, Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, Dec. 6, 2015
Headline: “Al-Aloul: The Palestinian struggle will not end until the defeat of the occupation”
“Fatah Central Committee member and Commissioner for Mobilization and Organization Mahmoud Al-Aloul said that the Palestinian struggle will not end as long as the Israeli attacks continue, since the peaceful uprising is in response to the Israeli occupation government’s crimes against our people and the sites holy to Islam and Christianity. Al-Aloul emphasized yesterday [Dec. 5, 2015] in an interview with Radio Mawtini that our people will not be silent about the occupation’s crimes, and will continue to resist until freedom and independence are achieved… Al-Aloul called to increase the pressure on the occupation by all types of popular resistance, whether by participation in activities in the field, or by boycotting its products, in addition to the other types in which every Palestinian citizen needs to participate, because the settlers must be made to live in a state of fear and worry.”
Israeli construction in Wailing Wall plaza is a “callous attack against the Islamic holy sites”
Source: Official PA daily, Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, Dec. 6, 2015
Headline: “The [PLO] Executive Committee: The building of Jewish facilities on the Al-Buraq plaza (i.e., the Western Wall) is a callous attack against the Islamic holy sites”
“The PLO Executive Committee warned against the grave dangers of the occupation municipality’s promise to build Jewish facilities on the Al-Buraq (i.e., Western Wall) plaza in Jerusalem. The committee emphasized that this is a callous attack against the Islamic holy sites, their uniqueness, and their position among the Palestinian people, and the Arab and Islamic peoples. During its meeting yesterday [Dec. 5, 2015] in the presidential compound in Ramallah, led by President Mahmoud Abbas, in the presence of Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah, the committee tasked the political committee with the establishment of a mechanism for the implementation of the Central Committee that were made last March, including the limitation of security and economic relations with the occupying authority, ‘Israel.’ The committee emphasized that in order to fight all the expressions of terror in the region and the world and defeat them, it is necessary to end the Israeli occupation and establish an independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital, in the June 4, 1967 borders. This is because the continuation of the occupation feeds all of the types of extremism and violence in the region and the world.”

Fatah official: “Since ’67 their [Israel’s] goal is to destroy Al-Aqsa Mosque”; it was “about to be destroyed” if not for Palestinians “who put fear in their hearts”
Source: Al-Mayadeen (Lebanon), Nov. 22, 2015
Al-Mayadeen TV program The Latest Edition
Fatah Central Committee Member Abbas Zaki: “I say that the general commander [of the intifada] is Allah, because one small boy of 13 carries out an act that a trained group cannot… we have a just cause… Therefore, since ’67 their goal is to destroy the Al-Aqsa Mosque. Today Israel is 58% religious and 23% ultra-orthodox, and they believe only in establishing the [Jewish] Temple. They were about to destroy Jerusalem, [the Al-Aqsa Mosque] was about to be destroyed. But, praise Allah, these young people put fear in their hearts. That ‘sweet’ [Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin] Netanyahu who says that ‘Jerusalem is an eternal, united capital’ has begun placing concrete barricades in Jerusalem, which isolates them [the Israelis] from the Arabs.”

Fatah delayed its 7th conference because it “object[s] to the division of the Al-Aqsa Mosque”
Source: Official PA daily, Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, Nov. 17, 2015
Headline: “Al-Zaarir: ‘The Central Committee has decided to postpone the 7th Conference and prioritize strengthening the popular uprising’”
“Deputy Secretary of the Fatah Revolutionary Council Fahmi Al-Za'arir announced the postponement of the movement’s 7th Conference… Al-Za’arir stated yesterday [Nov. 16, 2015] in an interview with Mawtini Radio: ‘The Fatah movement’s 7th Conference has been postponed, due to the movement’s concern for strengthening the foundations of the Jerusalem uprising and maintaining it.’ Al-Za'arir stressed the importance of holding a general conference of the movement, but prioritized the Palestinian people’s goals, stating: ‘Holding the 7th General Conference is important, but since the establishment of our movement, we prioritize the realization of the Palestinian people’s goals, to end the injustice done to it, and protect all its parts.’ Al-Za'arir added: ‘The movement saw fit to object to the division of the Al-Aqsa Mosque according to areas and times, and the settlers’ crimes, including killing, destruction, and arson, as well as to support national committees working to protect the Palestinian citizen,’ and he clarified that these issues delayed the preparations for the movement’s 7th conference. In addition, he stated that he is convinced that the Palestinian people will continue its struggle and conflict against the Israeli occupation, whatever the price may be, until freedom and independence are obtained.”

"Division according to areas and times" refers to a proposed law (May 2013) being reviewed in Israeli Parliament that would allow for both Jews and Muslims to pray on the Temple Mount. The law seeks to designate separate prayer times and areas of the site for Muslims and Jews.

Abbas denies again existence of Temple; says Jewish extremists plan to destroy Al-Aqsa mosque
Source: Official PA daily, Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, Nov. 16, 2015
Headline: “The president [Abbas]: Israel’s policy will ignite a religious war from which no one will be saved”
Abbas: ‘What we and the brothers in Jordan agreed on with Secretary John Kerry, is to keep the status quo in the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque as a place of Muslim worship, under the custody of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, and under the administration of the Islamic Waqf (i.e., Jerusalem Islamic Waqf Foundation). This has been the situation since the occupation of East Jerusalem by Israel in 1967. However, this started to change later on, after the ominous visit of [then Israeli Prime Minister Ariel] Sharon [to the Temple Mount] in 2000, under Israeli security forces’ protection, which led to the second Intifada, the Al-Aqsa Intifada (i.e., PA terror campaign, 2000-2005). Since 2000, Israeli governments have been trying to change the situation, and the Israeli police and army forces began entering the plaza of the Sanctuary (i.e., the Al-Aqsa Mosque) wearing uniforms and carrying weapons.  This is also the case with the extremist Jews, who wish, and declare so, to destroy the Al-Aqsa Mosque and build their alleged Temple in its place. This is while restrictions are imposed on Muslim worshippers, such as the prohibition [of entry] of people under the age of 50, and allocation of specific hours, during which only Jewish presence is allowed. This was a serious warning bell that the Israeli government wants to divide the Al-Aqsa Mosque according to areas and times...'"

Fatah officials at rally for dead terrorist accuse Israel of trying to “Judaize Jerusalem”, dividing the Al-Aqsa Mosque, and “desecrat[ing] the sites holy to Islam and Christianity”
Source: Ma’an, independent Palestinian news agency, Nov. 14, 2015
“The rally to eulogize Martyr (Shahid) Muhannad Halabi, which the Islamic Jihad movement organized in the Salim Afandi Hall in El-Bireh on Saturday afternoon [Nov. 14, 2015], turned into a national wedding, during which everyone agreed on the importance of the continuation of the Jerusalem Intifada, a natural response to the occupation’s aggression, settlement and Judaization campaigns...
PLO Executive Committee member and Deputy Secretary-General of the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine (DFLP) Qais Abd Al-Karim ‘Abu Laila’... expressed his pride in the cry [Halabi] uttered for the place from which Prophet Muhammad Ascended to Heaven [the Al-Aqsa Mosque] and as a sign of opposition to the humiliation of our mothers and sisters who are carrying out Ribat (i.e., religious conflict/war over land claimed to be Islamic) in the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque.
He said that this Intifada sent two clear messages, the first to the world, that the existing situation, in which the occupation continue to expand the settlement, to Judaize Jerusalem, and to desecrate the sites holy to Islam and Christianity, cannot continue, and that its continuation will lead to our resistance...
PLO Central Committee Member and Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine (DFLP) member Omar Shehadeh [said]: ‘The Intifada which Halabi detonated succeeded in preventing the division of the Al-Aqsa Mosque and spoke out against the ghost of Jerusalem’s Judaization.’ In addition, he emphasized in this context his belief that in the end our people will liberate its land, and the whole world, from the affliction of the Zionist project.”

In my name and the name of the Palestinian people, I, a son of Jerusalem, Bara Issa, Id. 40630297 dedicate myself to protecting the Al-Aqsa Mosque and defending our occupied land out of a pure intention and for the sake of Allah, and as an unequivocal response to our noble women who are screaming: ‘Islam, save us!’ and with all my mental and physical strength. PMW has been unable to verify this.
Abbas: Israel is trying to change the status quo at Al-Aqsa Mosque and trying to divide it
Source: Official PA daily, Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, Nov. 5, 2015
Headline: “The president: ‘Israel must implement the status quo that existed in the Al-Aqsa before 2000”
“[PA] President Mahmoud Abbas said that Israel must implement the status quo regarding the Al-Aqsa Mosque’s status and the [Jerusalem] Islamic Waqf [Foundation] as it was before 2000, and not what it is trying to force now. The president added at the beginning of the PLO Executive Committee meeting held yesterday [Nov. 4, 2015], Wednesday afternoon, in the presidential compound in Ramallah: ’We have emphasized more than once to the relevant bodies that what Israel is trying to implement at the moment at the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque is not accurate, and not right, and is a falsification of the facts.’ … [The committee] called for respect of the holiness of the site, including its entire plaza which sits on 144 dunam (approximately 35.6 acres -Ed.), as a site holy to Muslims, as the first direction of prayer and the third holiest [Islamic] sanctuary, which will not be divided in any way by areas and times, under any pretext… The committee discussed the situation of the district and city of Hebron and the crimes being carried out by the occupation forces and herds of settlers against the [Palestinian] citizens (this refers to the many Palestinian stabbings taking place in Hebron and Israel’s response to them –Ed.). The committee expressed approval of the widespread public participation in the activities of the blessed popular uprising, and emphasized that the great sacrifices the district made and is making will remain as a beacon which will light the path of liberation from the occupation and getting rid of the cancer of settlement and settlers, for the generations.”
Fatah spokesman: Terror in Jerusalem and Hebron stopped Israel from dividing the Al-Aqsa Mosque “by times and areas”

Headline: “Alayan demands that the merchants of Al-Wad Street and the Old City of Jerusalem be saved”
“[Official] Fatah Spokesman in occupied Jerusalem Raafat Alayan… called to the PLO, the Palestinian government, the private sector, and business people to formulate a campaign to aid the Old City and support the resolve of its residents and merchants. [Likewise he called] to go to it [the Old City] and increase the [Palestinian] presence in it. In addition, Alayan demanded that the Palestinian government hold a special meeting on the topic… in order to discuss all outstanding issues connected to Jerusalem… and formulate a local, Arab, and international plan to strengthen the legendary resolve of the residents of the holy city. Alayan emphasized that this legendary resolve succeeded in stopping the division of the Al-Aqsa Mosque by times and areas.”

"Division according to areas and times" refers to a proposed law (May 2013) being reviewed in Israeli Parliament that would allow for both Jews and Muslims to pray on the Temple Mount. The law seeks to designate separate prayer times and areas of the site for Muslims and Jews.

PA Secretary-General visits families of 2 stabbers; justifies actions of Palestinians “who rose up in order to protect Al-Aqsa”
Source: Official PA daily, Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, Nov. 5, 2015
Headline: “The government’s Secretary-General offered condolences for Katana’s Martyrs”
“Secretary-General of the [PA] government Ali Abu Diyak offered condolences in the name of the government for the Martyrs of the village of Katana in the Jerusalem district, Omar Al-Faqih and Muhammad Shamasneh (i.e., terrorist stabbers). Abu Diyak said in his speech in the Martyrs’ house of mourning that our people rose up in order to protect the Al-Asa Mosque, and to come out against the despicable crimes being carried out by the occupation army and gangs of settlers, and to stop the continuation of the occupation and settlement. He emphasized that our people will continue its struggle through legitimate means according to international law, and will pave the path to freedom, until the end of the occupation, the removal of the settlements, and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state, with Jerusalem as its capital, and the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque at its heart.”

Omar Muhammad Al-Faqih – 23-year-old Palestinian terrorist who stabbed an Israeli border policeman at the Qalandiya checkpoint on Oct. 17, 2015. PA daily cartoon: Netanyahu holds Dome of the Rock as captive
Source: Official PA daily, Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, Nov. 3, 2015

The cartoon shows Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu encircling the Dome of the Rock with his metal arms. The Dome of the Rock is surrounded by a wall and a checkpoint.
Text in cartoon: "The situation will remain as it is"
The text refers to Netanyahu's statement that he will maintain the status quo at the Al-Aqsa Mosque plaza. The cartoon hints that the status quo is not sincere and that Israel wants the Al-Aqsa Mosque plaza for itself. This echoes the PA libel that Israel plans to destroy the mosque in order to build the Temple.

PA daily: Netanyahu purposely “harming” Al-Aqsa Mosque to rile Palestinians
Source: Official PA daily, Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, Oct. 27, 2015
Op-ed by Hafez Al-Barghouti, regular columnist for the official PA daily
Headline: “The ethnic cleansing scheme”
“From the very beginning, we have been pointing out that what is being done in Jerusalem in order to cause its [Palestinian] residents to revolt against the occupation is a clear, [Israeli] right-wing scheme which is part of the city’s Judaization, the tightened control over the holy places and the implementation of systematic ethnic cleansing. We stated that [Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin] Netanyahu knows what is takes to provoke the [Palestinian] residents of Jerusalem: harming the Al-Aqsa Mosque. This happened during his first term in 1996, when he opened the tunnel (i.e., authorized the creation of an exit from the Western Wall tunnel) underneath the mosque, and [the riots that followed] were called the Tunnel Intifada. It also happened when [then Israeli Prime Minister Ariel] Sharon held his provocative visit to the Al-Aqsa Mosque, which led, two days later, to a massacre at the Al-Aqsa Mosque, in which dozens of Martyrs (Shahids) were killed, and to the outbreak of the [second] Intifada…
Netanyahu uses all kinds of weapons and laws of oppression, and recruits the machine of lies and accusations against our defenseless people. He fabricates stabbing operations…”
