Libel: Israel to destroy Al-Aqsa Mosque
Libels
Since the Palestinian Authority was established it has systematically indoctrinated young and old to hate Israelis and Jews. Using media, education, and cultural structures that it controls, the PA has actively promoted religious hatred, demonization, conspiracy libels, etc. These are packaged to present Israelis and Jews as endangering Palestinians, Arabs, and all humanity. This ongoing campaign has so successfully instilled hatred that fighting, murder and even suicide terror against Israelis and Jews are seen by the majority of Palestinians as justified self-defense and as Allah’s will.

Throughout history bogus conspiracy accusations have been used to incite hatred, violence, and mass murder. The myriad conspiracy libels concerning Israel, Israelis and Jews are an integral part of the Palestinian Authority’s ongoing hate promotion. PA libels claim that Israel conspires to infect Palestinians with AIDS, spread drug addiction, conspired and successfully murdered Arafat, and more. The PA’s goal has been to inculcate hatred to the degree that fighting and murdering Jews and Israelis will be glorified as heroic self-defense.
Libel: Israel to destroy Al-Aqsa Mosque
Both Fatah and Hamas have generated and sustained religious hatred by disseminating the libel that Israel is attempting to destroy the Al-Aqsa Mosque. With close to 100% of Palestinians identifying themselves as believing Muslims, this claim is highly
inflammatory and is often combined with the call to “defend Al-Aqsa” from the Jews. The Al-Aqsa libel includes numerous fabrications: Israel was behind a mosque fire in 1969; Israel is currently digging under the mosque in order to topple it; Israel plans to replace it with a new Temple; Israel is preparing a missile attack on the mosque, and more. This libel has been actively promoted since 1998.

This Hamas TV cartoon video depicts demonic Jews digging under the mosque in an attempt to topple it.

The following are more examples of the Al-Aqsa libel:
PA Libel: "Jews of high position" planned Al-Aqsa Mosque ‎arson in in 1969‎
Source: Official Palestinian Authority TV, Aug. 21, 2015

Documentary narrator: "From investigations conducted by the Islamic Council it ‎became clear that there was more than one perpetrator [of the Al-Aqsa Mosque arson ‎in 1969] and that the fire was planned by senior Jews of high position, especially since ‎the roof can only be reached from a wooden spiral staircase located outside the Al-‎Aqsa building. This proves that careful, premeditated measures were taken to ‎completely destroy the Al-Aqsa Mosque. The proof is that the occupation authorities ‎were slow to extinguish [the fire] and that the water supply to the Sanctuary (i.e., the ‎Temple Mount) had been cut off during those hours." ‎

Note: The fire in the Al-Aqsa Mosque in 1969 was started by a deranged Australian ‎Christian, but the Palestinian Authority for years has attributed it to Israel.‎
The documentary was also broadcast on PA Live TV on the same date in 2013, at an ‎event under the auspices of PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas.

Fatah official: Israel is “feverishly” attempting to “Judaize and take over the Al-Aqsa Mosque and the holy places of Islam and Christianity”
Source: Official PA daily, Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, July 25, 2015
Headline: “Zakki briefed the [Tunisian] Afek Tounes party Secretary General on the Palestinian developments”
“Fatah Central Committee member and Commissioner of Arab Relations Abbas Zaki briefed the Afek Tounes Party Secretary General Fawzy Abd Al-Rahman yesterday, Friday [July 24, 2015], about the developments in the Palestinian arena, especially the feverish [Israeli] attempts to Judaize and take over the Al-Aqsa Mosque and the holy places of Islam and Christianity.”
A day after Fatah calls on Palestinians to visit Al-Aqsa Mosque to prevent Jews visiting the site, riots break out
Source: Official PA daily, Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, July 25, 2015
In anticipation of Jews visiting the Temple Mount on Tisha B’Av (Jewish day of mourning commemorating the Temple’s destruction), Fatah called on Palestinians to go to Al-Aqsa Mosque to prevent them from visiting the site. On the day of Tisha B’Av, Palestinian youth who had collected stones, planks, and Molotov cocktails clashed with Israel police forces.
The following is the call by Fatah official Adnan Gheith to go to the Al-Aqsa Mosque to prevent Jewish visits to the site:

Headline: “A vigil at the Al-Aqsa [Mosque] to condemn the offense to the Messenger [Muhammad]”
“Fatah’s Jerusalem Branch Secretary Adnan Gheith called to visit the Al-Aqsa Mosque in order to thwart the calls of the settlers and the alleged Temple organizations to invade it this Sunday (i.e., Tisha B’Av), close it to Muslims, and allow them [the settlers] to hold Talmudic ceremonies (i.e., Jewish prayers) in its courtyards, in order to commemorate the anniversary of the alleged ‘Temple destruction’ (i.e., Tisha B’Av).”

Notes:
"Alleged Temple organizations" refer to religious Jewish movements including the Temple Mount Heritage Foundation, The Initiative for Jewish Freedom on the Temple Mount and Students for the Temple Mount, which spread awareness of the importance of the Temple Mount in Judaism and encourage people to visit the site.

The PA considers any presence of Jews on the Temple Mount an "invasion." However, all visitors are subject to rigorous checks by Israeli security personnel before being granted access to the Temple Mount.

Tisha B’Av is a Jewish day of mourning, commemorating the destruction of the First and Second Temples in Jerusalem (586 BCE and 70 CE) and the forced exile of all Jews from the land of Israel.
PA Mufti and Islamic council warn: Israel's "continued offensive against the Al-Aqsa Mosque warns of a religious war"
Source: Official PA daily, Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, July 24, 2015
“The [Palestinian] Supreme Fatwa Council condemned the escalation of Israeli calls to invade the Al-Aqsa Mosque and hold Talmudic ceremonies (i.e., Jewish prayers) in its pure courtyards. This statement was made during a meeting of the council, led by Grand Mufti of Jerusalem and the Palestinian Territories and Head of the Supreme Fatwa Council Sheikh Muhammad Hussein, in response to the calls of the extremist, so-called ‘Association of the alleged Temple organizations’ to its supporters to carry out group invasions this Sunday [July 26, 2015], the anniversary of the so-called ‘destruction of the Temple’ (i.e., Tisha B’Av ). The council regarded this call as a dangerous escalation, and an official declaration of the Al-Aqsa Mosque’s inauguration as a Jewish synagogue, as well as a pilgrimage site for Jews to hold their Talmudic ceremonies (i.e., Jewish prayers) at the expense of its Islamic character, and clarified that the continued offensive against the Al-Aqsa Mosque warns of a religious war.  In addition, it stressed that the Israeli plan to Judaize Jerusalem and the Al-Aqsa [Mosque] or to lay a hand on them is a delusion , as the only ones entitled to the mosque, its courtyards, corridors, and every part of it, are the Muslims... The council urged the citizens and Muslims in the world who can reach the Al-Aqsa [Mosque], to increase their presence in it, in order to assist it to stand firm against the plots against it, and stressed that our people will hold onto their mosque until Allah inherits the land and everything on it, whatever the required sacrifices may be.”

PLO calls on Muslims to “thwart [Jewish] attempts to enter the Al-Aqsa [Mosque’s] courtyards, defile them, and conduct their Talmudic ceremonies (i.e., Jewish prayers) there”
Source: Official PA daily, Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, July 22, 2015
Headline: “Jewish calls for widespread invasions of the Al-Aqsa [Mosque], and Palestinian calls to go out against them”
“The so-called ‘association of alleged Temple organizations’ called to invade the Al-Aqsa Mosque, in order to celebrate its reopening to Jews by the occupation authorities… The PLO Department for Jerusalem Affairs warned of the dangers and repercussions of these racist calls, which are liable to incite religious conflict in the region, and to drag it [the region] into a whirlwind of violence and extremism… The [PLO] Department for Jerusalem Affairs called for increased presence and Ribat (religious conflict/war over land claimed to be Islamic) in the Al-Aqsa [Mosque], and to thwart the settlers and extreme Jews’ attempts to enter the Al-Aqsa [Mosque’s] courtyards, defile them, and conduct their Talmudic ceremonies (i.e., Jewish prayers) there."

Notes: "Alleged Temple organizations" refer to religious Jewish movements including the Temple Mount Heritage Foundation, The Initiative for Jewish Freedom on the Temple Mount and Students for the Temple Mount, which spread awareness of the importance of the Temple Mount in Judaism and encourage people to visit the site. On July 14, 2015, several of these organizations held a planned demonstration in Jerusalem's Old City. The demonstration was allowed by the Israeli Supreme Court and protested the discrimination against Jews on the Temple Mount. Jews are not permitted to pray on the Temple Mount and have very limited access to the holy site.
PA Mufti and PA Minister: Israel trying to “invade the Al-Aqsa Mosque” and “take it over”
Source: WAFA, official PA news agency, July 21, 2015
“The [PA] Minister of Religious Affairs, Sheikh Yusuf Ida’is, and [PA] Mufti of Jerusalem and the Palestinian Territories Sheikh Muhammad Hussein, warned against the danger of what has been reported in the media regarding the intentions of those called the alleged Temple organizations to more fervently invade the Al-Aqsa Mosque tomorrow [July 22, 2015], Wednesday, another act in the targeting of the Al-Aqsa Mosque’s independence, and the Muslims’ absolute sovereignty over it... The two emphasized that the escalating dangerous Israeli plots against Jerusalem, which are seen in attempts to interfere in the affairs of the Jerusalem Noble Sanctuary (i.e., the Temple Mount), in increasing excavations under the Al-Aqsa Mosque, under the pretext of searching for alleged antiquities, and in intensive settlement plans in Jerusalem, are an attempt to change the status quo in the Jerusalem Noble Sanctuary. This is in addition to the continuing Judaization of Jerusalem, its full isolation from its geographical surroundings, and the construction of the racist separation fence… Likewise, the two called on the Palestinian people, wherever they may be, to increase their presence in the Al-Aqsa Mosque, in order to foil all the Israeli plots striving to take it over.”

PA official: Israel has plans to "destroy the Al-Aqsa Mosque and build the alleged Temple on its ruins."
Source: Wattan TV (Palestinian private channel), July 21, 2015
Headline: “Hanna Issa calls for Ribat at the Al-Aqsa [Mosque] on the ‘anniversary of the destruction of the Temple’”
“Secretary-General of the [Palestinian Authority’s] Islamic-Christian Council for Jerusalem and the Holy Places, Dr. Hanna Issa, stated that Ribat (i.e., religious conflict/war over land claimed to be Islamic) at the Al-Aqsa Mosque and presence in it, are not limited to the month of Ramadan alone, and called on Palestinians to carry out Ribat in the coming days in order to thwart the settlers’ plots to invade [the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound]… Issa noted the words of the extremist Yehuda Glick regarding his plans and efforts regarding the Al-Aqsa Mosque: ‘The Jerusalem Noble Sanctuary (i.e., the Temple Mount) is a place of worship for all the religions, where all pray to God. Because the Dome of the Rock cannot hold all of them, we need a larger building,” [and Issa said] this is a clear, allusion to the plans striving to destroy the Al-Aqsa Mosque and build the alleged Temple on its ruins.”

Note: The PA considers any presence of Jews on the Temple Mount an "invasion." However, all visitors are subject to rigorous checks by Israeli security personnel before being granted access to the Temple Mount.

PMW has been unable to verify the statements attributed to Rabbi Yehuda Glick.
PA Mufti calls on Islamic world to defend the Al-Aqsa Mosque from “continuing attacks” and “desecration,” warns of “impending religious war
Source: Al-Ayyam, July 14, 2015
This article was published by WAFA (the official Palestinian news agency) on July 13, 2015, and on Al-Ayyam on July 14, 2015.
Headline
: “PA Mufti Sheikh Muhammad Hussein calls to increase visits to Al-Aqsa”
“PA Grand Mufti of Jerusalem and the Palestinian Territories and preacher at the Al-Aqsa Mosque, Sheikh Muhammad Hussein called to increase visits to the Al-Aqsa Mosque, in order to thwart the escalating Israeli calls to invade the Al-Aqsa Mosque [compound ] and hold Talmudic ceremonies (i.e., Jewish prayers) in its pure courtyards. This was after the extremist Temple organizations called on their supporters to organize a Jewish demonstration in front of the Golden Gate (in Jerusalem’s old city walls –Ed.) this Tuesday [July 14, 2015], the 27th of Ramadan, in order to demand that the Al-Aqsa Mosque [compound] be closed to all Muslims during the anniversary of the so-called ‘destruction of the Temple.’ (i.e.,Tisha B’Av – see note). The Mufti considered this call a dangerous escalation, and explained that the continuing attack against the Al-Aqsa Mosque, its desecration, and the encouragement of the extremists to visit it, indicate an impending religious war. In addition, he stated that the calls and the aggressive plans inciting to desecrate the Al-Aqsa Mosque and its courtyards and to harm it have increased during the month of Ramadan. The Mufti called on worshippers from Jerusalem and the 1948 territories (i.e., Israel) and anyone who is able to reach the Al-Aqsa Mosque from across the homeland, to make every effort to visit it and strengthen their presence in it, in order to protect it from the ongoing and increasing attacks against it."

PA Minister of Religious Affairs: Israel is carrying out “evil plan to destroy the Al-Aqsa Mosque and establish the alleged Temple”
Source: Official Palestinian Authority TV, July 8, 2015

Official PA TV program
Palestine this Morning hosted PA Minister of Religious Affairs Yusuf Ida’is.
Topic: The restrictions Israel places on the entry of Muslims from the West Bank into Jerusalem
PA Minister of Religious Affairs, Sheikh Yusuf Ida'is: ”Indeed, the Israeli establishment insists on carrying out its evil plan to destroy the Al-Aqsa Mosque and establish the alleged Temple. This is [done] by establishing facts on the ground, for the Muslims, so they will accept the inevitability of the situation. Every month there are invasions. Last month, there were more than 184 invasions into places of worship, and especially into the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque [plaza] (i.e., the Temple Mount), as the Israeli establishment allows the herds of settlers to enter the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque [plaza] daily - which provokes the feelings of Muslims - under protection of the Israeli occupation police.”

PA Ministry: Israel defiled Jerusalem, is trying to destroy it and build “an alleged Temple”
Source: Official PA daily, Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, June 30, 2015
Article in response to the distribution of leaflets that threaten the Christians in Jerusalem signed in the name of ISIS.
Headline: “The [PA] Ministry of Information: The sectarian strife is the satanic plant of the occupation”
“The [PA] Ministry of Information stated that the desperate, dubious attempts to sow the seeds of sectarian strife in occupied Jerusalem - through leaflets which the occupation is behind and attacks carried out by a few incited youths against churches and residential houses in the holy city - are carried out by unenlightened people who accuse others of heresy, deviate from the teachings of Islam and make every effort to cause a rift in the national line, blacken it and tarnish it with hatred...
The Ministry stated that it is more appropriate that those who trade in the name of Jerusalem, and who appoint themselves as Allah’s shadow on the face of the earth, will direct all their power towards the occupation that has defiled the Muslims’ first direction of prayer (i.e., Jerusalem) for 48 years, treats Allah’s servants within it as it pleases, harms it every single day, and strives to destroy it and change it into an alleged Temple."

“Jews actually intend to conquer the world… [by] military conquest” says Antisemitic teacher at the Al-Aqsa Mosque
Source: Al-Msjed Al-Aqsa YouTube channel, June 9, 2015

Sheikh Khaled Al-Mughrabi: “The Jews, or the Children of Israel, actually intend to conquer the world, and they began with the holy land. What did they think? ‘If we inherit and succeed in conquering the holy land, it will be a successful start to the conquest of the whole planet .’ Whoever reads The Protocols of the Elders of Zion will see that the final goal of the Children of Israel is to conquer the world. I don’t mean economic or cultural conquest, or of the media, or any other type of conquest. I mean military conquest. In other words, the final goal of the Children of Zion is the military conquest of the whole world. Where does their conquest begin? From the Al-Aqsa Mosque.”

PA Mufti: Israel’s goal is to “eradicate… [Jerusalem’s] Arab and Islamic identity" by "spreading [the idea of] the alleged Temple and biblical fantasies”
Source: Official PA daily, Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, June 2, 2015
Headline: “Seventeen million dollars and six new laws for the Judaization of Jerusalem, and a call to take the planners of the settlement [enterprise] to international courts”
“The ‘Hana Al-Quds’ network for social communication held a press conference yesterday, Monday [June 1, 2015], at the Institute for Modern Media in Ramallah, regarding the continuous invasions of the Al-Aqsa Mosque and their implications… [Mufti of Jerusalem and the Palestinian Territories] Sheikh [Muhammad] Hussein emphasized that non-Muslims have no right to the Al-Aqsa Mosque, and it is the obligation of every Muslim and Christian who has holy places in Jerusalem to wake up and protect them because of the major changes the occupation is making to the character of the holy city. Likewise, he emphasized that Al-Aqsa is an Islamic mosque, with all it includes, and that what the occupation is carrying out is a culture war, whose goal is to eradicate the character of the holy city and its Arab and Islamic identity by spreading [the idea of] the alleged Temple and biblical fantasies.”

PA daily op-ed: Israel "daily defile[s] the Al-Aqsa Mosque"
Source: Official PA daily, Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, May 28, 2015
Op-ed by Hafez Al-Barghouti, regular columnist for Al-Hayat Al-Jadida
Headline: “The Satan in Jerusalem”
“I have learned from several sources that there are organized attacks against the Muslim and Abyssinian brothers in the Old City of Jerusalem, as they exit the Al-Aqsa Mosque. This is because some of those who interpret religion according to their whims and partisan interests undertake enlisting people they have mislead against the Christian brothers, and all this without mentioning the heavy military boot of the occupation and its settlers, who daily defile the Al-Aqsa Mosque. This is not about individual cases, but an action carried out by a group receiving payment, as the attack against the Jordanian guests in the Al-Aqsa Mosque was planned in advance, since it was announced in advance that Supreme Shariah Judge of Jordan Sheikh Ahmad Halil, and Jordanian Minister of Religious Affairs Hayel Daoud, would visit the Al-Aqsa Mosque for Friday prayers. Likewise, Arab and Muslim visitors have often been exposed to this type of harassment for partisan and political reasons, as if there are “Qaradawians” (i.e., those who share Egyptian Cleric Yusuf Qaradawi’s opinion against visiting Jerusalem, as it could lead to ’normalization’ with Israel) and their type, inciting to leave the Al-Aqsa Mosque without Muslim visitors. Why, for instance, was a Turkish minister well received? Is it because his relations with Hamas and the Liberation Party are good, as he intervened for the good of the Liberation Party in Gaza so it would mark the anniversary of the fall of the Ottoman caliphate there? Those who attack the Palestinian social fabric and the perpetual and tolerant co-existence between the religions are trying to drag us into the eye of the cursed storm that invades this area, destroys, demolishes, and kills, but does not take notice of the occupation.”
Fatah official: Israel intends to destroy Al-Aqsa Mosque
Source: Al-Asima, bi-weekly distributed with official PA daily, May 27, 2015
Headline: “The black Nakba (“the catastrophe,” the Palestinian term for the establishment of the State of Israel) ”
From an article by Fatah Central Committee Member Abbas Zaki
“Anyone who is interested in the liberation of Palestine and strives for a life worthy of the people of sacrifice, must cease the policy of indifference towards the consistent aggressive strategy of the Israelis, which includes the destruction of the Al-Aqsa [Mosque], the division of what is already divided and the cooperation with collaborators and cowards in the Middle East under false pretexts. This is in order to exhaust the Arab will power, to destroy the [Arab] nation’s capabilities from the [Atlantic] Ocean to the [Persian] Gulf with the intention of drawing the map of Zionist rule, with its main state from the Nile to the Euphrates, and to turn the Zionist dream into reality.”
Arab League official claims Naftali Bennett called to build Temple in place of Al-Aqsa Mosque
Source: Official PA daily, Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, May 26, 2015
Headline: “Jerusalem is in a critical phase”
“[Arab League’s] Deputy Secretary General for Palestinian and Arab Occupied Land Affairs Muhammad Sabih said: ‘The city of Jerusalem is the mother of Islamic causes and it is in great danger, for tunnels are being dug around the clock, and we may be in the critical stage in everything that concerns Jerusalem.’
In a statement to WAFA, responding to the calls of the alleged Temple organizations [to Jews] ‘to make a pilgrimage,’ in their words, and to carry out a mass invasion of the Al-Aqsa Mosque yesterday and the day before on the occasion of the Hebrew holidays, Sabih said: ‘The racist right-wing Israeli government is delusional in believing that it can build the Temple within the next two years. The Jewish Home [Party] Chairman [Naftali] Bennett confirmed it to the Jews when he said: ‘In the next stage you will pray in the Temple, in the place of the Al-Aqsa [Mosque].’”

Note: Israeli Minister of Education Naftali Bennett did not mention the Al-Asqa Mosque in his speech. His exact words were: “Soon Jews will also be able to enter and pray at the Temple Mount, because the Temple Mount is ours.” [Ynet, May 17, 2015]
