PA PM: Israel is escalating situation at Al-Aqsa Mosque, will lead to stronger Palestinian reaction

Headline: "Hamdallah talks on the phone with his Jordanian counterpart about the latest developments in Jerusalem"

"[PA] Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah and Jordanian Prime Minister Hani Al-Mulki talked yesterday [July 17, 2017] on the phone about the latest developments in Jerusalem and about the dangerous Israeli escalation against the Al-Aqsa Mosque (refers to the placement of metal detectors at the entrances to the Temple Mount following a terror attack there on July 14, 2017, in which 2 Israelis were murdered; see note below –Ed.)…
Hamdallah emphasized his absolute opposition to Israel's security excuses, whose purpose is to justify its steps of escalation at the Al-Aqsa Mosque. He warned against the Israeli plans to change the status quo in Jerusalem, to harm the religious and historical status of the Al-Aqsa Mosque, and to impose more limitations on the freedom of worship there.
He also emphasized that the Israeli military escalation, especially in Jerusalem, will lead to a deterioration of the security situation and an intensification of the reactions."
