Libel: Israel to destroy Al-Aqsa Mosque
Libels
Since the Palestinian Authority was established it has systematically indoctrinated young and old to hate Israelis and Jews. Using media, education, and cultural structures that it controls, the PA has actively promoted religious hatred, demonization, conspiracy libels, etc. These are packaged to present Israelis and Jews as endangering Palestinians, Arabs, and all humanity. This ongoing campaign has so successfully instilled hatred that fighting, murder and even suicide terror against Israelis and Jews are seen by the majority of Palestinians as justified self-defense and as Allah’s will.

Throughout history bogus conspiracy accusations have been used to incite hatred, violence, and mass murder. The myriad conspiracy libels concerning Israel, Israelis and Jews are an integral part of the Palestinian Authority’s ongoing hate promotion. PA libels claim that Israel conspires to infect Palestinians with AIDS, spread drug addiction, conspired and successfully murdered Arafat, and more. The PA’s goal has been to inculcate hatred to the degree that fighting and murdering Jews and Israelis will be glorified as heroic self-defense.
Libel: Israel to destroy Al-Aqsa Mosque
Both Fatah and Hamas have generated and sustained religious hatred by disseminating the libel that Israel is attempting to destroy the Al-Aqsa Mosque. With close to 100% of Palestinians identifying themselves as believing Muslims, this claim is highly
inflammatory and is often combined with the call to “defend Al-Aqsa” from the Jews. The Al-Aqsa libel includes numerous fabrications: Israel was behind a mosque fire in 1969; Israel is currently digging under the mosque in order to topple it; Israel plans to replace it with a new Temple; Israel is preparing a missile attack on the mosque, and more. This libel has been actively promoted since 1998.

This Hamas TV cartoon video depicts demonic Jews digging under the mosque in an attempt to topple it.

The following are more examples of the Al-Aqsa libel:

“[PA] Minister of Religious Affairs Yusuf Ida’is said that the fact that the occupation government allowed Israeli parliament members and settler extremists to invade the Al-Aqsa Mosque constitutes a large step of escalation…
He explained that this decision was made while the Al-Aqsa Mosque is being desecrated daily… and the attacks against the peaceful worshippers within it continue, and while the serious Israeli attempts to divide it according to times and areas are continuing, in preparation for its destruction and the building of the alleged Temple in its place… The minister of religious affairs explained that every day the Al-Aqsa Mosque is attacked and desecrated, the archeological artifacts within it are stolen, and excavations damage its foundations…
He added that the Israeli government’s decision to allow Israeli Parliament members to invade the Al-Aqsa Mosque today [Aug. 29, 2017] heralds disastrous consequences, and indicates that the occupation is striving to create tension. PA Foreign Ministry: Israel is carrying out a "systematic attack" against the Al-Aqsa Mosque, "in order to destroy it, burn it, harm it, and threaten its existence by excavating under its foundations"

“The [PA] Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates said that the generations of governments of Israel have been fully and directly responsible for the attacks on the holy sites in occupied Jerusalem. PA Libel: "Jews of high position" planned Al-Aqsa Mosque ‎arson in in 1969‎
Source: Official Palestinian Authority TV, Aug. 21, 2017

Documentary narrator:
"From investigations conducted by the Islamic Council it ‎became clear that there was more than one perpetrator [of the Al-Aqsa Mosque arson ‎in 1969] and that the fire was planned by senior Jews of high position, especially since ‎the roof can only be reached from a wooden spiral staircase located outside the Al-‎Aqsa building. This proves that careful, premeditated measures were taken to ‎completely destroy the Al-Aqsa Mosque. The proof is that the occupation authorities ‎were slow to extinguish [the fire] and that the water supply to the Sanctuary (i.e., the ‎Temple Mount) had been cut off during those hours." ‎

PA Council official: Israel’s goal is ”Judaization… destroying the Al-Aqsa Mosque and building the alleged Temple on its ruins”
Source: Amad, independent Palestinian news website, Aug. 21, 2017
“The [PA] Islamic-Christian Council for Jerusalem and the Holy Places today, Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2017 – which is the 48th anniversary of the arson of the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque – said that the crimes, daily invasions, and Judaization actions that the occupation authorities are carrying out by establishing outposts, excavating tunnels, and preventing worshippers [from entering the Al-Aqsa Mosque] are a continuation of the great crime of the arson of the blessed mosque…
Secretary-General of the [PA Islamic-Christian] Council [for Jerusalem and the Holy Places and Fatah Revolutionary Council member] Dr. Hanna Issa said: ‘The arson of the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque was the start of a comprehensive and dangerous plan to Judaize the mosque and completely take control of it.'... He added: ‘The crime against the Al-Aqsa Mosque and the rest of the sites that are holy to Islam and Christianity in occupied Jerusalem is being continued by changing their names and details. This is as the occupation authorities and extremists still work with all of their energy to implement the goal that they have striven for – destroying the Al-Aqsa Mosque and building the alleged Temple on its ruins.’”

PA daily falsely claims that 1969 Al-Aqsa Mosque arsonist was Jewish, Israel interfered with fighting the fire
Source: Official PA daily, Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, Aug. 21, 2017
Headline: “The 48th anniversary of the Al-Aqsa Mosque arson, and the crime continues”
“Today is the 48th anniversary of the arson of the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque. On Aug. 21, 1969, Jewish extremist Michael Denis Rohan (sic., Rohan was a mentally ill Christian) lit a fire in the eastern wing of the mosque, which spread to all of its contents… The [Arab] civilians succeeded in saving what was left of the Al-Aqsa Mosque before the fire could overcome it, after firefighting trucks came quickly from the cities of Hebron, Bethlehem, and different regions of the West Bank and the Arab towns in order to save the Al-Aqsa Mosque . This is despite the occupation authorities’ attempts to prevent them from doing this, and the fact that they stopped the water to the area around the mosque precisely on the day of the arson (sic., there is no evidence for these claims). The occupation [Jerusalem] Municipality’s firefighting trucks were also intentionally late in arriving so as not to participate in putting out the fire (sic., Israeli firefighters arrived within minutes but rioting Muslims interfered with their work and broke the only fire hydrant at the site). After Israel caught the perpetrator, an Australian citizen who came to Palestine as a tourist, it used the excuse that he was ‘insane’ in order to transport him to the place of his birth, Australia, after he was in a psychiatric hospital next to Acre for a short period.”

Unusual statement by PA Mufti, contrary to usual demonization of Israel and Jews, the Mufti announced Israel had not stolen anything from the Al-Aqsa Mosque
Source: Donia Al-Watan (independent Palestinian news agency), Aug. 20, 2017
Headline: "The [PA] Mufti of Jerusalem: There are no signs of theft of the contents of the Al-Aqsa Mosque"
"[PA] Mufti of Jerusalem and the Palestinian Territories Muhammad Hussein emphasized that a damage assessment committees’ check of the Al-Aqsa Mosque after the attack of the settlers and occupation forces during recent events (i.e., Israeli security measures following a fatal terror attack; see note below) did not find signs of theft or destruction of the mosque's property."

The mention of “recent events” refers to Israeli security measures at the Temple Mount, including metal detectors at the entrances, following an attack there on July 14, 2017, in which 2 Israeli border police officers were murdered by 3 Israeli Arab terrorists. On July 24, 2017, Israel decided to remove the metal detectors and security cameras it had placed at the site. The PA continued to demand that all measures including inspections at the entrances be removed, and Palestinians continued to riot. On July 27, 2017, PA religious leaders declared that all Israeli measures had been removed.
PA Ministry of Information: The 1969 Al-Aqsa Mosque arson proves that the "targeting of the [holy] sites... is a calculated terrorist policy" by successive Israeli governments
Source: WAFA, official PA news agency, Aug. 20, 2017
Headline: “The [PA] Ministry of Information: The Al-Aqsa Mosque arson is [an act of] terror to which no statute of limitations will apply”
“The [PA] Ministry of Information mentioned the 48th anniversary of the arson of the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque... The ministry emphasized in a statement today, Sunday [Aug. 20, 2017], that the despicable crime of terrorist Denis Michael (sic., Michael Denis William Rohan, a mentally unstable Christian who set the mosque on fire; see note below) and the claim that he was ‘not sane’prove that the targeting of the sites that are holy to Islam and Christianity is a calculated terrorist policy that has achieved the patronage of the successive occupation governments. The ministry said that the attempt to burn the mosque – the religious and national symbol that constitutes the first direction of prayer [in Islam], the second mosque, and the third [holiest] sanctuary – constitutes limitless terror to which no statute of limitations applies and which is part of the unlimited war against the mosques and churches...
The ministry also again emphasized that the fact that 48 years have passed since the crime of the Al-Aqsa Mosque arson does not exempt Israel from accountability or allow it to transgress international law, to hold the sensibilities of the Muslims in contempt, and to attack freedom of worship.”

Fatah accuses Israel of trying to "desecrate" holy sites, and blames Israel for subsequent violence
Source: Ma’an, independent Palestinian news agency, Aug. 1, 2017
Headline: "Fatah: The invasions of the Al-Aqsa Mosque constitute a continuation of the racist Zionist extremism"
"The Palestinian National Liberation Movement Fatah said today [Aug. 1, 2017] in a statement from the information department of the [Fatah] Commission of Mobilization and Organization that the settlers’ incessant invasions of the Al-Aqsa Mosque plazas, under protection of the occupation police, constitute a continuation of the Zionist extremism and a hostile and explicit call to desecrate the sanctity of the sites that are holy to Islam and Christianity in occupied Jerusalem… The Fatah Movement held the Israeli government – as the occupying force – fully responsible for the consequences of this criminal policy and the popular and legitimate rage of the Palestinian masses that it will awaken."

The PA and its leaders consider all of the Temple Mount an integral part of the Al-Aqsa Mosque. Therefore they view any presence of Jews on the mount as an "invasion." Official PA TV program Al-Aqsa Citadels, on the Temple.

Official PA TV narrator: "The Jews came to Palestine looking for a place to settle and a land to occupy. They came because of a Zionist belief and biblical prophecy that they strive to realize: To take over Jerusalem, which they call the Promised Land, and afterwards to destroy the Al-Aqsa Mosque and build their alleged Temple. They expect that after they build it, the Messiah they are expecting will come, and through him the Jews will be redeemed, and they will rule the world for a thousand years. The Messiah will fight the antisemites, and will rule them according to the Jewish law. All the Jews from the different groups hold this belief about the Temple. First Prime Minister of the [Israeli] occupation government [David] Ben Gurion said: 'Israel has no value without Jerusalem, and Jerusalem has no value without the Temple (sic., Ben Gurion spoke about the significance of Jerusalem, but did not make this statement).'""

“The occupation did not make do with closing the Al-Aqsa Mosque and attacking its gates, but also carried out acts of defacing and theft of historical manuscripts, sweeping away soil from around the Al-Aqsa Mosque, uprooting trees, and removing ancient stones from the Lion’s Gate and the alleys of the Old City [of Jerusalem], and it also allowed extremist settlers to invade the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque plazas (sic., Israel temporarily closed the Temple Mount following a terror attack there and reopened it with security measures; see note below)."
