Libel: Israel to destroy Al-Aqsa Mosque
Libels
Since the Palestinian Authority was established it has systematically indoctrinated young and old to hate Israelis and Jews. Using media, education, and cultural structures that it controls, the PA has actively promoted religious hatred, demonization, conspiracy libels, etc. These are packaged to present Israelis and Jews as endangering Palestinians, Arabs, and all humanity. This ongoing campaign has so successfully instilled hatred that fighting, murder and even suicide terror against Israelis and Jews are seen by the majority of Palestinians as justified self-defense and as Allah’s will.

Throughout history bogus conspiracy accusations have been used to incite hatred, violence, and mass murder. The myriad conspiracy libels concerning Israel, Israelis and Jews are an integral part of the Palestinian Authority’s ongoing hate promotion. PA libels claim that Israel conspires to infect Palestinians with AIDS, spread drug addiction, conspired and successfully murdered Arafat, and more. The PA’s goal has been to inculcate hatred to the degree that fighting and murdering Jews and Israelis will be glorified as heroic self-defense.
Libel: Israel to destroy Al-Aqsa Mosque
Both Fatah and Hamas have generated and sustained religious hatred by disseminating the libel that Israel is attempting to destroy the Al-Aqsa Mosque. With close to 100% of Palestinians identifying themselves as believing Muslims, this claim is highly
inflammatory and is often combined with the call to “defend Al-Aqsa” from the Jews. The Al-Aqsa libel includes numerous fabrications: Israel was behind a mosque fire in 1969; Israel is currently digging under the mosque in order to topple it; Israel plans to replace it with a new Temple; Israel is preparing a missile attack on the mosque, and more. This libel has been actively promoted since 1998.

This Hamas TV cartoon video depicts demonic Jews digging under the mosque in an attempt to topple it.

The following are more examples of the Al-Aqsa libel:
PFLP: Terror attack was "popular response to the crimes of the occupation... against our people and our holy sites in Jerusalem"
Source: Ma’an, independent Palestinian news agency, Jan. 8, 2017
Headline: “The Popular Front blesses the Jerusalem operation”
“The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) congratulated the masses of our people over the Jerusalem operation (i.e., terror attack, 4 murdered, over 15 wounded), which came as part of the popular response to the crimes of the occupation and the unbridled settlers against our people and our holy sites in Jerusalem and in the occupied homeland."

PA Islamic-Christian Council repeats libel: Israel’s killing of terrorists is “summary executions,” Terrorists carry out “operations”; Jewish visits to Temple Mount are “invasions”
Source: Official PA daily, Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, Jan. 4, 2017
Headline: "15 Martyrs, 2,030 detainees, and 16,000 extremists who invaded the Al-Aqsa Mosque during the past year"

"The [PA] Islamic-Christian Council for Jerusalem and the Holy Places yesterday [Jan. 3, 2017] published its annual report on the Israeli violations against the sites holy to Islam and Christianity in occupied Jerusalem and its suburbs in 2016…

[According to the report], the occupation forces continued to summarily execute [Palestinians] on the pretext of an attempt to carry out a 'stabbing or shooting' operation. The use of weapons for the killing of Palestinians was the first option of the occupation soldiers, and 13 (sic., the headline indicates 15) residents of Jerusalem died in 2016, most of them young men…

During 2016 the occupation authorities continued to desecrate the holy sites in Jerusalem, and especially the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque; they extended the period of time for invasions in the morning (i.e., the time during which Jews can access the Temple Mount –Ed.), carried out arrests, distanced [Palestinians] from the mosque, broke into the mosque, and attacked the worshippers in order to secure these invasions. Invasions by approximately 16,000 settlers through the Mughrabi Gate were recorded during the year on an almost daily basis. Among the invaders was Rabbi Yehuda Glick, who serves as an Israeli MP from the Likud party."

Jerusalem Fatah branch repeats libel that Israel plans on destroying the Al-Aqsa Mosque
Source: Ma’an, independent Palestinian news agency, Jan. 3, 2017
Headline: “Jerusalem branch [of Fatah]: The tunnels are a danger that surrounds the Al-Aqsa Mosque”

“The Jerusalem branch of the Fatah Movement today [Jan. 3, 2017] warned in a statement against the danger that surrounds the Al-Aqsa Mosque in particular and the Old City [of Jerusalem] in general, and also against the danger of their imminent collapse.
This was said after the exposure of networks of tunnels that were opened (a reference to the “Pilgrims’ Path,” see note below –Ed.), other [tunnels] under the Al-Aqsa Mosque that have been used, and additional [tunnels] that connect between Wadi Hilweh, south of the Al-Aqsa Mosque, and the Al-Buraq Wall (i.e., the Western Wall of the Temple Mount) plaza.
Fatah Jerusalem Branch Secretary Adnan Ghaith said that these steps by the extremist occupation government and the non-profit organizations of the settlement enterprise are liable to lead to a tightening of the blockade on the Al-Aqsa Mosque and its encirclement from all directions, as part of their feverish efforts to destroy it and establish the alleged Temple on its ruins.
Ghaith emphasized that the continuation of the excavations weakens the foundations of the Al-Aqsa Mosque and causes collapses, cracks in homes, and fissures in walls in the Old City and the Wadi Hilweh region.”

On Dec. 27, 2016, the Israeli Ministry of Tourism unveiled the “Pilgrims’ Path,” an unearthed ancient road under the main road of the Silwan neighborhood of Jerusalem that was excavated by the Ir David Foundation and the Israel Antiquities Authority. The “Pilgrims’ Path” was the main road of Jerusalem during the late Second Temple Period approximately 2,000 years ago, and led from the Siloam Pool to the Temple Mount.

“The [PA] Islamic-Christian Council for Jerusalem and the Holy Places said today, Wednesday [Dec. 28, 2016], that the fact that the Israeli occupation authorities have opened a new tunnel in the Wadi Hilweh neighborhood of
the village of Silwan (sic., neighborhood in Jerusalem), south of the Al-Aqsa Mosque, ‘constitutes a completion of the extremist Israeli plot surrounding the blessed mosque, whose goal is to establish the alleged Temple on its ruins.”

PA daily: “Settlers” and students “invaded” the Al-Aqsa Mosque, while being told about the “myth of ‘the alleged Temple’”
Source: Official PA daily, Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, Dec. 26, 2016
Headline: "86 settlers and Jewish students invade the Al-Aqsa Mosque"

"38 settlers and 48 Jewish students invaded the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque through the Mughrabi Gate yesterday [Dec. 25, 2016]…
The settlers and students held provocative tours at the mosque, while hearing explanations about the myth of ‘the alleged Temple,' as [Palestinian] worshippers made calls of 'Allahu Akbar' in protest of these invasions."

The PA and its leaders consider all of the Temple Mount an integral part of the Al-Aqsa Mosque. Therefore they view any presence of Jews on the mount as an "invasion." It should be noted that Jews who visit the Temple Mount only enter some sections of the open areas, and do not enter the Al-Aqsa Mosque or the Dome of the Rock.

"The [PA] Islamic-Christian Council for Jerusalem and the Holy Places blessed the Arab and Islamic nations upon the birthday of Prophet [Muhammad]…
The council noted that this event pounds on the walls of Jerusalem, even as it is still under the fire of the oppressive occupation and suffering from ruin, expulsion, and destruction, while 'Israel' continues Judaizing the holy city and while the place of the Ascent to Heaven of Allah's Messenger Muhammad (i.e., the Al-Aqsa Mosque) is subjected to excavations and tunnels are being dug under it in preparation for its destruction."
PA Minister of Religious Affairs calls on Palestinians to "carry out Ribat continuously at the Al-Aqsa Mosque"
Source: WAFA, official PA news agency, Dec. 5, 2016

“[PA] Minister of Religious Affairs Sheikh Yusuf Ida’is said that the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque stands before an unprecedented Israeli escalation in light of the rise in the rates of invasions by the groups of settlers who are currently enjoying wide influence…
Ida’is called on citizens to carry out Ribat (i.e., religious conflict/war over land claimed to be Islamic) continuously at the Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Ibrahimi Mosque (i.e., Cave of the Patriarchs), and not to give the occupation an opportunity, and he praised our residents’ standing firm on their land and their great sacrifices.”

PA Minister of Religious Affairs Sheikh Yusuf Ida'is:
“All that Israel wants is to Judaize the Holy City, take over the Al-Aqsa Mosque, destroy it and build the alleged Temple. Under Jerusalem there is a city of tunnels belonging to Israel. Yesterday, I was told that Israel has an underground market beneath the Jaffa Gate, which draws many [Palestinian]residents who shop there.”

Fatah official: Israel is trying to "Judaize Jerusalem," its goal is "the destruction of the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque and the establishment of the alleged Temple on its ruins"
Source: Ma’an, independent Palestinian news agency, Nov. 15, 2016
Headline: "Dr. Amal Hamad: We will sound the call to prayer everywhere and will not agree to the policy of silencing the voices at our holy sites"
"Fatah Central Committee member Amal Hamad in a press release today [Nov. 15, 2016] condemned the Muezzin Law measure, according to which the sounding of the call to prayer through loudspeakers will be prevented in Jerusalem…
Hamad noted that the extremist occupation government is acting with all its strength to Judaize Jerusalem and reach its great goal – the destruction of the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque and the establishment of the alleged Temple on its ruins…
She emphasized that the occupation's policy will not frighten the Palestinian people, and that the call to prayer will continue to be heard in occupied Jerusalem."

On Nov. 13, 2016, a bill to ban religious institutions from broadcasting over loudspeakers was approved for a preliminary reading in the Israeli Parliament. The bill is intended to prevent noise pollution. This bill is referred to by many as the "Muezzin Law," although it does not refer to any specific religion.
Other countries have already approved or attempted legislation for regulating the use of loudspeakers in mosques in order to limit noise pollution. These include India, Nigeria, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Jordan, Syria, Turkey, Bahrain, the United Emirates, the Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland, France, the UK, Austria, Norway, and Belgium, and the US. The PA has also passed legislation regarding the use of loudspeakers in mosques in order to reduce noise pollution.

Headline: "Alayan: The fact that the occupation banned the [sounding of the] call to prayer at the mosques expresses a policy of religious war"
“[Official Fatah Spokesman in Jerusalem and] Fatah Movement leadership member Raafat Alayan emphasized that the occupation is taking advantage of the Arab and Islamic silence and the weakness of the national and Islamic factions, and is striving to implement its plans in the field through the continuation of the settlement and its repeated invasions of the Al-Aqsa Mosque and the carrying out of many settlement plots in order to change the status quo in Jerusalem, even to the point of banning [the sounding of] the call to prayers at the mosques.
Alayan noted that the occupation government, which uses all executive, legislative, and judicial means at its disposal, is aspiring to implement the plan announced by many of [Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin] Netanyahu's ministers that strives to destroy the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque and build the alleged Temple on its ruins."

Official PA TV program The Occupied Capital, on heritage and folklore

Official PA TV host: “The Palestinian heritage refuses to undergo Judaization, despite the terror of the occupation that attempts to harm our heritage and Judaize it. Palestine, with its people, its land, its history, its trees, and everything within it – it is the faithful protector of our heritage, and it is waging a daily struggle against the occupation, at a time when Israel does not cease its acts of forgery and robbery against the Muslim and Christian holy sites and the antiquities sites - which are the required basis for heritage and national culture - and steals our Canaanite heritage.”

PA to kids: Israel killed Arafat and may kill Abbas
Source: Official PA TV Live, Nov. 11, 2016
Official PA TV program The Best Home, on the death of Yasser Arafat

Official PA TV host: “We want to know who murdered our late leader [Yasser Arafat]. Certainly it is the occupation, but we need to be certain on this issue so that we can turn to the world with facts… They could even kill our [PA] President [Mahmoud Abbas]…
[In 2002,] the Israeli occupation entered every area of the West Bank and tried to kill many, and it killed many of our [Palestinian] people (reference is to counter-terror Operation Defensive Shield, see note below –Ed.)…
In the end they killed him, Yasser Arafat, because up until his last breath he defended the children of his people in war and in peace, in other words both diplomatically and also with a rifle, with a weapon.”

Palestinian child: “In spirit and blood we will redeem you Al-Aqsa Mosque, in spirit and blood we will redeem you Al-Aqsa Mosque. In spirit and blood we will redeem you Al-Aqsa Mosque. Jerusalem, millions of Martyrs (Shahids) are marching towards you, Jerusalem, millions of Martyrs are marching towards you.”

Official PA TV host: “We will follow Yasser Arafat’s path and his promise, and also the path of our current president, leader Mahmoud Abbas, because he wants to see in all of us the future of Palestine, and he wants to struggle for all of us against the occupation’s army. He wants to struggle for us against Israel, which is growing in its military strength - but we are growing in our creativity and we will fight them before the entire world. Allah willing they will soon leave Palestine defeated.”

Fatah added in its announcement: ‘We adhere to our people’s right to legitimate resistance, and continue mobilizing and organizing our national ranks, in order to fight the plan to Judaize Jerusalem and its holy sites. [We continue] in resistance in order to fight the crimes of the occupation army, the settlers, and the summary executions… alongside our campaign in the arena of international law.’”
Abbas: UNESCO resolution ignoring Jewish connection to holy sites is meant to “prevent harm,” and to condemn “Israeli violations” against East Jerusalem’s “identity”
Source: WAFA, official PA news agency, Nov. 1, 2016
Headline: “The [PA] president: Peace is our strategic goal, and the key to it is the end of the Israeli occupation”
“[PA] President of the State of Palestine Mahmoud Abbas said that peace is our strategic goal, that it is an interest of all of us, and that the key to peace is to end the Israeli occupation and to put an end to the historical injustice caused to our people, so that the two states – Palestine and Israel – will live in security, stability, peace, and good neighborliness.
During a press conference that he held in Bethlehem with his Italian counterpart President Sergio Mattarella, His Honor (i.e., Abbas) expressed his constant willingness to make peace with Israel and to implement the two-state solution according to the resolutions of the international institutions and the Arab Peace Initiative. He expressed support for the international peace conference that France is working to convene at the end of this year [2016]. Likewise, he clarified that the role of UNESCO (the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) and its resolutions is to protect the global human heritage, and as part of this to prevent harm to it and to condemn the Israeli violations that are meant to change the nature and identity of East Jerusalem. He noted that the latest Israeli attacks, which attempted to mix religion and heritage, are incorrect and inappropriate. President Mahmoud Abbas again emphasized the honor he has for Judaism, and the permanent call that Jerusalem be open to worship for all believers of the three monotheistic religions. His Honor expressed support for every regional and international effort to struggle with and uproot the roots of terror, extremism, and violence, which are deserving of condemnation regardless of their source and nature.”

Source: Official PA daily, Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, Oct. 30, 2016
"The [PA Palestinian Supreme Fatwa] council warned of the regional consequences of an escalation in the rate of the invasions of the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, which constitutes a red line for Muslims throughout the world. Likewise, it clarified that the occupation authorities have escalated the rate of their invasions of the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque for what are called the Jewish holidays, and that these invasions reveal their aggressive intentions towards it and verify the falseness of their claim to commit to retaining the historic status quo that exists there… The council urged everyone who can come to the Al-Aqsa Mosque to invest the maximum efforts to reach it and strengthen the presence there so as to defend it, and emphasized that our people will adhere to their mosque, regardless of the price and sacrifices that will be required, until Allah inherits the land and everything in it.”

PA TV discounts archaelogical find as a "forgery": Israel "fabricates lies" as part of plan to "build the alleged Temple in place of the Al-Aqsa Mosque"
Source: Official Palestinian Authority TV, Oct. 29, 2016
Official PA TV News, on Israeli archaeologists casting doubt on the authenticity of the newly found papyrus from 700 BCE on which is written "Jerusalem" in ancient Hebrew script
Official PA TV reporter: "The Israeli media is attempting to use a document which is said to be a certificate on which is written in the ancient Hebrew script 'Jerusalem,' and which was found four years ago. According to the story, Israel attempts to fabricate lies and to find proof of them or to write what it wants about them (i.e., the finds) in order to impose the Israeli plan that aspires to build the alleged Temple in place of the Al-Aqsa Mosque. Here begins the story, in the middle of the West Bank desert (i.e., Judean Desert) a piece of papyrus form the 7th century BCE is found, and according to the claims it is a certificate for the transfer of a certain type of wine that was sent by the king from the town of Na’arata in the Jordan Valley, north of Jericho... The thief who claims that Israel has a history through his pursuit of antiquities thieves – is looking for the first market to display what he stole. Thus also [Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin] Netanyahu, who is attempting to stand in the path of UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) after the slap on the cheek he received last week. Against the background of events that have shaken the Israeli archaeologists regarding the level of reliability due to the precedents of forgery of documents with ancient tools and years of excavations, one of the Israeli archaeologists comes out, Israel Finkelstein [from Tel Aviv University], who denies the presence of any connection of the Jews to Jerusalem, or even any archaeological evidence pointing to the location where the Temple was located (sic., see note)."

PA council: "The blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque and the buildings adjacent to it are about to collapse at any moment" due to Israeli excavations
Source: Ma’an, independent Palestinian news agency, Oct. 27, 2016
Headline: “The [PA] Fatwa Council warned against the collapse of the Al-Aqsa Mosque”
“The [PA] Palestinian Supreme Fatwa Council condemned the invasions by the Jewish extremists into the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque plaza (i.e., the Temple Mount), which have increased after the UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) resolution that determined that the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque belongs to the Muslims and negated any connection between the Israeli occupation and the mosque, with its walls, plazas, and lower parts.
The council condemned the personal participation of the occupation’s [Israeli] Prime Minister [Benjamin Netanyahu] in the excavation activities that are held under the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque (sic., see note below), and the decision of the occupation government’s [Israel] Antiquities Authority that calls on every Jewish youth before [army] enlistment to take part in excavations under the Al-Aqsa Mosque as they are a national obligation (sic., see note below). This is in addition to the participation of settler associations in searches for remnants of the alleged Temple in an attempt to prove any sort of presence of theirs in Jerusalem and the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque. Likewise, the council clarified that these excavations herald [the fact] that the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque and the buildings adjacent to it are about to collapse at any moment, Heaven forbid...
These statements were made during the 145th meeting of the council, led by [PA] Grand Mufti of Jerusalem and the Palestinian Territories and Supreme Fatwa Council Head Sheikh Muhammad Hussein.”

PA daily: "Netanyahu intends to participate in excavations under the Al-Aqsa Mosque" in attempt to prove "Jews' alleged connection to it"
Source: Official PA daily, Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, Oct. 25, 2016
Headline: “Arrogance – Netanyahu intends to participate in excavations under the Al-Aqsa Mosque”
“The occupation’s [Israel’s] Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu promised in press statements to personally participate in the removal of soil from under the Al-Aqsa Mosque this week (sic., Netanyahu’s actual statement appears in a note below), and called on the Jewish population to join him…
PLO Executive Committee member [and Secretary-General of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine] Ahmed Majdalani emphasized that Netanyahu’s statements are full of arrogance and haughtiness. Majdalani said in statements to [the official PA radio station] The Voice of Palestine that these statements are meant to thwart the latest UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) resolutions regarding the Jerusalem [Noble] Sanctuary (i.e., the Temple Mount) and [the] Old [City of] Jerusalem through lies and claims about the Jews' alleged connection to it.”

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced on Oct. 19, 2016, in the wake of UNESCO’s resolution erasing the Jewish connection to the Temple Mount, that his government would help fund the Temple Mount Sifting Project of the Ir David Foundation. The project works to recover archaeological artifacts from approximately 400 truckloads of soil removed from the Temple Mount by the Waqf without supervision in 1999, as part of its illegal construction of the El-Marwani Mosque in the Solomon’s Stables area of the Temple Mount.
