Libel: Israel to destroy Al-Aqsa Mosque
Libels
Since the Palestinian Authority was established it has systematically indoctrinated young and old to hate Israelis and Jews. Using media, education, and cultural structures that it controls, the PA has actively promoted religious hatred, demonization, conspiracy libels, etc. These are packaged to present Israelis and Jews as endangering Palestinians, Arabs, and all humanity. This ongoing campaign has so successfully instilled hatred that fighting, murder and even suicide terror against Israelis and Jews are seen by the majority of Palestinians as justified self-defense and as Allah’s will.

Throughout history bogus conspiracy accusations have been used to incite hatred, violence, and mass murder. The myriad conspiracy libels concerning Israel, Israelis and Jews are an integral part of the Palestinian Authority’s ongoing hate promotion. PA libels claim that Israel conspires to infect Palestinians with AIDS, spread drug addiction, conspired and successfully murdered Arafat, and more. The PA’s goal has been to inculcate hatred to the degree that fighting and murdering Jews and Israelis will be glorified as heroic self-defense.
Libel: Israel to destroy Al-Aqsa Mosque
Both Fatah and Hamas have generated and sustained religious hatred by disseminating the libel that Israel is attempting to destroy the Al-Aqsa Mosque. With close to 100% of Palestinians identifying themselves as believing Muslims, this claim is highly
inflammatory and is often combined with the call to “defend Al-Aqsa” from the Jews. The Al-Aqsa libel includes numerous fabrications: Israel was behind a mosque fire in 1969; Israel is currently digging under the mosque in order to topple it; Israel plans to replace it with a new Temple; Israel is preparing a missile attack on the mosque, and more. This libel has been actively promoted since 1998.

This Hamas TV cartoon video depicts demonic Jews digging under the mosque in an attempt to topple it.

The following are more examples of the Al-Aqsa libel:
PA officials: Jews have “no connection” to Temple Mount, continued Israeli “crimes in Jerusalem” will lead to “more violence and spilling of blood in the entire region”

Headline: "Sources of authority in Jerusalem call to boycott the metal detectors, and Ida'is calls to go up to the Al-Aqsa Mosque"

"The Islamic sources of authority in Jerusalem… called on residents of Jerusalem and Palestine to resist all of the Israeli occupation's cruel steps, which are being expressed by a change in the historical status quo, and include placing metal detectors at the Al-Aqsa Mosque gates. They called not to use [the metal detectors] under any circumstances and not to enter the Al-Aqsa Mosque through them.
In a joint statement, Islamic sources of authority yesterday [July 17, 2017] called on citizens to go up to the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque to pray and serve Allah. They said: 'If they continue to require entry to the Al-Aqsa Mosque by passing through metal detectors, we call on the members of our people to pray and devote themselves to serving Allah before the gates of the Al-Aqsa Mosque, in the streets of Jerusalem, and its alleys.'
[PA] Minister of Religious Affairs Sheikh Yusuf Ida’is called on citizens to go up to the Al-Aqsa Mosque, to pray at the places they can reach, and to support the members of our people in Jerusalem, who are living these days under the swords of the right-wing [Israeli] government…
Ida'is also issued instructions to focus on the occupation government’s unprecedented attacks and violations against the Al-Aqsa Mosque during the next Friday sermon…

PA official: Israel changing Temple Mount status quo with placement of metal detectors; “more dangerous” than attack by “Jewish extremist” on Al-Aqsa Mosque
Source: PNN Palestine News Network (independent Palestinian news agency), July 18, 2017
Headline: "Tayseer Khaled: Jerusalem and the Al-Aqsa Mosque are the main concern of the leaders of the Arab and Islamic states"

"PLO Executive Committee member and Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine (DFLP) political bureau member Tayseer Khaled called on the Arab and Islamic governments to act to curb the dangers threatening Jerusalem and the Al-Aqsa Mosque now when it is clear that the government of Israel is using the events of last Friday in the area of the mosque and its plazas (i.e., terror attack on July 14, 2017, 2 Israelis were murdered; see note below –Ed.) as an opening to change the status quo step by step, from letting worshippers pass through metal detectors, to the division of one of the holiest sites in the eyes of Arabs and Muslims according to areas and times (i.e., separate prayer times for Muslims and Jews).
He noted that what is happening at this time at the Al-Aqsa Mosque is much more dangerous than what has happened through all the years of the occupation, including the fire that broke out at the mosque after Jewish extremist Dennis Michael (sic., Michael Dennis Rohan, an Australian Christian; see note below) ignited a fire in its western wing on Aug. 21, 1969."

Headline: "Hamdallah talks on the phone with his Jordanian counterpart about the latest developments in Jerusalem"

"[PA] Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah and Jordanian Prime Minister Hani Al-Mulki talked yesterday [July 17, 2017] on the phone about the latest developments in Jerusalem and about the dangerous Israeli escalation against the Al-Aqsa Mosque (refers to the placement of metal detectors at the entrances to the Temple Mount following a terror attack there on July 14, 2017, in which 2 Israelis were murdered; see note below –Ed.)…
Hamdallah emphasized his absolute opposition to Israel's security excuses, whose purpose is to justify its steps of escalation at the Al-Aqsa Mosque. He warned against the Israeli plans to change the status quo in Jerusalem, to harm the religious and historical status of the Al-Aqsa Mosque, and to impose more limitations on the freedom of worship there.
He also emphasized that the Israeli military escalation, especially in Jerusalem, will lead to a deterioration of the security situation and an intensification of the reactions."

PLO official: Israeli security measures after terror attack are part of “plan whose goal is to divide the Al-Aqsa Mosque, and afterwards to destroy it and establish the alleged Temple in its place"
Source: Al-Quds, July 16, 2017
Op-ed by Head of the PLO Department of Jerusalem Affairs and PLO Executive Committee member Ahmed Qurei

“The provocative steps that the occupation authorities took in all of Jerusalem, and around the Al-Aqsa Mosque in particular, since Friday morning (the placing of metal detectors following an attack there on July 14, 2017, in which 2 were murdered; see note below –Ed.), have aroused all of the Palestinian, Arab, and Islamic nightmares at once and brought back to memory all of the similar steps that Israel took against the Ibrahimi Mosque (i.e., Cave of the Patriarchs) in Hebron about half a century ago, which led to the division of the mosque [between Jews and Muslims] by times and areas… And we see with our own eyes the first steps that are paving the way for the implementation of the plan whose goal is to divide the Al-Aqsa Mosque, and afterwards to destroy it and establish the alleged Temple in its place…"

PA officials blame Israel for terror attack on the Temple Mount, following Israeli “policies against the Al-Aqsa Mosque and Jerusalem," including "securing the settlers’ daily invasions” of the Mosque
Source: Ma’an, independent Palestinian news agency, July 16, 2017
“Today, Sunday [July 16, 2017], popular bodies and figures and Jerusalem institutions opposed all of the recent Israeli steps that the occupation forces are attempting to force [through] within the Al-Aqsa Mosque, the plazas of the Noble Sanctuary (i.e., the Temple Mount), and the Old City in occupied Jerusalem (refers to how Israel stationed metal detectors at the entrance to the site in response to a terror attack on the Temple Mount on July 14, 2017 –Ed.). This came as part of a meeting that was described as significant...
In the meeting the following matters were emphasized:
1. The occupation authorities are the ones responsible for the events and actions that have taken place since last Friday (July 14, 2017), which are a product of the occupation’s policies against the Al-Aqsa Mosque and Jerusalem, including securing the settlers’ daily invasions of the Noble Sanctuary, continuing the settlement policy, destroying homes, and imposing exorbitant taxes on the [Arab] civilians of Jerusalem.
2. The Israeli occupation is the one responsible for transferring the confrontation that took place outside the Noble Sanctuary to within it last Friday (i.e., Israel temporarily closed the Temple Mount for two days in response to the attack), which confirms the occupation’s intent to exploit what occurred (i.e., terror attack, 2 murdered) in order to carry out its plans, whose goal is to change the status quo at the Al-Aqsa Mosque.”

Op-ed in PA daily criticizes terror attack at Temple Mount as not serving Palestinian interests, but claims Israel has plan to “Judaize” the Al-Aqsa Mosque and Jerusalem
Source: Official PA daily, Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, July 15, 2017
Excerpt of op-ed by Bassem Barhoum, regular columnist for the official PA daily

"Nobody disputes the fact that the Israeli occupation is the main problem, and that it is the root of the violence and terror. Why is this occupation, its soldiers, its police, and its intelligence at the Al-Aqsa Mosque and around it? And why are they in all of the occupied Palestinian territories at all?[…] The word 'resistance' must not prevent us from thinking of the tragedy that this operation (i.e., terror attack, 2 murdered; see note below) is likely to bring down upon the Al-Aqsa Mosque and us, especially considering the fact that we know the Israeli-Zionist plans which target [the Al-Aqsa Mosque] with the false claim that it is the 'Temple Mount.' The word 'resistance' must not scare us or prevent us from criticizing it when this 'resistance' serves the enemy or any regional side that is not the Palestinian side, to whom the cause and the land belong.
Also, the wonder at the timing [of the operation] must be tied to its general context, [and] to the fact that the occupation state believes that in the shadow of the growing crises of the Arab nation and the hated [Fatah-Hamas] rift, it has a golden opportunity to complete the plan to Judaize Jerusalem, and the Al-Aqsa Mosque in particular. The completion of this [plan] and the division of the Al-Aqsa Mosque [between Jews and Muslims] according to areas and times required a trigger from Israel’s viewpoint – and now they have obtained it through this operation…"

Palestinian reactions to terror attack on Temple Mount call Israeli responses “a crime,” “acts of terror,” and an “aggression against faith and religion that will drag the region into a religious conflict”
Source: Official PA daily, Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, July 15, 2017
"In a first precedent since 1969, the occupation forces yesterday [July 14, 2017] closed the Al-Aqsa Mosque until tomorrow (Sunday), prevented [Arab] citizens from praying within it, and turned occupied Jerusalem into a military base. They deployed hundreds of their people in the city's neighborhoods, and used the armed confrontation that took place yesterday morning at the Al-Aqsa Mosque (i.e., terror attack, 2 murdered; see note below) as an excuse for it. Three residents of Umm Al-Fahm – which is within the Green Line (i.e., Palestinian term for Israel; the Green Line is the ceasefire line between Israel and the neighboring Arab countries, 1949-1967) - died as Martyrs (Shahids) and 2 of the occupation's soldiers (sic., border policemen) were killed [in the confrontation]…The [Palestinian] National Council (i.e., the legislative body of the PLO) said that the fact that the Israeli occupation authorities closed the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque and did not allow holding the Friday prayer there for the first time since 1969 constitutes a crime, a dangerous precedent, and blatant aggression towards the holy sites and the right and freedom of the Palestinians – Muslims and Christians alike – to hold their religious ceremonies..."

Dean of Islamic schools calls on Muslims to carry out Ribat at the Al-Aqsa Mosque
Source: Official Palestinian Authority TV, July 15, 2017
Official PA TV program Inside, on the closure of the Al-Aqsa Mosque for two days after a terror attack was committed there on July 14, 2017, in which 2 Israelis were murdered; hosting Dean of the Al-Azhar Institutes in Palestine Sheikh Imad Hamato

Dean of the Al-Azhar Institutes in Palestine and host of weekly PA TV show in Islam Sheikh Imad Hamato: "We [the Palestinians] are people that do not know our history correctly. We have a deed of ownership from Allah for the Al-Aqsa Mosque. We have a deed of ownership from our lord, Allah’s Messenger [Muhammad]…
We must all be at the Al-Aqsa Mosque [expressing our full] emotions, this is a call over those good radio waves, that every Muslim should reexamine his faith. We fear that Allah will examine our hearts and find that we are mired in emotions that will not please Him. Every Muslim must fulfill the obligatory commandment to assist the Al-Aqsa Mosque. It is not enough that you say that your identity is Muslim, and it is not enough that you say that your identity is Christian. You must ask forgiveness of Allah and carry out the commandment of Ribat at the Al-Aqsa Mosque, around this mosque taken hostage."

Following terror attack, Fatah calls on Palestinians to go to Al-Aqsa Mosque to defend it from Israel

Headline: “Wall-to-wall national and Arab condemnation of the occupation’s closure of the Al-Aqsa Mosque”
“The Fatah Movement called on the Palestinians to go up to the Al-Aqsa Mosque following Israeli Prime Minister [Benjamin Netanyahu’s] decision to completely close the mosque yesterday (Friday) [July 14, 2017] (the Temple Mount was closed in response to a terror attack at the site that morning in which 2 Israeli border policemen were murdered, see note below. It was reopened on Sunday, July 16, 2017 –Ed.).
The movement said in a press statement yesterday: ‘The Israeli occupation and the systematic Israeli policy of oppressing the members of our Palestinian people, particularly in Jerusalem, preventing the free access of believers to the holy sites, and the repeating invasions of the Al-Aqsa Mosque plazas by settlers are the root of the problem. They are the beginning of the endless cycle of violence, and they are the factor that necessarily leads to Palestinians being murdered over and over in cold blood, with no consideration for the sanctity of the site and the sanctity of life...’”

Fatah Facebook rebroadcasts Abbas' call to prevent Jews "in any way" from “defiling our holy places,” following terror attack on the Temple Mount
Source: Official Fatah Facebook page, July 15, 2017

Text and video posted on the official Fatah Facebook page

PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas: “It's not enough for us to say: ‘There are those carrying out Ribat’ (religious conflict / war over land claimed to be Islamic). We must all carry out Ribat in the Al-Aqsa [Mosque]. It's not enough for us to say: ‘The settlers have arrived [at the Mosque]’. They have come, and they must not come to the Sanctuary (i.e., Temple Mount). We have to prevent them, in any way whatsoever, from entering the Sanctuary. This is our Sanctuary, our Al-Aqsa and our Church [of the Holy Sepulchre]. They have no right to enter it. They have no right to defile it. We must prevent them. Let us stand before them with chests bared to protect our holy places.”

Fatah official: “I call for a popular resistance that is capable of incorporating the masses”
Source: Donia Al-Watan (independent Palestinian news agency), July 14, 2017
Headline: “Zaki: The illusion of peace has put Israel into a state of extremism, and the Palestinians must carry out popular resistance"
"Fatah Movement Central Committee member Abbas Zaki emphasized that the imaginary peace has caused Israel to live in a state of extremism and stupidity, and noted that the time has come for the world to recognize that the occupation is still committing crimes through which it strives to take revenge on all of the holy sites…
He said: 'Since 1967, nobody has dared to close the Al-Aqsa Mosque. Its closure today proves that Israel has come out in an attack against the monotheistic religions, and it is a wild battle against the tenets of faith and religion by wild law-breaking gangs that kill morning and night as if the killing of Palestinians is permissible, while anyone who kills Israelis is an aggressor and a terrorist, and therefore this is a completely unacceptable situation.' […] He added: 'I call for a popular resistance that is capable of incorporating the masses, and I call on the Palestinians to bear their responsibility and show the world that the occupation is carrying out the worst kind of terror, and [popular resistance] is the right of the Palestinian people.’”

Preacher at Al-Aqsa Mosque, following terror attack there, glorifies Martyrdom, but suggests Jews\Israel is using the terror attack to take over the Mosque
Source: Official PA daily, Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, July 14, 2017
Video of Sheikh Khaled Al-Mughrabi in his twice weekly lesson at the Al-Aqsa Mosque, referring to the terrorist attack that took place at the Temple Mount in Jerusalem on July 14, 2017, in which 2 Israeli border policemen were murdered

Sheikh Khaled Al-Mughrabi: "Let us return to what happened today (July 14, 2017). First of all, my brothers, we do not want anyone to criticize us. We view every person that defends the Al-Aqsa Mosque and the religion of Islam as a person that has abandoned his world for Allah, and view him as one of the righteous, the Martyrs (Shahids), and the God-fearing whose actions are acceptable in the eyes of Allah – but we say that it is possible that the supporters of Satan used him to achieve their goals… The police station – I remember this from when I was a child – is a place where a Jew was once killed. What did they do? They took over a whole building because a Jew was killed there. According to their customs, everywhere that [a Jew] was killed it is their right to place a memorial monument to the killed. This is something we know, and I am sure that everyone knows it, and it cannot be that anybody that wants to protect the Al-Aqsa Mosque would put the Al-Aqsa Mosque in this dangerous situation unless, as we said, they are using their tricks to draw this person into the Al-Aqsa Mosque, and that is what happened in our opinion."

Fatah responds to accusations of inciting violence: The “true incitement” is by Israel, which carries out “invasions of the Al-Aqsa Mosque” and attempts to “Judaize” the Cave of Patriarchs in Hebron
Source: WAFA, official PA news agency, July 10, 2017
Headline: "Al-Qawasmi: The occupation, settlement, and invasions of the Al-Aqsa Mosque"
"The Fatah Movement rejected the Israeli accusations against the Palestinian leadership, the movement, and the Palestinians in general, according to which they are inciting to violence. The movement emphasized that the true incitement is inherent in the continuation of the occupation, settlement, ongoing invasions of the Al-Aqsa Mosque and its plazas, and attempts to divide and Judaize the purely Islamic Ibrahimi Mosque (i.e., Cave of the Patriarchs) in Hebron.
[Fatah] Movement Spokesman Osama Al-Qawasmi said in a press statement today, Monday [July 10, 2017]… that everyone must understand 'that the Palestinian people is the victim of the Israeli occupation, and not as Israel tries to portray [the situation].’"

The PA and its leaders consider all of the Temple Mount an integral part of the Al-Aqsa Mosque. Therefore they view any presence of Jews on the mount as an "invasion." It should be noted that Jews who visit the Temple Mount only enter some sections of the open areas, and do not enter the Al-Aqsa Mosque or the Dome of the Rock.

Abbas’ religious advisor: Jews have no right to Temple Mount; Netanyahu is dragging region toward a “merciless religious war”
Source: Official PA daily, Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, July 4, 2017
Headline: “Al-Habbash: Netanyahu is dragging the region in to a volcano of religious war"

"Supreme Shari’ah Judge and [PA] President [Mahmoud Abbas’] advisor on Religious and Islamic Affairs Mahmoud Al-Habbash said that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s decisions are a sort of declaration of war against the Al-Aqsa Mosque and a dragging of the region to the opening of a volcano of merciless religious war that will bring about total destruction, and by whose fire everyone will be burned.
Al-Habbash said this after Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu announced the cancellation of the ban on Israeli Parliament Members and ministers entering the Al-Aqsa Mosque plazas (i.e., the Temple Mount)…
He noted that this step is a blatant violation of the international resolutions regarding the holy sites in the holy city [of Jerusalem], and of the occupying authority’s obligation to defend them and prevent the falsification of their history with false claims that have no connection to history or human civilization.
Al-Habbash noted that the Al-Aqsa Mosque and all facilities of the Jerusalem Noble Sanctuary (i.e., the Temple Mount), including the Al-Buraq Wall (i.e., the Western Wall of the Temple Mount), are an Islamic site that belongs only to the Muslims, and that nobody but them has a right to it. This is based on the divine decision that appears in the Al-Isra Sura [of the Quran] (i.e., describing Prophet Muhammad's Night Journey – see note below), in addition to the international decisions on the matter and the latest UNESCO (UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) resolutions that affirmed the Islamicness of the Jerusalem Noble Sanctuary. Al-Habbash also noted that the Palestinians will not let their Al-Aqsa Mosque be subjected to violations and desecration by the extremist gangs and the Israeli right, which is leading Israel and the region to disasters, wars, and destr

"Secretary-General of the [PA] Islamic-Christian Council for Jerusalem and the Holy Places Dr. Hanna Issa said… that the situation that Jerusalem is in is most difficult, and that the real dangers surrounding the sites holy to Islam and Christianity are changing the reality in the city. He noted that the occupation’s tyranny has not skipped the churches, as the churches - like the mosques – are being set on fire, destroyed, and desecrated, and racist slogans are being written on them… He explained that one of the blows by the Israeli occupation authorities against the holy sites is the excavation of a network of tunnels under the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, to the point that its foundations are liable to collapse at any moment… He added: 'Continuous Ribat (i.e., religious conflict/war over land claimed to be Islamic) must be carried out at the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, at the houses of prayer in it, and at its plazas, in order to rebuff every Israeli attack and defend it.’"
