Rushdi Al-Tamimi was shot during a violent demonstration of young Palestinians throwing rocks at Israeli soldiers. He later died of his wounds. Al-Tamimi’s brother was at the protest, and said:

PA daily sports columnist glorifies Martyrdom death for children
|

Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, Nov. 19, 2012
|
In response to Hamas' ongoing rocket fire against Israel, on Nov. 14, 2012, Israel launched an aerial offensive aimed at crippling the terrorist infrastructure in Gaza. PA daily sports columnist Bader Maki demonizes Israel and glorifies Martyrdom for children in the following open letter:
"My dear general [Michel Platini], you are currently the president of the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA), and the Hebrew entity [Israel] is part of this union. Are you satisfied, my brother Michel, that this entity kills our children in Gaza? ...
This cursed entity must be kicked out of this sports union that believes in justice and fair play. The blood of [the children] Ahmed Abu Daqqa and his friends will not have been spilled in vain only if national unity is achieved. We must achieve it to honor the souls of our Martyrs (Shahids), especially those of our children who dazzled the world with only stones and RPGs in their hands. The occupier knows them well from the Intifada and Beirut."

Jerusalem and "every inch" of land will be freed "by the blood of the youth" - girl recites poem on PA TV
|
|
Source:
Palestinian TV (Fatah), Sept. 8, 2012
|
Girl on PA TV program for youth recites a poem:
"They say I’m a terrorist, but I’m no terrorist
What can I do, Mother, they took my book away
They tied me up, blindfolded me and threw me in a tank
They threw me into a dark room under watch
They wouldn’t let me see you, Mother, and wouldn’t let me see my friends
I longed to go to school and I longed to have my games...
I swear by a child’s tears...
By the blood of the youth
Jerusalem will return to us...
We’ll free every inch from the foreigner's clutch."
Host: "Bravo, bravo, applause."

Mother places suicide belt on child, on Facebook page for Fatah in Lebanon

Source:
Fatah's Facebook page, Sept. 3, 2012
|
"My mother dressed me in a strange belt (i.e., a suicide belt).
I asked her: 'What is this, mother?'
She said: 'I will put it on you and you will go to your death!'
I said to her: 'Mother, what have I done that you want me to die?'
She shed a tear that hurt my heart and said: 'The homeland needs you, son. Go and blow up the sons of Zion.'
I said to her: 'Why me and not you?'
She said: 'I will stay in order to give birth to more children for the sake of Palestine.'
I kissed her hand and said to her: 'Keep it up, mother, for you and for Palestine I will kill the impure and the damned.'"

Song directs children to violence and Martyrdom-death
|
|
Source:
Palestinian TV (Fatah), Feb. 24, 2012
|
"Don't cry, Palestine, stand tall for your heroes. Let the cowards [Israel] see that your kids didn't surrender to fear in the midst of horror. Oh children of the stones, teach the sinners [Israel] that shooting doesn't scare you, that your dignity is preserved, and that death for the sake of the country is not terror.
Terror is the occupier and his helpers, not those who saw and tasted death but were not humiliated, and not the child who nurses fear and expulsion, yet surrenders not. He vows that when he grows up, he will follow the same path. Don't be sad, oh great nation, Allah is with you. Don't be sad with Allah's help."

Song performed by children at an event marking the 47th anniversary of the Fatah movement:
"How beautiful you are, my country
The love in my heart for you is great
You have brought up and educated
generation after generation,
You waited patiently and discovered your heroic children
Oh, my pure land, I shall saturate you with my blood
I shall live and die upon your green ground
Your ground satiates us, your goodness satisfies us
I shall redeem you with my life, oh my land
Your embrace warms us
Your ground satiates us, your goodness satisfies us
I shall redeem you with my life, oh my land
Your embrace warms us"

PA funded magazine publishes essay by 11 year-old lauding Martyrdom-death
|
|
Source:
Zayzafuna magazine, Jan. 1, 2012
|
Essay entitled "How do you know that you're a Palestinian?" by Asil Khaled, 5th grade student from El-Bireh:
"If you know that you were born with a death sentence, and if you go to your death without caring - then you're a Palestinian!
If your song is the song of Martyrdom (Shahada), and death, for you, is birth - then you're a Palestinian!
If you love death, and you say the Shahada [declaration] (i.e., the Islamic creed: "There is no God but Allah, Muhammad is Allah's messenger.") aloud - then you're a Palestinian!
If you've ever felt that you're an exploding body and that your soul will long one day to be a knight for the homeland - then you're a Palestinian!
If the stone is your weapon against oppression, and if those who hate [you] criticize your struggle - then you're a Palestinian!
If you have saturated the tree of the homeland with your free blood, with love, and have offered the remnants of your bodily parts as a bridge for those who are yet to come - then you're a Palestinian!
If you have shattered the chains, and carried the key to the house from which [your] grandparents were expelled - then you're a Palestinian!
If your wedding (i.e., a Martyr's funeral in Islamic tradition is a wedding to 72 Maidens of Paradise) was amidst a hail of bullets between the shoulders of friends [who carried your body], against the sound of tears mingled with joy (i.e., of achieving Martyrdom) and the searing pain of separation- then you're a Palestinian, and you're full of pride at being a Palestinian."

Girl sings Intifada song about the "Martyr who loved death," PA TV host prefers song about life
|

Source:
Palestinian TV (Fatah), July 25, 2011
|
Girl: "I am the voice of the Intifada, and no voice is louder than mine;
I am the last will of the Martyr
who loved death upon the soil of the homeland.
My voice refuses to be silent.
I am the sister of the one
who adorned herself and girded herself with death.
I am the voice of the stone and the tree, the bleeding wounded."
After interviewing other children, the host turned to the girl a second time and asked her to sing a different song:
PA TV host: "Bravo, our friend Bara'a; that was a beautiful song.
We want to hear a song full of life and vitality, because we want to live. We want a beautiful life, we want always to call for all that adorns our life. We want to forget about death for a little while and distance ourselves far from death."

Palestinian kindergarten class performs play called "The Martyr's Wedding"

Source:
Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, June 2, 2011

"'The Birds of Paradise' kindergarten held a nice graduation party... The ceremony included beautiful performances... one of the most outstanding was a play from the story of Little Red Riding Hood, and another performance named 'The Martyr's (Shahid's) Wedding', delighted the audience by the role-play of the children, whose acting depicted the reality of roadblocks, children, occupation soldiers, and the children's death as Martyrs. This charm caused the audience to cry, as the children's performance was accompanied by the playing of nationalistic songs."

Poem by a girl in 8th grade, published in PLO magazine for youth, Zayzafuna:
“Look at Jerusalem and at the Dome of the Rock [Mosque] Whose moon is high in the sky
Raising its head [in pride] at its sons who have Died as Martyrs for its [the mosque’s] liberation There the mighty Jihad fighter died as a Martyr
And Jerusalem is proud of its heroes who defend it with stones. Oh Jerusalem, do not be sad, for your victory is near
With the song of birds up high
Asking its people to stone the enemy
Oh bride of time
Oh third holy place [to Islam] – we will redeem you with our life
Oh compass of the nation – do not be sad
For your victory is near, Allah willing
Victory, victory, victory, oh city of Jerusalem.”

"When we become Martyrs we'll go to Paradise.
Don't say we're young.
This way of life has made us adults.
...
Without Palestine, what meaning is there to childhood?
Children, you performed the (religious) duty and Sunna (Islamic tradition):
There is no God but Allah, and the Shahid (Martyr) is Allah's beloved.
You have taught us the meaning of heroism.
...
Even if they were to give us this world and all of its treasures, no, it would not make us forget [Palestine]. Not at all.
It is my country and [I give] my blood for its sake."

“I am the Palestinian mother, I am the mother of the Martyr (Shahid) who sacrif iced himself for the sake of liberty, and followed the path of Martyrdom (Shahada) for the sake of the homeland… He fell upon the land of Palestine, quenching it with his pure blood. My son died as a Martyr with a bullet, a treacherous bullet, to his chest. Poem written by a boy in 6th grade, published in PLO youth magazine Zayzafuna:
“My mother went to the home of the Martyr (Shahid) to express condolences…
My mother said [to the Martyr’s mother]: ‘Why do you weep? He died as a Martyr, do not be sad.

Following the afternoon prayer, the whole village set off on a grand funeral procession. Muhammad’s mother accompanied her [dead] son as though he were not a Martyr, but rather at a wedding ceremony.”

“O heroes, Allah has promised you victory ... Do not talk yourselves into flight…Your enemies seek life while you seek death. They seek spoils to fill their empty stomachs while you seek a Garden [Paradise] as wide as are the heavens and the earth. Do not be anxious to meet them [enemies], for death is not bitter in the mouth of the believers. These drops of blood that gush from your bodies will be transformed tomorrow into blazing red meteors that will fall down upon the heads of your enemies."

Journalist condemns PA culture of death taught to kids
|
|
Source:
Al-Ayyam, June 18, 2007
|
A Palestinian journalist has expressed despair about the society of death worship in Gaza. In so doing, he has corroborated PMW findings documenting the death culture promoted in Palestinian Authority education.
Ghassan Zaqtan, PA journalist:
“We knew that they would do it, especially in Gaza, where a mother brushes her young son's hair at 7:00, so that he will be killed at 7:30, and where the children learn that death is preferable to life! We knew that they would do this, it was clear to us: with language overflowing with the rhetoric of death and the norms of killing, in the religious rulings [Fatwas] and in Friday and holiday sermons.” |

The Director of the Palestinian Children’s Aid Association, Firial Hillis, explained that it was an integral part of the official educational policy to educate young children to aspire to Shahada – Martyr's death:
“The concept of Shahada for him [the child] means belonging to the homeland, from a religious point of view. Sacrifice for his homeland. Achieving Shahada in order to reach Paradise and to meet his God. This is the best. We also teach our children to protect the homeland, belonging and to reach Shahada.” |

The video shows a group of adolescents holding rifles. One of the boys runs to dodge gunfire and is shot. The other boys bring the dead body, wrapped in a Palestinian flag, to his mother's house. The mother kisses her son and emits a cry of joy. The video then cuts to the mother handing rifles to her other sons.
The following lyrics are heard in the background:
"Our Shahids (Martyrs) have sworn, we shall live no longer. Either we shall pray [in Jerusalem] or we shall die at your gate, standing upon your threshold. 'Khaibar' [massacre of Jews] will be repeated, over and over, Oh Muslims. Mother, Oh mother, I swear by your pure eyes and hands, the tears in your eyes obligate them. Oh free [land], two children will come, in place of one. They will wipe away the shameful history. Oh free [land], two children will come, in place of one. They will wipe away the shameful history."

Al-Manar TV, June 1, 2002

“The enemies harm everyone, therefore the young ones are now crying “Allah Akbar!” [Background shows the Dome of the Rock, a holy Islamic shrine in Jerusalem] You are [our people’s] purpose and concern, let your stone pour out blood. Your land is your honor and your mother, and worldly things only come after it. My book has turned into a stone. With it, I repel the treacherous. It is small like [the boy] but its effect is great. Purify yourself, pray and set out. With your blood the soil will be perfumed. Engrave your name on [Heaven’s] doors. I am at your service, on Al-Aqsa [Mosque]! I am at your service, oh Jerusalem! I may have missed a lesson, but my love for you is a lesson itself. Come out of every tunnel, window and door, join your stone to mine. The shooting of the evil [Israelis] doesn’t scare us. The dear [child] has fulfilled his desire, achieving the merit of Marytrdom. [The boy] who went to redeem his country is not considered dead.”
