“Official spokesman of the PA Security Forces [and General Political Commissioner] Adnan Al-Damiri condemned the notice of the Hamas movement on the topic of the arrest of the cell that carried out the 'Itamar operation' (i.e., terror attack in which 2 Israelis were shot to death) and the lies, incitement, and fabrications it included, in order to divert attention from the occupation's crimes and the settlers. He stated: 'The continuous attempts of the Hamas leadership to harm the image of the [PA] security establishment, which participates with its people in the struggle and defense of Jerusalem and the Palestinian land, to accuse it of treachery and to slander it, have turned into a broken record whose shame is publicly exposed. [This is] an attempt by Hamas to escape the crisis and distress in of its leadership as a result of its total absence from the defense of Al-Aqsa and blocking the settlers, at a time when we are most in need of unity, cohesiveness and resoluteness against the occupation and its settlers' terror.' He added: 'In these difficult circumstances, the leaders and activists of the Hamas movement have to reevaluate their performance in national terms, and to stop persecuting our people in the dear Gaza Strip, and preventing them from fulfilling their tasks in fighting the occupation, even by peaceful means, and stop exporting its crisis to others."
