Supervisor of official PA media: Israel targets Palestinian media outlets

“The Palestinian [official PA] news agency WAFA yesterday [July 5, 2017] took part in meetings of The Alliance of Mediterranean News Agencies that are being held in Agadir, Morocco. WAFA is being represented by its Chairman of the Board Ahmad Assaf. Ahmad Assaf, [who is] the general supervisor of the [PA] official media, said that the WAFA agency is currently undergoing significant development on several levels… He added that the main goal is to make the voice of the Palestinian people heard everywhere in the world, despite the obstacles being placed by the Israeli occupation. The Alliance of Mediterranean News Agencies yesterday rejected the request to join by the Israeli news agency TPS. Assaf thanked the alliance member states for this honorable position… Assaf said that ‘Israel is fighting the Palestinian media outlets.’ He noted that [Israel] bombed the [Palestinian] Broadcasting Corporation’s offices in the West Bank and Gaza, and before that the offices of the WAFA agency and dozens of Palestinian media outlets. [Israel] has also killed dozens of Palestinian journalists, and is holding dozens of them in detention.”
