PA threatens to “submit cases against the US and Britain” to the ICC
Headline: “Palestinian leadership decides to stop all contacts with Israel and to continue in halting security coordination”
“The Palestinian leadership decided tonight to stop all contacts and meetings with the Israeli side and to continue in halting the security coordination.
This came in a statement issued at the conclusion of the emergency meeting for the Palestinian leadership, chaired by President Mahmoud Abbas, at the presidential headquarters in Ramallah, to discuss the ongoing Israeli aggression against Jenin and its refugee camp.
The leadership decided, according to the statement read by the official spokesman for the presidency, Nabil Abu Rudeineh, to invite the heads of the Palestinian political factions to an emergency meeting to discuss and agree on a comprehensive national vision and unite the ranks to confront the Israeli aggression.
The leadership affirmed the right of the Palestinian people to defend themselves against the aggression and that the mission of the Palestinian Authority is to protect the Palestinian people, and to put all its capabilities for this purpose, urging everyone to shoulder their responsibilities in this matter, with an emphasis on adherence to the international legitimacy and international law.
Abu Rudeineh said that in light of the Israeli lack of commitment to the Aqaba and Sharm el-Sheikh understandings, the leadership declares that these understandings are no longer valid and no longer exist.
The leadership also decided to immediately go to the UN Security Council to implement Resolution 2334 and the resolution on international protection for the Palestinian people, the halt on unilateral measures, impose sanctions on the occupying state, and call on the International Criminal Court to expedite its proceedings on referred cases.
Following are the resolutions of the Palestinian leadership in its emergency meeting:
1. To call the secretaries-general of the Palestinian factions for an emergency meeting, to discuss and agree on a comprehensive national vision while uniting the ranks to confront and respond to the Israeli aggression.
2. To cease all contacts with the Israeli side.
3. To maintain the cessation of security coordination.
4. To maintain the activities of the popular committees in defending cities, villages and camps. All Palestinian departments are to uphold their role in defending the Palestinian people.
5. The leadership affirm the right of our people to defend themselves, and tasks the PA institutions with the protection of the Palestinian people, and to tap on all its resources to this end while stressing that all must shoulder their responsibilities in this field, with an emphasis on adherence to international law.
6. In light of the Israeli non-compliance with the Aqaba and Sharm el-Sheikh understandings, the leadership declares that these understandings are no longer valid and no longer exist.
7. Adhering to the Palestinian national constants and to the Palestine Liberation Organization as the sole and legitimate representative of the Palestinian people, while adhering to international law, and to continue seeking full membership status of the State of Palestine in the United Nations, and to secure more international recognition.
8. To immediately petition the UN Security Council to implement Resolution 2334 and the relevant resolutions on providing international protection to the Palestinian people, stopping unilateral measures, and imposing sanctions on the occupying power.
9. To call on the International Criminal Court to expedite the proceedings on referred cases.
10. To support Palestinian families in lodging cases before the International Criminal Court (ICC) against the Israeli occupation forces for the massacres and killings they carried out against the innocent civilians.
11. To demand the revocation of Israel's membership in the United Nations due to its failure to implement Resolutions 181 and 194.
12. To lodge cases against the occupying state for the committed crimes for which it bears responsibility throughout the duration of its occupation.
13. To file cases against Israel for the massacres it committed, the destruction of villages and the displacement of the Palestinian people during the Nakba period.
14. To launch an immediate call for the ongoing international commission of inquiry in the Human Rights Council to investigate and refer its findings regarding the responsibility of the occupation for these massacres and acts of terrorism to the International Criminal Court and the UN Security Council.
15. To resume accession to the remaining UN conventions and international organizations.
16. To submit cases against the US and Britain because of the Balfour Declaration and demand recognition, apology and compensation.
17. To limit the relationship with the US administration.
18. To act on the Arab, Islamic and international levels in order to support the Palestinian stance.”
