World Bank transfers a total of $1.2 billion to the PA

Headline: “An additional 24 million dollars from the World Bank to assist the [Palestinian] Authority budget”
“Yesterday [Nov. 28, 2013] the World Bank transferred 24 million US dollars to the PA from the multi-donor Palestinian Reform and Development Plan Trust Fund. This fund is a multi-donor administrative mechanism for supporting the Palestinian budget, managed by the bank.
In a press release, a copy of which reached Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, the bank said: ‘These funds, which were donated by Britain, will help support the PA budget’s pressing needs. This will provide support for education and health services and for other essential social services, alongside [support for] a number of additional services provided to the Palestinian people. [It] will also provide support for the economic reforms currently taking place.’ …
The donors for the multi-donor Palestinian Reform and Development Plan Trust Fund are the governments of Australia, France, Kuwait, Norway, Britain and Japan.
The bank said: ‘With the release of this credit tranche, the sum of the payments transferred to the PA from the multi-donor Palestinian Reform and Development Plan Trust Fund will amount to approximately 1.12 billion US dollars.’”
