PA Minister visits families of prisoners serving life sentences and calls for their release

Headline: "The situation in the occupation's prisons remains tense – Karake: the President [Abbas] insists on release for veteran prisoners without exception"
"Karake's words were spoken during his visits over the course of the holiday to a number of families of veteran prisoners in the Aida and Deheisheh refugee camps, and in the village of Al-Khader, in the Bethlehem district. The mothers of the veteran prisoners praised the efforts of the President and the leadership to bring about the release of their children detained in the occupation's prisons, and expressed their hope that by the next holiday they would be released from prison."

Note: The women included the mother of prisoner Nasser Abu Surour, from the Aida refugee camp, who has been serving a life sentence since 1993; the mother of prisoner Mahmoud Abu Surour, likewise serving a life sentence; and the mother of prisoner Issa Abd Rabbo, the most veteran prisoner from the Bethlehem district, sentenced to 28 years' imprisonment.
Nasser Abu Surour and Mahmoud Abu Surour participated in the murder of an Israeli intelligence officer in 1993.
