PA Education Minister denies Palestinian incitement in schoolbooks: Israeli schools guilty of incitement, PA education preaches “love, tolerance and freedom”
Source: Official PA daily, Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, Mar. 20, 2017
Headline: "Saidam: The occupation is the main inciter against the Palestinian people"

"[PA] Minister of Education and Higher Education Sabri Saidam emphasized that the occupation is the main inciter against the Palestinian people. He expressed his absolute opposition to all of the types of tendentious accusations against our schools and educational institutions to define them as inciting.
Saidam invited [people] to visit our schools in order to be updated on the curricula, which instill in the young minds human, global, and noble values that preach love, tolerance, and freedom. He called on everyone to open the Israeli textbooks, to examine them carefully, and to check the Israeli education methods and the content taught in the Israeli schools, and particularly the Talmudic (i.e., religious Jewish) ones among them.
In a statement he noted the series of aggressive and incessant acts by the occupation against the educational institutions throughout the homeland, and said that the occupation killed 27 students last year [2016] and injured more than 1,911 others (most were killed or injured while carrying out terror attacks –Ed.)…
Saidam presented a question to the Western states that support the Israeli schools named after Israeli murderers whose hands are covered in the blood of innocents and civilians: Who pays the salaries of people like the one who killed Martyr (Shahid) Muhammad Abu Khdeir, baby Ali Dawabsheh, his mother teacher Reham Dawabsheh, and his father (Palestinians murdered in an arson attack, see more below, Ed.), and young Abd Al-Fattah Al-Sharif (i.e., terrorist, stabbed Israeli soldier)? Who pays the salaries of the murderers of innocent children and women in the Gaza Strip, and those who buried them under the rubble of their schools and homes on ridiculous pretexts?"

PA Jerusalem Affairs Minister: Israel “interfering” with Palestinian schools, “impose Israeli curriculum”
Source: Amad, independent Palestinian news website, Mar. 14, 2017
Headline: “Al-Husseini: The strike in the schools in Jerusalem today is a warning to the occupation, and its goal is to prevent it from interfering in the Palestinian curriculum”

“[PA] Minister of Jerusalem Affairs and Jerusalem District Governor Adnan Al-Husseini… said today (Tuesday) [March 14, 2017] in an interview with Radio Mawtini: ‘We are continuing to struggle against the occupation and to prevent it from imposing its curriculum at the expense of the Palestinian curriculum.’ He emphasized that the [Arab] residents of Jerusalem are standing firm against the [occupation's] policy, which will not force our students to study the Israeli curriculum. He also emphasized that the strike in the schools in Jerusalem today is a type of warning to the occupation authorities, and its goal is to prevent them from interfering in our curriculum and imposing an Israeli curriculum on our Palestinian schools.
Al-Husseini added: ‘The occupation is continuing to limit the lives of the residents of Jerusalem, in order to empty the city of Palestinian Arabs.’ He emphasized that the residents of Jerusalem are continuing to stand firm and resist, and that they will not leave their homes.”

PA Ministry of Education denies incitement in Palestinian schools, report saying so is “slander”
Source: Official PA daily, Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, Mar. 14, 2017
Headline: “The [PA] Ministry of Education condemned the British newspaper’s attack against the schools and accusing them of incitement”

“The [PA] Ministry of Education and Higher Education condemned the attempt by the British newspaper Daily Mail (which based itself on a report on PA education by PMW –Ed.) to exonerate the occupation of its historical crimes against the unarmed Palestinian people. This was through an unjustified attack against the Palestinian schools, accusing them of incitement, and an attempt to frighten the British government in order to prevent it from transferring the aid money that it provides to the schools and educational institutions.
The ministry emphasized in a statement yesterday [March 13, 2017] that these tendentious charges against its schools again prove that [Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin] Netanyahu’s government, which is in crisis, is using its international mouthpieces - as everyone in Britain and outside of it know their sources of funding and their clear goals - in order to save Netanyahu from internal and external legal persecution, and to present him as a victim who is defending Israel from what the newspaper called ‘Palestinian incitement.’ This comes as part of the clear effort to serve the Israeli opinion, to ensure the continuation of the occupation, and to describe it as a victim, as if the Palestinians are the ones who occupied Israel and not the opposite…
The ministry explained that it is the occupation that glorifies the Israeli criminal murderers of the Palestinian people, and this is by naming public facilities and institutions after them, such as [former Israeli Prime Minister] Ben Gurion Airport, Baruch Goldstein Square (sic., no such square exists), and [former Israeli Prime Minister] Menachem Begin Street. The [PA] ministry wondered: Were [the hands] of these people clean of the blood of the Palestinian people and the British people

PA Minister of Education: PA is smuggling PA curriculum into E. Jerusalem schools
Source: Official Palestinian Authority TV, Feb. 4, 2017
PA Minister of Education Sabri Saidam is asked how the PA Ministry of Education can increase the percentage of Arab students in Jerusalem that it is responsible for from the current figure of 14%, and about the PA repairing and purchasing school buildings in Jerusalem –Ed.

PA Minister of Education Sabri Saidam: “How can we deal with this war now? You know, the war is being waged every day, and every day there are important details. Some are not interested in them, but the Jerusalem resident sees them with his own eyes. We say that the campaign is not difficult and is not impossible. If you would ask someone from Jerusalem [how to fight for education], he would tell you: ‘Willpower and money.’ We are armed with desire. We are smuggling our [PA text ]books into the holy city [of Jerusalem]. Some are not familiar with this fact. I said yesterday [Feb. 3, 2017] in a meeting in Hebron: The Palestinian citizen must know first of all that the [PA] Ministry of Education and Higher Education – and I say this honestly – is smuggling its [text]books into the holy city...”

A number of teachers have published pictures on social media of maps of Palestine (i.e., the PA map of “Palestine” that presents all of Israel as “Palestine” together with the PA areas) that were published in the national schoolbooks for second grade, which show errors in the location of the Palestinian cities on the map.”

PA Ministry of Culture teaches kids not to recognize Israel
Source: Official PA daily, Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, May 13, 2014
“The [PA] Ministry of Culture in Tulkarem organized a screening of several documentary films to mark the 66th anniversary of the Nakba (i.e., ‘the catastrophe,’ Palestinian term for the establishment of the State of Israel) at the Al -Fadeliyah High School for Boys, in the presence of Culture Ministry Bureau Chief Muntasir Al-Kam and school principal Muhammad Abd Al-Latif.
[School principal] Abd Al-Latif said: ‘This anniversary proves to us that the refugee camps are temporary and that we will return to the places from which we were expelled. We will return to our land from which we were expelled when the so-called State of Israel was established.’
[Culture Ministry Bureau Chief Muntasir] Al-Kam noted that the screening took place as part of the [Culture] Ministry’s program to encourage the audio-visual field through the screening of documentary films at various national and cultural events, since these films are a part of resistance on the ideological level, at a time when the Zionist entity’s schemes to destroy the Palestinian cause and steal its history and identity – and not just the land – are gaining momentum.”

Official PA daily: Hamas suspends teaching of human rights curriculum that calls for "peaceful resistance"
Source: Official PA daily, Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, Feb. 14, 2014
“The Education Ministry of the deposed Hamas government announced yesterday [Feb. 13, 2014] that it has reached an agreement with UNRWA to suspend teaching human rights as a subject in the agency’s schools in Gaza because [the curriculum] contains dangerous inaccuracies that are detrimental to the Palestinian cause and to Palestinian and Islamic culture . Mu’tasim Al-Minawi, a senior official in the deposed government’s education ministry, said of the UNRWA’s curriculum that it “distorts and belittles the refugee issue and describes the refugees [simply] as people who fled rather than as [victims] who were forcefully expelled and had massacres perpetrated against them, forcing them to leave their homes; this is a distortion and a blurring of the truth.’ …
In an announcement posted on the Ministry’s website, Osama Al-Mazini, the deposed government’s minister of education, said: ‘We cannot allow the UNRWA agency to unilaterally introduce new curricula.’ He added that the human rights subject ‘ignores the Nakba (i.e., “catastrophe,” Palestinian term for the establishment of the State of Israel) of the Palestinian people, and works to erase the culture of the right of return and to instill one of peaceful resistance and submission as a means of restoring the rights [of the Palestinians].’”
