Editorial in PA daily criticizes “those [Palestinians] who are still placing our children’s lives in danger from the Israeli killing bullets through their populist displays”
Source: Official PA daily, Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, Feb. 11, 2019
Excerpt of editorial by the official PA daily

"The Israeli occupation soldiers shoot at our children only because they want to murder the Palestinian future, or to make them disabled if we choose the less racist option – and the problem is 'the leaders of the resistance' in the wounded Gaza Strip do not understand this! […] We are not absolving the Israeli occupation of responsibility for this matter, as it is continuing the criminal persecution of our children in order to destroy their tender lives… However, just as we pursue the occupation, so too there is no choice but to pursue those who are still placing our children’s lives in danger from the Israeli killing bullets through their populist displays. We must not be silent any longer about this matter. Palestine has the right that its children will learn and grow in order to be pillars of the future of freedom and independence, and the children in Palestine have the right to be protected and defended by it [Palestine] so that they will live their lives in happiness."

Article in official PA daily glorifies Martyrs and Martyrdom, describes Palestinian kids trying to touch the Martyr's body to gain prestige among their fellows, Martyrs are "grooms"
Source: Official PA daily, Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, Oct. 2, 2018
"Only the mother remained to shed tears over the grave of her Martyr (Shahid) son Muhammad Zaghloul Al-Rimawi (i.e., suspected terrorist) after the participants in the funeral procession had scattered. She remained alone to cry over him and scattered roses over his grave...
When parting from the Martyrs, there are always symbolic images that remain in the mind and heart, and it does not matter how much time has passed. Here, at the parting from the Martyr, a father stands facing his son and gives him a military salute. This is an image that has repeated itself many times. In a different image, a boy is hanging out the window of a room and watching the parting from the Martyr... He comes out quickly and tries to touch the head of the Martyr. He wants to reach the glory in order to brag to his friends that he touched a Martyr, but he did not succeed.
When the body of the Martyr reached his home, his closest friend Ata looked for the Martyr's mother and shouted: 'We have brought you the groom; we have brought you the groom.'"

For he will die if he does not leave my land immediately,
I will make him drink the cups of death, what a bitter drink,
You have reached Gaza! You have reached your death,
If you have not yet been killed, captivity is for you.
Self-sacrificing fighter (Fida’i), prepare to fire,
O Zionist, a rocket will reach you where you live,
Indeed you die sleeping or awake, at home or on the mountain,
I will make you drink the cup of death, what a bitter taste..."

Palestinian education: Father recounts how convicted terrorist son ‘loved resistance to the occupation from a young age’
Source: Official PA daily, Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, May 25, 2017
Headline: “Father and son are hunger striking”

“Imad Arif, a 56-year-old from Gaza City, did not find another way to express his solidarity with his son Bassel (i.e., terrorist, murdered 1), who is imprisoned in the Israeli occupation’s prisons, other than by joining the unlimited hunger strike.
Arif has been lying on a wooden bed and hunger striking for this, the second day in a row, at the support tent that was established on the ruins of ‘Gaza Central Prison’…
This father has not seen his prisoner son since his arrest in 2002 due to security reasons, to the point that according to him he no longer even remembers how he looks, and his mother is the only one who can visit him.
Bassel was arrested on Aug. 19, 2002, as he was wounded during work in the Palestinian [PA] police in Ramallah in the West Bank, and was sentenced to 2 life sentences and another 52 years.
Imad said of his prisoner son: ‘Thirty-five-year-old Bassel loved the homeland and the resistance to the occupation from a young age.’ He also noted that despite his young age, he assisted the ‘wanted’ members of the Fatah Movement (i.e., terrorists) in the first Intifada (i.e., Palestinian wave of violence and terror against Israel, 1987-1993).”

Bassel Arif – Palestinian police officer who carried out a shooting attack near the Israeli town of Ofra on May 28, 2002, murdering Israeli citizen Albert Malul and injuring 1 other person. He is serving 2 life sentences.

Zayzafuna is a PLO magazine for children partially funded by the PA. The magazine, which includes material written by both the magazine’s staff and child readers, represents the values of the educators and serves as a window into the minds of the Palestinian children submitting material to the magazine. Zayzafuna's website states that the magazine's advisory board is comprised of PA officials and educators, including Jihad Zakarneh, PA Deputy Minister of Education, and Abd Al-Hakim Abu Jamous, Head of the Media Department at the PA Ministry of Education. Since September 2015, Zayzafuna included a note on its second page thanking the PA Ministry of Finance for its financial support of the magazine (true as of the time of this writing, May 2016). In May 2011, the Deputy Chairman of the Zayzafuna organization Abd Al-Karim Ziyada explained on PA TV that the PA gives "a monthly payment of 10,000 shekels ($2,700) to cover the magazine's [costs]." Children’s NGO representative: Palestinians present kids who were killed by Israel as belonging to a particular nationalist faction, instead of presenting their human side
Source: Official Palestinian Authority TV, Nov. 20, 2016
Official PA TV program Palestine This Morning, interview with Defense for Children International Palestine’s Accountability Program Director Ayed Abu Qteish, for UN Universal Children’s Day on Nov. 20

Defense for Children International Palestine’s Accountability Program Director Ayed Abu Qteish: “Over 99% of the Palestinian children who are killed as Martyrs (Shahids) are killed without directly taking part in clashes [with Israelis], but we as Palestinians are always trying to present the heroic side, in other words, that he [this child] is a member of this or that organization, when he is not a member of any organization. Fine, it’s good to educate our children about the nationalist spirit through the family, the curricula, the society, and the institutions-(interrupted by host).”
Official PA TV host: “The child does not pose any danger to an army armed with weapons from head to toe.”
Ayed Abu Qteish: “Certainly.”
Host: “That is what’s strange.”
Ayed Abu Qteish: “If we compare how the Israelis behave in this matter, [they say about] everyone who dies that he loved to engage in volunteer activity, or that he was a member of some sort of club, and the like. The human side, which is actually the interesting side, is lacking in the Palestinian story of presenting the victims.”

Official PA TV newsreader: “Jenin [District] Governor Ibrahim Ramadan laid the cornerstone of the new residential buildings for the families of the three Martyrs (Shahids) and the prisoner from Qabatiya, at a ceremony honoring the families of the Martyrs and the outstanding students in the matriculation exams.”

Official PA TV reporter: “After the occupation’s bulldozers demolished the homes of the three Martyrs from Qabatiya south of Jenin (i.e., terrorists Ahmad Najah Abu Al-Rub, Ahmad Zakarneh, and Muhammad Kmeil), who died after they carried out the Damascus Gate operation (i.e., terrorist attack, 1 murdered) in occupied Jerusalem last February [2015], and [the home of] the prisoner that the occupation government is accusing of providing them with aid (i.e., Bilal Abu Zaid), the [PA] leadership ordered the building of new homes for their families.
It translated these efforts [into actions] by laying a cornerstone for these homes, and announced the start of their construction as [a sign of] loyalty to their sacrifice.”

Commissioner for Mobilization and Organization and Fatah Central Committee member Mahmoud Al-Aloul: “Since the beginning of the occupation, it is trying to do all it can to carry out crimes like these, to demolish homes in an attempt to distance the Palestinian people from the resistance to this occupation. However, despite all of these efforts, the Palestinian people will without a doubt resist for the defense of its country, its future, and its children.”

Human rights researcher criticizes PA media for encouraging child terrorists by presenting attackers as role models

Official PA TV program The Occupied Capital

(Visual: 14-year-old Muawiyah Alqam, stabbed one)

Jerusalem Legal Aid and Human Rights Center researcher and fieldworker Nabil Abdallah: "When children [who attempt to carry out attacks] are presented here as heroes, particularly in our media, there are times when the child wants to imitate role models and heroes, and may decide [to carry out an attack] while unaware of the consequences... Our media needs to raise awareness and convey to the world that this child is a victim, not just a hero. [By calling him] "a hero" we are seriously taking part in destroying his childhood... This is a problem - we know how much the media influences... Children like Ali or Muawiyah [Alqam who stabbed an Israeli] need to live their lives."

Abbas advisor “kiss[es] the hands” of children carrying out “resistance” (i.e., violence), but calls for more intense “resistance” that will “hurt” Israel and “make it pay dearly”
Source: Donia Al-Watan (independent Palestinian news agency), Apr. 6, 2016
Interview with Fatah Central Committee member and PA President Mahmoud Abbas' advisor Sultan Abu Al-Einein
Donia Al-Watan interviewer: “Last question, in regard to the relations with Israel, regarding the popular uprising (reference to wave of Palestinian terror attacks which lasted October 2015 + March 2016 -Ed.) where is it leading? Where are we heading?”
Fatah Central Committee member and Abbas’ advisor Sultan Abu Al-Einein:
“Where is the popular uprising? Is this popular uprising? Is this resistance? IS this popular resistance?”
Donia Al-Watan interviewer: “In what direction are we heading?”
Fatah Central Committee member and Abbas’ advisor Sultan Abu Al-Einein: “These are acts of resistance [by] individuals. I kiss the hands of these children’s (i.e., terrorists who carried out attacks against Israel) families. However, can we say that this is resistance and that we have resistance? This is not resistance, not the resistance that we want. We want resistance that would hurt the occupation and demand of it a [heavy] price. When the resistance hurts the occupation and makes it pay [dearly], and the occupation pays a heavy price for its presence on Palestinian land, this will be the resistance we seek. As long as the resistance does not hurt and cost the occupation, it is not resistance. When the resistance hurts the Israeli enemy, it will be able to call itself resistance and take pride in it.”

PA daily op-ed opposes encouraging children to carry out stabbing attacks and opposes praising death
Source: Official PA daily, Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, Nov. 24, 2015
Op-ed by Hafez Al-Barghouti, regular columnist and former editor for Al-Hayat Al-Jadida:
"It is our duty to prevent our sons and daughters... from carrying out futile acts, which the enemy in his media and diplomacy has begun to link to the acts of the terror organizations in Paris and elsewhere, in order to strip us of our humanity, and play the role of the human. This is while, there is no one else in the world, except for him [the enemy], who boasts about occupying someone else's land and oppressing its owners. Moreover, we should note that after the events of September [11, 2001] in New York, [then Israeli Prime Minister Ariel] Sharon copied the term 'terror' used to refer to those attacks, to our national struggle (i.e., terror campaign - Intifada). I warned about this at the time, and called to keep a low profile until the New York turmoil had passed, but the concept of 'Palestinian terror' later spread, instead of [the general term] 'terror.' Now, after the Paris attacks, we must keep a low profile so that we are not charged with the crimes of ISIS and its ilk, because the world is in a coma, and it may not wake up from it anytime soon. We must learn our lessons and wait."

Governor of Hebron District Kamel Hamid said during the funeral that the continued holding of the bodies by the occupation stirs up emotions and leaves the area in an impassioned state. Abd Al-Rahim Skafi said in the name of the Martyr’s family that their son is ‘another groom from Hebron, accompanied to his wedding, to Heaven, for the sake of Jerusalem and the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque,’ and emphasized the resolve of our people for its land, and a life of dignity and liberty.”
