“Only a few days stand between us and the anniversary of the departure of the first bullet and the first stone, the engineer of the intifada, Commander Abu Jihad Khalil Al-Wazir. Those who lived by his side know his characteristics and nature. He acted in silence, and behind his silence hid the planning of a quality operation (i.e., terror attack) or operations in Palestine. Abu Jihad’s silence was more eloquent than the actions of our lost bullet, and the smell of gunpowder that occasionally comes to life in the skies of Palestine reminds those living that Abu Jihad still lives among our living.”

Abu Jihad (Khalil Al-Wazir) was a founder of Fatah and deputy to Yasser Arafat. He headed the PLO terror organization's military wing and also planned many deadly Fatah terror attacks. These attacks, which killed a total of 125 Israelis, included the most lethal in Israeli history - the hijacking of a bus and killing of 37 civilians, 12 of them children.
