Official PA daily op-ed on terrorists: “Martyrs were and still are the compass of our struggle”

"A short while ago, Israel succeeded in causing the UN, Norway, and Denmark to stop supporting a gender (i.e., women’s) center that serves 60 Palestinian women in the village of Bizzariya (sic., Burqa), whose founders named it after Martyr (Shahida) Dalal Mughrabi (i.e., terrorist who led murder of 37, 12 of them children), [- the funding was stopped] on the pretext that she was a 'terrorist.' Unfortunately, these powers responded to Israel’s extortion, despite the UN and the two above-mentioned states knowing the truth. They know that Martyr Dalal was a Palestinian fighter who devoted her life to defending her cause, despite [the fact that she] loved life and wanted to live a free and dignified life like all young people in the different countries of the world.
However, the uprooting and occupying Israeli colonialism destroyed and threatened her life and the lives of her people throughout the entire world, which created the political circumstances that caused the young Palestinians to join the ranks of their national factions to defend the national rights that were stolen by colonialist Israel…
After the government of [Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin] Netanyahu succeeded in marketing its lies regarding the women's center, the administration of American [President Donald] Trump turned to inciting against the Palestinian leadership, claiming that it supports 'terror' and 'terrorists,' and this is by paying the salaries (rawatib) of the Martyrs and prisoners. In order to create a rift with the American administration, push aside the political process, and deepen its aggressive tendencies, yesterday [June 14, 2017] a bill passed a first reading in the Israeli Parliament that orders to deduct the Martyrs and prisoners' salaries from the Palestinian tax money. This shows that the ruling [Israeli] right-wing coalition has advanced another step in the threat to the symbols of the [Palestinian] national narrative, which requires that the leadership, the people, and the national forces do the following: First, to outright reject all of the Israeli policy of incitement; second, to demand that [Israel], the US, Europe, and all who support Israel stop the salaries of its war criminals (sic., they have not been declared war criminals, and they do not receive government salaries) from among the Zionist organizations - Haganah, Lehi, Etzel, and the Irgun (i.e., Jewish forces from the pre-state period; Etzel and the Irgun are the same organization), and also of its army's officers and soldiers, as all of them are murderers; third, to consider the [Palestinian] Martyrs and prisoners' salaries a red line that cannot be manipulated or compromised over – this is because they are fighters and symbols of the national liberation struggle and the beacons of the Palestinian narrative; fourth, to act with force against the Israeli campaign and sue ]Israel] in the international courts, and particularly the International Criminal Court; and fifth, to arm [ourselves] with international and national regulations and laws, because the national law, which protects the Palestinian interests, is the criteria that regularizes the relations with the Palestinian citizen.
The Martyrs and prisoners were and still are the compass of our struggle, and the fate of their families and their sources of income must not be toyed with. Just as they were the symbols of our national struggle in the past, so too will they remain the beacons of the path of freedom in the future and in every confrontation against the Israeli occupation state. They are the Martyrs of the Palestinian people, and the Palestinians will not abandon any Martyr or prisoner, regardless of what party, faction, or movement they are affiliated with. They and their families will have priority in the payment of their salaries and the guarantee of a dignified source of income for them, so they can live the dignified lives of which they, their humanity, and their patriotism are deserving.”
Dalal Mughrabi led the most lethal terror attack in Israel’s history, known as the Coastal Road massacre, in 1978, when she and other Fatah terrorists hijacked a bus on Israel's Coastal Highway, murdering 37 civilians, 12 of them children, and wounding over 70.
