“Britain can celebrate a century since the promise of British Foreign Secretary Arthur James Balfour, whose kingdom committed a crime against humanity when it had a mandate over Palestine. It denied the Palestinian people its future in its homeland, Palestine, and gave the leaders of the colonialist, occupying, and settling enterprise in Palestine a homeland – of which the kingdom did not own [even] one grain of sand. Likewise, not one of the Jews who arrived at the beaches of Palestine in ships – as invaders or refugees from the hell of persecution in Europe – has ownership [of Palestine].”
The Balfour Declaration of Nov. 2, 1917 was a letter from British Foreign Secretary Arthur Balfour to Baron Rothschild stating that “His Majesty's government views with favour the establishment in Palestine of a national home for the Jewish people.” In 1922, the League of Nations adopted this and made the British Mandate “responsible for putting into effect the declaration,” which led to the UN vote in 1947 and the establishment of the State of Israel.
