Mocking Islamic suicide bombers

Fatah cartoon shows satanic figure encouraging suicide terrorist:
"Remember, the more victims, the more virgins"

Other cartoon ridicules ISIS suicide terrorists:
"Congratulations, you've been chosen
because you're the only sucker willing to carry out this mission!"

Op-ed in official PA daily criticizes radical Islam:
"They are the lowest of the low, distorting the religion"

Contrary to the Palestinian Authority and Fatah policy of honoring Palestinian suicide bombers as "heroes," recently two cartoons mocked ISIS and other Islamic suicide bombers.

One cartoon by a Yemenite artist published on Fatah's Information and Culture Commission's website ridiculed the way radical Muslim groups persuade suicide bombers - the aspiring "Martyrs" for Allah - with the promise of being rewarded with the 72 Dark-Eyed Virgins in Heaven upon completing their "mission." A satanic figure encourages a suicide bomber wearing an explosives belt with the following words:

"Remember, the more victims, the more virgins."

Another cartoon which was shown on Fatah-run Awdah TV mocked Islamic State suicide terrorists. It showed a threatening looking man handing someone a car key labelled "car bomb," saying:

"Congratulations, you've been chosen because you're the only sucker willing to carry out this mission!"
Text on the man's beard: "ISIS"
Text on key chain: "Car bomb"

July 8 and 9, 2015]

Interestingly, these two cartoons published by Fatah media mock suicide bombers of radical Islamic groups, whereas the Fatah movement, along with the Palestinian Authority, has a long tradition of praising Palestinian suicide bombers who have killed Israelis, as Palestinian Media Watch has documented. Similarly, Fatah and the PA promote Martyrdom for Allah, and did so especially during the PA's terror campaign (the Intifada, 2000-2005). Furthermore, they reinforce the belief in "Martyrs" being wed to the 72 virgins in Heaven.

In an op-ed criticizing radical Islam, Hafez Al-Barghouti, regular columnist of the official Palestinian Authority daily, also raised criticism of ISIS and radical Sheikhs. He described how they understand the essence of Jihad "as theft, robbery, and taking women captive," and mentioned that also "the ISIS experts in Islamic law" permit "taking Christian and Yazidi women captive, their sale as servants and slaves, and the taking of women from among their Muslim opponents captive." Barghouti went on to criticize such radical Sheikhs as "the root of the destruction that befell the nation" and "the lowest of the low," asserting that they "distort" Islam:

"The ones who give these fatwas (formal legal opinions in Islamic law -Ed.) are the root of the destruction and tragedy that befell the nation. I think that preventing them from giving fatwas would be a great service to all of mankind, and to religion itself. I don't know how the regimes, or what is left of them, are rushing to fight terror, yet leaving these same people free and allowing them to appoint themselves defenders of the religion, while [in reality] they are the lowest of the low and are distorting the religion like the hypocrites."

The following is a longer excerpt of the op-ed criticizing radical Islam:

Headline: "Preachers of terror"
Op-ed by Hafez Al-Barghouti, regular columnist for Al-Hayat Al-Jadida
"Before the Saudi Sheikh Fawzan, I listened to a lesson of an Egyptian Sheikh, who said that when a Muslim waged Jihad, he would return with captives, dirhams (i.e., coins), and booty, and his livelihood was easy thanks to Jihad, and when the Jihad ended there was poverty. This creature sees Jihad as theft, robbery, and taking women captive. Then Fawzan comes and claims that taking captives is permissible in Islam, and that whoever doesn't believe this is a heretic. Even before this, the ISIS experts in Islamic law permitted taking Christian and Yazidi women captive, and their sale as servants and slaves, and also the taking of women from among their Muslim opponents captive...
One of the strange things that Fawzan did was to forbid cursing Israel, because the name Israel is also the name of the prophet Jacob! As we see, their only worry is the woman, and there is nothing in their imagination aside from her. This question is directed to them: Is it permissible for a non-Muslim to take Muslim women captive and enjoy them? If you permit taking the women of others captive, why is it forbidden for others to take your women captive? And when foreigners conquered Muslim lands - and some of them are still under occupation - did they take the women captive, sell them in slave markets, and enslave the children?
The ones (i.e., the radical Sheikhs) who give these fatwas (formal legal opinions in Islamic law -Ed.) are the root of the destruction and tragedy that befell the nation.
