Mahmoud Abbas' Fatah movement emphasizes repeatedly its support for violence and terror attacks against Israel. During the current terror wave alone, Palestinian Media Watch has documented numerous times that Fatah encourages attacks against Israelis and supports and glorifies the attackers.

One example is a new video made by Fatah's Mobilization and Organization Commission and posted on Fatah's official Facebook page. To celebrate its 51st anniversary this year, Fatah chose to use footage of Abbas glorifying several terrorists in a speech in 2012, among them 2 arch-terrorists, Abu Jihad and Abu Iyad. Added to the old footage were pictures of the terrorists with the logo "51" for Fatah's current anniversary:

PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas: "Today, we remember our Martyrs. We remember the Sheikh of our Martyrs, Yasser Arafat. We remember Abu Jihad, Abu Iyad, Abu Said, Abu Ali Iyad, Abu Sabri. We recall all these Martyrs."

The 2 arch-terrorists who Abbas chose to honor and who Fatah still presents as its heroes were:

Abu Jihad (Khalil Al-Wazir) was one of the founders of Fatah and deputy to Yasser Arafat. He headed the PLO terror organization's military wing and also planned many deadly Fatah terror attacks. These attacks, which killed a total of 125 Israelis, included the most lethal in Israeli history - the hijacking of a bus and killing of 37 civilians, 12 of them children.

Abu Iyad (Salah Khalaf) - was one of the founders of Fatah and head of the terrorist organization Black September. Attacks he planned included the murder of 11 Israeli athletes at the Munich Olympics (Sept. 5, 1972) and the murder of two American diplomats in Sudan (March 1, 1973).

See below for information about the other terrorists praised by Abbas.

Another strong show of admiration for terror and murder from Fatah's past also appeared on Fatah's Facebook page. This photo shows graffiti on a wall with a list of Fatah terror attacks, in which many Israeli civilians and soldiers were killed:

The celebrated attacks are the following:

The bombing of Israel's National Water Carrier - Eilabun tunnel attack - On Jan. 1, 1965, Palestinian terrorists attempted to bomb Israel's National Water Carrier. This was the first attack against Israel carried out by Fatah. Fatah refers to the attack as the "Intilaqa", meaning "the Launch" of Fatah.

The Munich Massacre - a terrorist attack perpetrated by the Palestinian terror organization Black September during the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich, in which they murdered 11 members of the Israeli Olympic team.

The Savoy terror attack - In March 1975, eight terrorists traveled by boat from Lebanon to a Tel Aviv beach. They took over the Savoy Hotel and took guests as hostages. The next morning, Israeli forces attacked and killed seven of the terrorists. Eight hostages and three soldiers were killed by the terrorists during the attack.

Thaer Hammad - serving 11 life sentences for shooting down 3 civilians and 7 soldiers with a sniper rifle from a hilltop in Wadi Al-Haramiya in the West Bank on March 3, 2002.

Rafah terror attack in 2004 (Palestinian name for the attack: Volcano of anger) -terror attack in which Palestinian terrorists blew up a tunnel under an Israeli military post at Rafah, killing 5 and wounding 6 soldiers, on Dec. 12, 2004. Hamas and Fatah claimed joint responsibility for the attack. The Israeli army verified that one Hamas terrorist got away and one Fatah terrorist, Muayyad Agha, was shot and killed by Israeli soldiers.

To celebrate its anniversary this year, Abbas' Fatah has again emphasized its support for violence. PMW has shown that children paraded with guns, axes and suicide belts at a Fatah celebration in Bethlehem and that Fatah views its anniversary as the marking of "half a century of sowing terror in the eyes of the sons of Zion."

The following are additional terrorist "Martyrs" mentioned by Abbas in his speech used by Fatah in its anniversary video:

Abu Ali Iyad was appointed head of Fatah military operations in 1966 and was responsible for several terror attacks. The attacks included a bombing in the town of Beit Yosef in northern Israel on April 25, 1966 (injuring 3 people), and placing bombs in the town of Margaliot in northern Israel on July 19, 1966. He was killed in 1971 in Jordan by the Jordanian army when it forced Fatah members out of the country.

Abu Sabri Saidam - Deputy Commander of Operations for Fatah's Al-Asifa military unit.
