On International Women's Day, a host on official Palestinian Authority TV urged Palestinian women to "remember" terrorist Dalal Mughrabi who led the most lethal terrorist attack in Israel's history - known as the Coastal Road Massacre - in which Dalal Mughrabi and other terrorists killed 37 Israeli civilians, among them 12 children.
Palestinian Media Watch has shown that Dalal Mughrabi is presented by PA and Fatah leaders as one of the prime heroesof Palestinian society.
The PA TV host asked Director of the General Association for Women's Affairs in Tyre, Lebanon, Alia Zamzam, what significance International Women's Day has for Palestinian women and the director replied that Palestinian women "struggle" as the men do, and then mentioned terrorist "sister Dalal Mughrabi" as a "source of pride" for Palestinian women:
"We salute sister Dalal Mughrabi (i.e., who led killing of 37)... Dalal Mughrabi was one of the fighting sisters, and it may be that she paved the way so the sisters could continue. She was a source of pride for the Palestinian woman."

The PA TV host emphasized the "importance" of the terrorist:
"Yes, on this day we must remember Dalal Mughrabi, may Allah have mercy on her."
Female terrorists are frequently presented by PA and Fatah leaders as icons and role models of society. Recently, while stressing the central role of Palestinian women in the "struggle," Fatah Lebanon's magazine Al-Quds favorably mentioned terrorists Dalal Mughrabi, Fatima Barnawi who placed a bomb in a movie theatre, and suicide bombers Wafa Idris, who killed 1 and wounded over 100, Ayyat Al-Akhras who killed 2 and wounded 28, and Andalib Takatka who killed 6 and wounded more than 80:
"The Palestinian woman takes part in all areas of the struggle. She is a comrade in arms before she is the mother of self-sacrificing fighters (Fedayeen) and the sister of prisoners... what the Palestinian revolution succeeded in planting in the Palestinian consciousness is that a woman can carry a rifle and carry out operations (i.e., terror attacks) against the occupation, and who does not remember the first female prisoner Fatima Barnawi or the Martyrs (Shahidas) Dalal Mughrabi, Wafa Idris, Ayyat Al-Akhras, Andalib Takatka and their like?"

We see her in all of the Palestinian councils and the popular demonstrations. She has succeeded in providing a framework for her presence in the struggle by establishing women's organizations and social associations, and for this purpose the Committee for Women's Affairs was established, which is a coalition of several Palestinian women's frameworks, which are affiliated with the Palestinian parties and factions that are PLO members. The Al-Quds newspaper met with members of the committee during their visit to Lebanon, in order to learn more about the situation of the Palestinian woman in the homeland. ..
Before the outbreak of the Palestinian revolution the Palestinian woman was active in all areas of life, and stories from before the Nakba (i.e., "the catastrophe," Palestinian term for the establishment of the State of Israel) bear witness to this. During the offensive of the Zionist gangs against the Palestinian cities and villages, the Palestinian woman served as a doctor and assistant to all the Jihad fighters. However, what the Palestinian revolution succeeded in planting in the Palestinian consciousness is that a woman can carry a rifle and carry out operations (i.e., terror attacks) against the occupation, and who does not remember the first female prisoner Fatima Barnawi or the Martyrs (Shahidas) Dalal Mughrabi, Wafa Idris, Ayyat Al-Akhras, and their like?"

Fatima Barnawi placed a bomb in a movie theater in Jerusalem in 1967 in an attempt to blow it up. The bomb failed to explode. She was sentenced to life imprisonment but was released in 1977 after serving 10 years. In 2015, PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas honored Barnawi with the Military Star of Honor.

Wafa Idris - The first Palestinian female suicide bomber. Belonging to Fatah, she blew herself up on Jaffa Road in central Jerusalem on Jan. 27, 2002, killing 1 and wounding over 100. As a volunteer for the Palestinian Red Crescent she was able to bypass Israeli security and enter Jerusalem in a Palestinian ambulance.
Ayyat Al-Akhras - The youngest female Palestinian suicide bomber (aged 17). Belonging to Fatah, she blew herself up near a Jerusalem supermarket on March 29, 2002, killing 2 and wounding 28. Israel transferred the terrorist's body to the PA on Feb. 2, 2014.
Andalib Khalil Muhammad Suleiman or Andalib Takatka - Female suicide bomber from Fatah who blew herself up on Jaffa Road in Jerusalem on April 12, 2002, killing 6 and wounding more than 80.
