Lebanese Mufti: “Teach your children... Palestine’s liberation from the foreign occupation is a holy charge entrusted to you from generation to generation”
“In a letter written on the occasion of the Day commemorating Muhammad’s Night Journey and Ascent to Heaven, the Mufti of Lebanon, Mohammed Rashid Qabbani, said that the fact that Allah transported the Prophet from the Holy Mosque in Mecca to the Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem showed the deep religious connection between Mecca and Jerusalem in Islam.
In his letter, the Mufti… said: ‘Our deep wound has opened again. Palestine has been under foreign occupation since 1948; teach your children that Palestine is Arab land and an Arab country that was conquered by the Hebrew foreigner. [Teach them] that its liberation from the foreign occupation, so it may be purely Arab once more, is a holy charge entrusted to you from generation to generation, until Allah summons an upright leadership for this nation, which will lead this nation towards the liberation [of Palestine]… As in the past Omar ibn Al-Khattab (a prominent 7th- century caliph) liberated it from the Byzantines, and after him, Saladin Al-Ayyubi from the Europeans and Crusaders. Nations do not sell their homelands, nor do they relinquish them or any part of them to a foreigner, no matter how strong he may be.’”
