This is in the shadow of the passing of 100 years since the ominous Balfour Promise (i.e., Declaration), and the British government's insistence on continuing to support the occupation state and side with it and continue the injustice that was done to the Palestinian people and the peoples of the region as a result of this decision …
The department called… on the British government to end this historic tragedy that was caused to the Palestinian people, apologize for the ominous Balfour Promise, recognize the Palestinian state, and compensate those who were harmed by the historical injustice that the Balfour Promise constituted."
On March 17, 2017, UN Secretary-General António Guterres ordered that a UN ESCWA (Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia) report declaring that "Israel has established an apartheid regime that systematically institutionalizes racial oppression and domination of the Palestinian people as a whole" be taken off the ESCWA website.
The Balfour Declaration of Nov. 2, 1917 was a letter from British Foreign Secretary Arthur Balfour to Baron Rothschild stating that “His Majesty's government views with favour the establishment in Palestine of a national home for the Jewish people” and is seen as the basis for later international commitments to establish the State of Israel.
