Fatah official glorifies terrorist Marwan Barghouti, serving 5 life sentences

Headline: “Al-Ahmad: Fatah is loyal to its fighters on the path to freedom and independence”
“Fatah Movement Central Committee member and head of its parliamentary faction Azzam Al-Ahmad said that the fact that the Seventh Fatah Conference reelected PA Parliament (Legislative Council) member Marwan Barghouti (i.e., terrorist prisoner serving 5 life sentences) as a [Fatah] Central Committee member is an expression of the law of love and loyalty for the movement’s fighters, which is stronger than all of the laws and regulations.
In a press release today (Wednesday) [Dec. 7, 2016], he added that the election of Barghouti is confirmation that Fatah adheres to its principles and goals for the freedom of the Palestinian people, which has been struggling for the last 100 years in order to defend its national rights: ending the occupation, realizing its full sovereignty over its homeland, establishing its independent state, and achieving security and peace for itself and for the entire region, according to the principles of the international institutions and human rights.
Al-Ahmad said: ‘[Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin] Netanyahu does not know the significance of fighters and legislative bodies from around the world adopting the campaign to award the Nobel Peace Prize to fighter Marwan Barghouti. If they did not believe that Barghouti shares their views regarding peace – and among them are those who have won the Nobel Peace Prize – they would not be defending him and adopting the international campaign for his release.’
Al-Ahmad called on Netanyahu to implement the resolutions of the international institutions and cease the policy of aggression and extremism, which is expressed in the continuation of the policy of settlement and arrests, including of children, in murder, and in incitement to hatred. [Likewise, he called on Netanyahu] to end the Israeli occupation of the Palestinian state’s territories and to release all of the freedom and peace prisoners, and prime among them PA Parliament member Barghouti, in order to bring peace closer and not to distance it.”

Marwan Barghouti - serving 5 life sentences for orchestrating three shooting attacks that killed 5 people: one in Jerusalem (June 12, 2001, 1 killed), another in Givat Zeev near Jerusalem (Jan. 15, 2002, 1 killed), and one in Tel Aviv (March 5, 2002, 3 killed). When arrested in 2002, he headed the Tanzim (Fatah terror faction). After he was convicted and imprisoned, he was re-elected member of the Palestinian Authority parliament. On Dec. 4, 2016, he was elected to Fatah’s Central Committee.
