PA Ambassador on 6,500 imprisoned terrorists: “The best sons and daughters of the Palestinian people”

"Ambassador of Palestine to Egypt and its permanent representative to the Arab League Jamal Al-Shubaki… noted that the occupation authorities are at the moment holding prisoner 6,500 of the best of the sons and daughters of the fighting Palestinian people, among them 300 children, 57 female prisoners, and 1,800 sick people who are suffering from serious health problems, some of which are life threatening. The occupation authorities are also holding prisoner 13 members of the elected Palestinian PA Parliament (Legislative Council)…
He added: 'The number of heroic prisoners that have served over 20 years in the occupation's prisons stands at 44 prisoners, 13 of them arrested before the Oslo Accords in 1993 - the most veteran among them being Karim Younes and Maher Younes (i.e., terrorists, murdered 1) from among the Palestinians of the 1948 Interior (i.e., Palestinian term for Israel), who have been imprisoned for 34 years, and to be more precise, since January 1983; and prisoner Nael Barghouti (i.e., terrorist, murdered 1), who has served the longest prison term in the prisons, which stands at more than 36 years.’"

Karim Younes - an Israeli Arab serving a 40-year sentence for kidnapping and murdering Israeli soldier Avraham Bromberg in 1980 together with his cousin Maher Younes. Originally sentenced to life in prison, but Israeli President Shimon Peres reduced his sentence in 2012.

Nael and Fakhri Barghouti – Palestinian terrorists who murdered an Israeli army officer in January 1978, near Ramallah. Both were sentenced to life but were released in the Shalit prisoner exchange deal in 2011. Nael Barghouti was arrested again in 2014 for violating the terms of his release by offering Hamas to serve as its minister of prisoners' affairs, and is serving a life sentence plus an additional 18 years.
