Fatah official calls Israel "the Palestinian territories that were occupied in 1948"

Headline: “Al-Aloul: We and our people in the Interior (i.e., Palestinian term for Israel) are united and standing firm against the occupation”
“Fatah Central Committee member [and Commissioner for Mobilization and Organization] Mahmoud Al-Aloul said that the Palestinian people is united and standing firm against the crimes of the occupation state everywhere on the land of Palestine.
Al-Aloul said in an interview with Radio Mawtini yesterday [Jan. 19, 2017] that the policy of destruction that the authorities of the State of Israel are implementing in the village of Umm Al-Hiran (i.e., demolitions of illegal buildings in a Bedouin village in the Negev) is a link in the chain of Israeli crimes committed against the Palestinian people in general, and our people within the Green Line (i.e., Palestinian term for Israel; the Green Line is the ceasefire line between Israel and the neighboring Arab countries, 1949-1967) in particular. He added: ‘The crimes of the occupation have reached every place in the Palestinian territories that were occupied in 1948 (i.e., Israel).’ [… ] Al-Aloul added: ‘The Palestinian leadership is preparing political steps and decisions that it will implement against the new American administration and the occupation state, alongside steps on the ground, if the American embassy is transferred from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, the capital of our occupied state.’”

Green Line - 1949-1967 ceasefire line between Israel and the neighboring Arab countries (Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon and Syria) following Israel's War of Independence (1948-1949). Land within the Green Line is all part of the State of Israel since 1949. Land outside the Green Line includes East Jerusalem, the West Bank, the Gaza Strip, and the Golan Heights.
