Fatah official: Fatah is working to “strengthening” and “maintaining” the “Jerusalem uprising”

Headline: “Al-Zaarir: ‘The Central Committee has decided to postpone the 7th Conference and prioritize strengthening the popular uprising’”
“Deputy Secretary of the Fatah Revolutionary Council Fahmi Al-Za'arir announced the postponement of the movement’s 7th Conference… Al-Za’arir stated yesterday [Nov. 16, 2015] in an interview with Mawtini Radio: ‘The Fatah movement’s 7th Conference has been postponed, due to the movement’s concern for strengthening the foundations of the Jerusalem uprising and maintaining it.’ Al-Za'arir stressed the importance of holding a general conference of the movement, but prioritized the Palestinian people’s goals, stating: ‘Holding the 7th General Conference is important, but since the establishment of our movement, we prioritize the realization of the Palestinian people’s goals, to end the injustice done to it, and protect all its parts.’ Al-Za'arir added: ‘The movement saw fit to object to the division of the Al-Aqsa Mosque according to areas and times, and the settlers’ crimes, including killing, destruction, and arson, as well as to support national committees working to protect the Palestinian citizen,’ and he clarified that these issues delayed the preparations for the movement’s 7th conference. In addition, he stated that he is convinced that the Palestinian people will continue its struggle and conflict against the Israeli occupation, whatever the price may be, until freedom and independence are obtained.”

"Division according to areas and times" refers to a proposed law (May 2013) being reviewed in Israeli Parliament that would allow for both Jews and Muslims to pray on the Temple Mount. The law seeks to designate separate prayer times and areas of the site for Muslims and Jews.
