Fatah calls to end rift with Hamas and "continue the popular uprising"

“The Fatah Movement in the Gaza Strip today, Thursday [March 31, 2017], called to end the [Fatah-Hamas] rift and unite around the Palestinian leadership, which is represented by the PA chairman, President Mahmoud Abbas, who is waging the battle of national independence with full wisdom and ability while adhering to the basic principles and the legal national rights of our people.
This was said in a statement published by the Information and Culture Department of the movement’s Supreme Leadership Council in the Gaza Strip on the 45th Land Day…
The department saluted our people in Jerusalem, the West Bank, the Gaza Strip, the 1948 territories (i.e., Israel), and all of the refugee and diaspora areas, and expressed appreciation for their legendary resolve before the occupation and its plots. It also called to strengthen the resolve, continue the popular uprising, and strengthen the peaceful resistance (i.e., both including violence).”
Land Day – an annual commemoration of the general strike and demonstrations organized by Israeli Arab residents of the Galilee on March 30, 1976 to protest the Israeli government's decision to expropriate land in the Galilee for security and settlement purposes, which it later implemented. During the protests, demonstrators burnt tires, blocked roads, and threw rocks and firebombs. Six demonstrators were shot and killed by the Israeli army and police. Israeli Arabs and Palestinians consider Land Day a national day.
The terms "all means," "peaceful/resistance uprising,” and “popular uprising/resistance" are often used by PA leaders to refer to events that include violence and deadly terror against Israeli civilians such as rock-throwing, stabbings and even shootings.
