Poem once sung by Palestinian women in Jordan recited on official PA TV program: “Feed the bird from the flesh of the Zionists”

Official PA TV program Good Morning Jerusalem, interview with Hijja Halima and Hijja Halima Al-Nassar who live in the Qalandiya refugee camp about their memories from the “Nakba” – the “catastrophe” of Israel’s establishment. Al-Nassar talks about recording songs of the “homeland” while in Jordan, and being imprisoned for doing so. She was afraid to bring the disc of songs with her to the PA. The PA TV host asks her to recite a poem that Palestinian women used to sing.

Hijja Halima Al-Nassar:
"We planted sage by the doors
Here the sanctified site [the Jerusalem Noble Sanctuary] (i.e., the Temple Mount) calls: 'O young people'
We planted the sage next to the springhead
Here the sanctified site calls: 'O King Hussein'
[PLO and PA Chairman] Yasser Arafat, post the army next to the water and feed the bird from the flesh of the Zionists
Yasser Arafat post the army next to the ravine and feed the bird from the flesh of the enemies"
